Something about Taylor swift and her swifties really grind my gears, I don't see the hype.

Don't be mean op...most of them are just young girls and teens. It has absolutely zero effect on your life.

Fun suckers annoy me. It’s something about the sheer miserableness of it.

I had not knowingly heard any of her songs, but as everyone is talking about her, I listened to a couple. They're not really my sort of music but they sounded happy and upbeat.

Given we are just out of a pandemic and the UK is generally in a dire state, it's great that TS is creating such a lot of happiness. From what I've read she is a good person. I'm no expert but I would guess she is producing more national happiness than the Euros at the moment.

(It says more about my age than anything that while watching a video I was wondering which washing machine code her sparkly outfit would need 😂)

Why? I’m no Taylor Swift fan but what’s wrong with people enjoying her music and concerts?

There was a lovely video of 2 girls dancing together at the Edinburgh gig, not a care in the world. Made me quite nostalgic. They are having fun and they aren’t hurting anyone.

People like her, you don't so just ignore her and everything surrounding her, don't open articles with her name in the headline, switch the channel over if she appears on tv but for the love of God, get a fricking life!!

I'm so sick of people bitching about her and I'm not even that much of a fan, I don't mind her songs, sing along to few of them, won't buy her stuff but people like her.

I'm not annoyed by Taylor Swift (music is not my taste, but inoffensive) and not by her fans - each to their own - but I do find the endless media hype a bit irritating. You'd think The Beatles had reformed, complete with John and George brought back from the dead 😃

I went to one of her gigs last week, it was so fun and one of the best evenings I've had at live music. She might not be everyone's cup of tea but I find it hard to understand why anyone would hate on someone else enjoying a good time dancing and singing.

YABU. I’m not a particular fan of hers but it’s lovely to see how her concerts bring together friend and family groups. I’ve been surprised by just how many of my friends have gone with their own Mum/Daughter for their very first gig. Long may it continue!

I think it's been confirmed that most of us are in the 35 - 64 age group, which makes sense given how long ago her career began. It's lovely to see the next generation getting into it though.

Regardless, I don't know why there are so many hater threads. We don't see them about other big acts.

To counteract the "piss on chips" thread, an anecdote that some people might like...

Andrew Scott was in the VIP tent at night three. And he wanted to use a Taylor song as the Moriarty ringtone in Sherlock, but the producer said no because they thought not enough people had heard of her.

I have had the pleasure of meeting him twice and that was one of our conversations. So I was really chuffed to see him in the VIP tent ..and there is a clip doing the rounds of him dancing to "look what you made me do" which would be a fantastic Moriarty ringtone!

If there's ever a revival, I totally want to see that happen. The producers do not have the same excuse now! 😂

I personally think Taylor Swift is mediocre, but each to their own.
Since seeing a video of a 28 year old woman hysterically crying because she missed a TS concert I concluded they are in fact (mostly) insane.

Fans will be fans . What I don’t get is the news coverage. Other major stars over the years, arguably much bigger stars haven’t had this coverage.

I think she has managed to be the soundtrack to a lot of peoples lives, and given space to those who have not been popular or had a hard time at points. From observing ‘swifties’ when taking my niece to a concert I noticed they all seemed to be genuinely nice kind people, and there were a LOT of people. Call it a cult if you will but there are worse things out there !

This made me lol. I find ‘the hype’ annoying too - not least because it makes mums feel they have to spend sometimes thousands on a concert - but NOT people who like Taylor, or Taylor. I think it’s great that they do like her. My peers had Take That and East 17 whose capacity for deep-thought was less clear.
