I mean WTAF? (Source Telegraph) Ovarian Cancer Action has actually stated this.Would be bad enough generally ,but I am undergoing Treatment for this ATM, and just think it sounds ludicrous .Have been in touch with them before now and they seemed quite helpful .Feel a bit affronted ! AIBU they can say what they think,YANBU They should stick to the facts and not upset people already ill?

Hmmmmm, don’t you have to have ovaries to have ovarian cancer? And I don’t think men have ovaries. At least, that’s what I was taught at school. But was at school a long time ago. Maybe Homo sapiens has evolved quite rapidly in the last 40 years … [shrug]

Eh?

Im assuming you mean intersex? Well they wouldn’t know… but no amount of wording would change that!

No.
How does a human who is not allowed to be called a girl any more know whether she or he or they or zhey or zhem has a cervix?

CactusMactus · 11/06/2024 11:09

I don't understand why we can't have:
Women
Men
Transmen
Transwomen
People

So women and transmen can get ovarian cancer.

Don't forget non binary people. Some of them can get ovarian cancer, too.

On the surface that would be a lovely idea.

But in reality it’s caused dangerous disastrous results for women and children.

Even if you think adults should be able to do what they want - have a thought about what’s been happening to children. That’s unforgivable.

Transmen are WOMEN, @MrsSunshine2b .

"people with ovaries can get ovarian cancer." is the most controversial statement. ONLY WOMEN get ovarian cancer.

Saying women can get ovarian cancer is the less controversial, and most proper way.

As women, saying 'people with ovaries' is deeply dehumanising and offensive. If you can't see that, then I don't know what to tell you. OP is already going through cancer for something ONLY women can get, and she not even granted being recognised as a woman by these misogynistic organisations!

And yet you're here deliberately misgendering cancer victims.

SoreAndTired1 · 11/06/2024 12:20

MrsSunshine2b · 11/06/2024 12:09

And yet you're here deliberately misgendering cancer victims.

You mean CORRECTLY-SEXING. They, are deliberately 'misgendering' themselves. Take your misogynistic agenda elsewhere. Having cancer of SEX organs is a SEX-based issue. Not a 'gender identity' issue. That is why correct SEX-based language matters. Not mis-sexing.

Cattenberg · 11/06/2024 12:21

Which is worst?

Hurting a trans person’s feelings by misgendering them, or a vulnerable woman missing out on an early diagnosis of cancer because she didn’t realise she was a “person with a cervix”/“person with ovaries”.

MrsSunshine2b · 11/06/2024 12:24

There's nothing misogynistic about respecting the rights of transmen to be who they are. There's nothing misogynistic about respecting the rights of people with cancer to be treated according to their specific circumstances.

SoreAndTired1 · 11/06/2024 12:27

An American feminist has said there is a court case there about a man who is refusing Prostate cancer treatment; he genuinely thinks he is now a woman so therefore doesn't need treatment for the prostate.

This, is how beyond FUCKED UP this whole Gender Ideology cult is and how it has lead to such ambiguous language and confusion, and lead to DEATHS. This is a mental illness and a mass social contagion that is causing deaths. This, is literally killing people! And anyone who is complicit with this cult has blood on their hands.

There's everything misogynistic about ignoring, excluding and alienating women and endangering the health of some of them with skewed messaging.

There is everything misogynistic with removing the word woman, and centring MEN over women. It's a very, very dangerous cult that represents the very embodiment and nucleus of Male Supremacy. When you refuse to say the word woman, you DEHUMANISE women.

No-one has removed the word women. Some people who get ovarian cancer are women. Some are men or non-binary. If you really think than men with cancer represent a dangerous cult, then there's no help for you. I'm a woman, I'm guessing you are also a woman. Good for you. I have ovaries and I am at risk of ovarian cancer. I also know people who are women but do not have ovaries, and I know men who do have ovaries. Perhaps you should mind your own business about people's internal organs.

Chersfrozenface · 11/06/2024 12:35

I also know people who are women but do not have ovaries, and I know men who do have ovaries.

Then the people you know are not men. Men do not have ovaries. Any more than bulls or stallions or billy goats do. It's a matter of mammalian biology, binary and immutable.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/06/2024 12:36

Some people who get ovarian cancer are women. Some are men or non-binary.

Nope. Every person who is unfortunate enough to get ovarian cancer is a woman - human female. Some may be masculine (transmen) or androgynous, many will be gender nonconforming without feeling the need for a special label, it's nothing to do with gender, purely a matter of sex.

Please stop lying!! Men do NOT get ovarian cancer. ONLY women get ovarian cancer. 'Non-binary' is not even a real thing. You sound brainwashed.

And no, you don't know ANY men who have ovaries. As it's not even physically possible. You don't even know what a male or a female is. You're an example of how confused this gender cult brainwashing makes people.

What do you mean "the rights of transmen to be who they are"? They are female. With ovaries. Women. They will be treated medically in the same way as all other women.

Although as an aside it would be interesting to find out whether using cross-sex hormones increases ovarian cancer risk. Women with PCOS (and naturally higher levels of testosterone) have an increased risk, so I would be surprised if women who take high levels of testerone don't have a much higher risk of ovarian cancer. I suspect there isn't enough data yet to know for sure.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/06/2024 12:37

Including transmen does not exclude women.

Of course, not, because they are women.

Men don't have ovaries. Come on, you can't possibly believe that. Gender ideology is such an odd religion.

In the same way that using the word women doesn't exclude transmen. Because they know they are biologically women.

And their circumstances when it comes to medical issues is based on their sex, which is female. Not their personal beliefs which is not a medical issue. Their rights are not impeded on by recognising their sex of being a girl/woman.

All humans that get ovarian cancer are women. It’s that simple. They may personally hold beliefs that they are a different gender but that is irrelevant to basic biological medical needs.
