Anyone else?

Something about Taylor swift and her swifties really grind my gears, I don't see the hype.

@ImFrightenedAuntieEm but you don't understand! They don't like her! They think she's mediocre! And they must must must tell everyone on an obsessive daily basis!!!

ImFrightenedAuntieEm · 27/06/2024 15:59

As an aside I always thought 'Mean' is a bit twee on the nose but I can see why she wrote it putting up with this pettiness.

TheTwirlyPoos · 27/06/2024 16:11

Agreed. She was bang on.

TheSandHurtsMyFeelings · 27/06/2024 16:24

"With that same big mouth opinion
But nobody is listening
Washed up and ranting about
The same old bitter things
Drunk and grumbling on about
How I can't sing..."

😉

TheTwirlyPoos · 27/06/2024 16:28

'with some Indie record that's much cooler than mine'

LOL.

If people are so sick of hearing about her, why do they keep posting threads about her?

It doesn't look like anything but 'I'm not like other girls' with a slice of internalised misogyny to me and no one has given any actual facts to change that.

I must admit I did think the accusation of not empowering females might be something horrible as I don't really follow celebrity news very much, but I googled the usual, dismantling women's rights, using other women as breeders, violence with staff, standing by a rapist etc and couldn't find anything. She's surprisingly free of celebrity scandal the main thing that comes up is songs about exes. I think that's ok. Shows women you don't need to stay silent if men treat you badly after a breakup.

But obviously I am wrong and CRAZY.

TheTwirlyPoos · 27/06/2024 16:32

Yes u r! Stop telling people u think Taylor is a god. You're really annoying.

ImFrightenedAuntieEm · 27/06/2024 16:37

She does have nice hair. (Bit disappointed I haven't seen the curls for a bit) Gods have nice hair.
She tells people messages in the form of words. Messiahs do this.

So she must be both really. Maybe she has been sent to prophesie the second coming of Harry Styles. (Insert dirty joke here)

ImFrightenedAuntieEm · 27/06/2024 16:38

But if I'm to form a religion based on Taylor Swift I'm not sure who Lucifer is. Kayne West, Katy Perry, OP?

This sounds like hard work.

randoname · 27/06/2024 16:49

@ImFrightenedAuntieEm @TheTwirlyPoos @TheSandHurtsMyFeelings it feels like we've bored off the non swifties but just in case we need a safe space ;) I've started athread in the other place.

ImFrightenedAuntieEm · 27/06/2024 16:54

The other place? I'm intrigued.
They're not bored it's just that the daylight is fading and they need to fly away and drink the dreams of Taylor Swift fans everywhere.

ancientpants · 27/06/2024 18:58

I think there's a crossover between swifties and the sad bastard adults that were Potterheads before Rowling became problematic. Bizarre behaviour in grown ups.

Rowling problematic?

I mean yes I do think women don't have penises.

ImFrightenedAuntieEm · 27/06/2024 19:20

More bizarre behaviour in grownups is believing in wishy feels if you ask me. At least Potterheads knows Harry Potter is fictional.

Good grief. What a reach.

For the record, I've never read a HP book or even seen a HP film, in my life.

The desperation from some posters on this thread just REEKS.

ichbrauchenichts99 · 27/06/2024 20:39

Very interesting thread.
It reminds me of early secondary school where what the Queen Bees say must go, and anyone who disagrees is ridiculed.
Nice work swifties.

The anger and frustration and dislike from what I’m sure are middle aged mean girls who never got the opportunity to be middle school mean girls and are making up for it now — and are catting & hissing at people who are not imposing themselves AT ALL on their lives in any way or in any form, are sooo depressing.
Don’t your husbands pay attention to you any more?
Have your children moved away?
No hobbies?
Tired of the constant drudgery of everyday life?
Don’t take it out on people you don’t know, will never meet and who have no effect on your life whatsoever.
Instead, instigate a roll in the hay with your husband or get a vibrator. Learn to knit or needlepoint or work in the garden. Go visit your children. Take a nice long walk every day. Read a steamy romance or a good detective novel.
Do SOMETHING to improve your life instead of knocking everybody else’s down.
For Christ’s sake you sound bitter.

That is a really weird take on it all

Guilty conscience?

Guilty conscience?

It is quite a weird take tbh.

TheTwirlyPoos · 28/06/2024 07:03

It's not really actually. The obsessive nature of some of the posters, constantly posting about an artist they don't like. It's odd behaviour and it's a pity that it has taken this headspace. Just do something u like?!

The post has gone a lot further than saying it's odd to post about something you don't like though, quite a few big jumps have been made in the post.
There are also mean girls on both sides of the TS fence. This thread illustrates that.

Definitely not, your post is just weird
