In case you want to continue the discussion.

If they can lie about women; they can't be trusted with anything.

DuesToTheDirt · 22/06/2024 20:41

Those issues are important, yes - though not as important as climate change, which is not mentioned in that list. It threatens every aspect of our existence.

However, I've been a feminist for over 50 years and I will not and cannot vote for a party which will give away my rights as a woman. It's a line in the sand for me.

So who would you trust more with the big stuff that impacts women's lives day to day? The NHS, schools, early years?

Luckily it’s just Mumsnet, so it won’t make a difference.

PupInAPram · 22/06/2024 20:42

@DuesToTheDirt I would rather Labour than Conservatives on climate change, that's for sure!

🙄
Do you say the same about the Tories, clown? Because they equally believe some males are "legally women".

I really hope all these posters are going to have the courage of their convictions and abstain if they are single issue voters. They could vote reform I guess but its stuffed to the gills with misogynists and Farage is a fan of Andrew Tate, so not exactly woman friendly

Doingtheboxerbeat · 22/06/2024 20:43

I agree with you OP 💯 - I live in a high crime area with so much poverty - this issue is so far from my radar, I literally can't worry about this in my life.

Teamsaction · 22/06/2024 20:45

For me its the start of everything. If they give away women's rights, how can my daughter do well at school, play sports. By protesting this rights that I feel very very strongly about will I be investigated by the police, dismissed from job etc etc

The Tories say some males are legally women because sadly some males are legally women. It's not a situation they created, but one they are trying to mitigate whilst Labour are promising to make it worse.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 22/06/2024 20:47

Not sure about 'saying it best'. That poster states it's 'the issue of 0.1% who identify as trans women'.

It's not.

It's the issue of men in women's spaces. Women's rights to single sex provision and sports. If that wasn't apparent and understood after nearly 1000 posts then 🤦‍♀️.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 22/06/2024 20:48

For me it's an issue of credibility as well.

Do I want to vote for people who say that women who need single sex spaces are "dinosaurs who hoard rights" and that convicted rapists should be allowed to serve their sentences in women's prisons if they want to?

No.

Do I think that someone who says one in every thousand women has a penis should be running the country?

No. What a time to be alive.

It doesn't exactly say "sane and competent", does it?

If they willing to tell me that 1% of women have a penis, they are either mad, liars, or stupid.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/06/2024 20:50

YY @MissScarletInTheBallroom it says people are weak, credulous or both. Not a winning approach.

DrNickedMaCorpus · 22/06/2024 20:50

Women are free to talk about politics, and free to vote for whomever we please.

To be honest I don't think any of the parties can make much difference. It would require a radical overhaul of the way we live our lives, which would be deeply unpopular, and would still only have a small impact on world emissions. I guess that's why it's not top of any party's agenda.

Or just willing to jump on any bandwagon, however stupid.

Where is their integrity?

PupInAPram · 22/06/2024 20:52

I'm talking about the big important issues that affect most women in their real day to day lives. There are so many concerns, but trans women is not one of them.

Can you list which concerns women are allowed to have and which are not acceptable?

MuchasSmoochas · 22/06/2024 20:55

Like JKR I’m a single issue voter. I worked in Higher Education where 1 in 5 women aged 18-25 are survivors of sexual assault. Where female Muslim students dropped out because of TW in the toilets. Where I left a career I loved because a female student was disciplined because she complained she felt unsafe in toilets with TW. These were not privileged women. Sexual assault is a leveller and happens regardless of socio economic status. I’m 51 and this is the most important social issue I’ve ever experienced.
I’ve got my postal vote sealed with an X for Labour but unless Starmer issues a statement re Rosie Duffield I am ripping it up.
Thank you JKR 💪

And someone who goes around saying that some women have a penis is the best person to grapple with those issues, is he?

Did you read your previous thread? The one where numerous women highlighted their concerns about men? (Again for the people in the cheap seats at the back - men. However they identify).

When Starmer says that he's called a liar.
When the Tories say it, its a fact 🤔

They've had 14 years to fix it, if they wanted to. They could have put repealing the GRA in their manifesto. They didn't.

I would love to hear Sunak held to the same standard as Starmer on this. Ain't gonna happen because a lot of the noise is about being "anti left" rather than pro women.

I ask myself that frequently when I read posts from single issue voters.

PupInAPram · 22/06/2024 20:59

The shadow cabinet is 50% women. It's also looking 100% more capable than the Conservatives!
