In other words, people don't vote Green mainly because they think they have no chance.

Their manifesto on Education seems to correspond with a lot of views on mumsnet, aibu?

Yes I'll vote green I'm done with tactical voting and can't abide torries but labour aren't the right party for me.

Less intervention and more choice for women in labour is a good thing, personally I would want to ban forceps.

I don't agree with their trans policy entirely but it appears based on wanting to respect people's identities and I don't oppose that so long as women's spaces are still upheld. No party has very effectively focused on women's rights - the legal system is appalling and is heavily victim blaming.

As a society I think mass consumerism is a real concern, as a country we don't work we buy in - be it food, clothing or medical expertise etc. This impacts the economy, workforce, pollution, waste and is ethically misguided.

Why wouldn't we want to protect our planet, green space and nature? It isn't a hippy whim it's essential for our lives, our children and grandchildren.

Make public transport less expensive and help so many as well as the environment.

No, people don't vote Green because they are women hating wankers.

That seems to be an wander through your own beliefs. Do you really know how far they tally with what the Green Party actually do when they have some power?

Have you had a look at the 'achievements' of Scottish Greens in coalition?

Not this for starters: so long as women's spaces are still upheld.

More choice yes. Not necessarily less intervention. If a woman wants a c section, she should be able to have one, no ifs, ands, buts or targets.

siameselife · 19/06/2024 16:43

Before they get anywhere near power they will become less radical and drop some of the dafter stuff,

I thought that before they went into government in Scotland, if anything their beliefs seemed to get more extreme and their capacity to accept different views smaller.

OrwellianTimes · 19/06/2024 16:47

The Green Party utterly screwed up recycling in Brighton, so no, I don’t think they stand for what they are meant to.

jeaux90 · 19/06/2024 16:56

Greens are batshit, some of the nonsense they talk in Scottish Parliament just beggars belief.

Oh yes and they are woman hating w⚓️s

zaxxon · 19/06/2024 16:58

It's admirable that they prioritise the environment, but their manifesto is so unworkable that it's laughable. Aren't they promising something like £140bn in extra spending?

I'm not bothered about the sex/gender issue, but their continuing insistence on legalising drugs is enough to ensure I'll never vote for them.

CaravaggiosCat · 19/06/2024 17:22

No bloody chance. Rather vote Tory.

TheKeatingFive · 19/06/2024 17:25

The Greens in government in Scotland are insane. So a hard no from me.

LakieLady · 19/06/2024 17:26

If they stood more chance of beating a Tory candidate than any other party*, yes.

I've been voting tactically for over 30 years. I'm a Labour party member living in a Lib/Con marginal seat, so the LDs always get my vote in general elections.

Most of my Labour supporting friends do the same here.

*except for Reform. I'd never vote for them.

mondaytosunday · 19/06/2024 17:31

I don't care if they were going to get 99% of the vote I wouldn't vote for them.

Starchipenterprise · 19/06/2024 17:35

No they hate women. Their education plan is not to my liking. So no. We have a green MP near us. Won on a protest vote on a local Issue. Not a word from them since!!

SoEmbarrassed2024 · 19/06/2024 17:39

Absolutely not

RedToothBrush · 19/06/2024 17:41

I've read their manifesto.

They have a screw loose and are disconnected with reality.

I support green initiatives. The problem with the greens isn't their green initiatives.

Sparrow7 · 19/06/2024 17:43

Yes

sundaysathome · 19/06/2024 17:45

Shade17 · 19/06/2024 11:26

Fuck no, tree-hugging twats.

this sums it up perfectly 🤣

AlwaysCloudyAtNoon · 19/06/2024 17:50

PeonySeasons · 19/06/2024 11:35

Absolutely no chance.

Forcing women to go through vaginal birth by denying them a cesarean section is a weird platform for any party.

See also: men are not women and gaslighting us doesn't make it true.

And fantasy promises like 70% of all UK electricity to come from wind power by 2030 are just horseshit. Why lie?

This.

Judellie · 19/06/2024 17:56

No. I have seen what they did to Scotland.

MrsToothyBitch · 19/06/2024 18:13

I would never vote for them. Not as a woman. They hate us. And certainly not what after their performance in Scotland.

If my constituency elected a Green I'd sell up whilst my property was still worth something and whilst the area still looked presentable to sell.

Triestre · 19/06/2024 19:24

Silviasilvertoes · 19/06/2024 11:50

Donald, is that you?

🙄why people do this is so childish

Triestre · 19/06/2024 19:26

SlothOnARope · 19/06/2024 13:48

By nature I am an idealistic optimist (read, idiot). The situation in my home town has taken that glass, poured out the contents and shattered it into pieces.

Voting for the status quo and expecting different makes me a complete fool.

Vote who, then. Literally nobody has a better suggestion, nobody.

Where are you OP?

stressedespresso · 19/06/2024 19:30

Triestre · 19/06/2024 19:24

🙄why people do this is so childish

Well if the shoe fits.. sounds like Donald to me!

AlmostThereMaybe · 19/06/2024 19:30

No.

Triestre · 19/06/2024 19:31

‘Exactly like my home town destroyed and bled dry by (mainly) Labour. It is now a fully-fledged crime ridden shithole I can't afford to move out of.’

Wales? Where? I am pretty sure we will see a massive corruption. It is always the same coin on a different side. I don’t have any hope.
