Something about Taylor swift and her swifties really grind my gears, I don't see the hype.

It’s not mandatory to like her or her fans. If you don’t see the hype then don’t follow her.

I saw it on Instagram a while ago- definitely didn't seek it out.
I just found the original video on youtube -

If people are happy and enjoy her music then great ... I am worried about the lengths some people seem to go to just to get tickets because their teenage daughters are 'desperate' and spend extortionate amounts ... I just genuinely hope they can afford them.
Personally I can't imagine spending that sort of money on an evening out ...

That's strange the only threads I've come across are the ones like this complaining about Taylor Swift. But yes they are pretty annoying

I don’t like the majority of her music and I don’t see the hype also.

But I wouldn’t let myself be annoyed by her fans. That’s really weird.

YABU - I really couldn't name a single song of hers but I understand that she composes her own songs and sings them live and puts on a great show. And seems that she's not selling sex as her meal ticket either, which is a bonus compared to many before and now.

I used to be really into David Essex when I was a young teen and many years later I can see why. Before you know it, Taylor will be gone, not that her UK prescence has made the slightest difference to most places.

Let the Swifties enjoy it I say.

FWIW I’ve heard Swifties can be a little “intense” online when it comes to defending their idol, but when my daughter told me about watching her live last week it sounded really quite wholesome- swapping friendship bracelets with other people, talking to strangers about their outfits and everyone singing and dancing and having a great time. No trouble at all, great atmosphere and TS puts on a great show. She also makes very generous donations to food banks in each city she’s been to so far. Doesn’t sound so bad imo.

I had not knowingly heard any of her songs, but as everyone is talking about her, I listened to a couple. They're not really my sort of music but they sounded happy and upbeat.

Given we are just out of a pandemic and the UK is generally in a dire state, it's great that TS is creating such a lot of happiness. From what I've read she is a good person. I'm no expert but I would guess she is producing more national happiness than the Euros at the moment.

(It says more about my age than anything that while watching a video I was wondering which washing machine code her sparkly outfit would need 😂)

Oh for goodness sake. Everyone is entitled to their own likes and dislikes but I find it nasty that people are judged because of it. If it makes people happy then leave them alone. There is enough misery in the world. People really are horrible. It's harmless fun and people liking a successful woman who I am more than happy for my daughters to follow given she is a good role model who is kind to her fans and doesn't use sex to sell herself. You don't see her falling down drunk or abusing people. You see her being generous, humble and helping others. God forbid people are allowed to have their own likes. People have always followed pop stars -leave them be. It's their choice. It's a sad person who has to belittle the choices of others.

18 years later, I can still see why I'm a fan of Taylor Swift. So why would that change (if that's what you meant). Still listen to a lot of 80s bands. I do remember "Winter's Tale" btw but don't know any other David Essex songs. I like that one.

Another thing people might like/be interested in - Blue Nile hard copies of their work sold out, I bet they weren't expecting that. Hope TS references The Devlins in an album, they're underrated IMHO.

I hadn’t seen that, I always thought he was a good guy! :-( Billie Joe Armstrong posted a photo of himself at one of her concerts on insta and was loving it, there were some shitty comments on the post though.

I don't get or like all the hysteria, the fans, the music to do with TS, but each to their own, I really couldn't be arsed starting yet another thread about it!!! Stick to what you like - simple! 🙄
