I'm excited as we are coming into the summer.

And AIBU gets the most people.

I love hearing about other people's travels.

I am going to Spain for two weeks. One week in valencia and one week in benidorm.

London for 4 days in June
Galloway and Dumfries for 5 days in August
We do have a tourer caravan in the dales which we visit every few weeks.
I think over the next few years we may get rid of it as we cannot afford to travel abroad and have the caravan. Would love to do some more European city breaks, a cruise or a US trip but can’t do both sadly.

Waitingfordoggo · 25/05/2024 08:00

We are due to go to Canada (Ottawa) next month and Norway at the end of August. I would normally try to take no more than one flight a year (return obvs) but Norway is my best friend’s wedding so making an exception for that!

But DH has had an injury recently and is waiting to hear if he needs surgery so Canada might not happen.

DelilahBucket · 25/05/2024 08:01

Love a travel thread! We're off to Montenegro for a fortnight, no idea what to expect as we've not been before. Then we've got a trip to Scotland, Edinburgh first then Nairn afterwards.

Already been! Road trip round the Peloponnese.

Amazing but any later we would have found it too hot.

Tell me more, we were planning on doing that this year but not sure I am a confident enough driver .

Sunnnybunny72 · 25/05/2024 08:12

Have been to Valencia and Gran Canaria.
Palma in July.
Dubrovnik in October.
Considering a Greek island for September.

Wonderwall23 · 25/05/2024 08:16

We are going to the Isle of Wight. Have some great memories of it as a child but this is first time for my own DS. Am anticipating another rainy school holidays but at least IOW might stand a chance as one of the sunniest places in UK.

Icequeen01 · 25/05/2024 08:16

We had 4 days in Amsterdam over the Easter holidays and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. DH wanted to go but for some reason it didn't appeal. I now would like to go back.

We have also booked to go to Crete for 10 days in August (annoyingly DH has just semi-retired but I still work full time in a school so are still restricted to the school holidays). We went to this area in Crete last year but had a private villa with a pool as DS23 came along too. He's not coming this year so we've booked a lovely hotel. Praying the temps won't be as high there this year as last year was VERY hot.

Whatineed · 25/05/2024 08:40

@Carloadofplants19 are you going to ride the train? I booked this year's ago for a friend as we had a 5 day stay in Thailand on the way back from Australia.

Stayed in a beautiful hotel overnight after the train journey bordering Burma, which included a kayak trip at the destination.

Very moving visit and very beautiful scenery.

Dozycuntlaters · 25/05/2024 08:44

I went to Jamaica in January which I absolutely love.

I did Amsterdam for four days at Easter which I didn't love. Amsterdam itself is a beautiful city but it was crazy busy, too many people for me with a high risk of getting run over by a bike.

I'm going to Canada in July. Flying to Niva Scotia then doing a road trip up Niagra. Very excited about that, although it is not going to be a relaxing holiday at all.

I love Benidorm OP, out of season it's beautiful.

TribeofFfive · 25/05/2024 08:48

We went to Spain for Easter. We’re off to Rhodes in August and Italy in October half term.

Will try and book a few little caravan breaks for weekends between July - September but need to work it around sports comps & birthdays.

Lottelenya · 25/05/2024 08:55

I’m a bit mind boggled by the amounts people are spending (not envious btw).
How much do people on average spend because it sounds like thousands a year !

Whatineed · 25/05/2024 08:55

Weekend in Glasgow earlier this year.

Summer will be an Italian road trip ending with a house boat stay near Venice.

Hopefully a cheapo Morroco week in September.

London beginning December for a concert and shopping trip.

I am LOVING all the trips to Taylor!!!!

She's created a whole new tourist economy by the sounds of it!

Moier · 25/05/2024 09:00

I love a travel thread.
Right now I'm typing from Cyprus ( Paphos area) We went to Fueterventura and Lanzarote for some winter sun.
Hopefully going to Portugal next.. then Corfu in September.
But also looking to go to Florida.

raspberryjamjar · 25/05/2024 09:02

Am here now!

Spain at the moment.

Already done Gower, got Devon lined up and a couple of weekends away in London with DS.

Bluebunnylover · 25/05/2024 09:09

Love talking about holidays! Been for a week in lanzarote in February. Off to turkey in august with another couple so should be fun. Plus girls weekend to Palma in July!

89redballoons · 25/05/2024 09:16

Just got back from a lovely week on a farm stay in North Cornwall. We've booked to go again next year but DS1 is starting school this September, so we're tied to school holidays from then on and it's £700 more for a week next Easter than we just paid 😒

We're going to try and get a week at Bluestone in July, and also this year will visit DS2's godmother in Edinburgh which will be the first time the kids have been on a plane. That will either be October half term or maybe a weekend sometime.

mywoowoo · 25/05/2024 09:18

Off to center parcs next weekend to celebrate my 40th. Went to Portugal in Feb for some winter sun and off to Mexico in August. As it's a big birthday year I feel like doing a few other bits and bobs so looking at Paris possibly in October half term.
We also have our touring caravan on a seasonal pitch this year on the east coast so have been able to have lots of lovely weekends away there as well. We also go to see my in-laws in Scotland every 6 weeks and having a couple of days up there next week as well. Having holidays to look forward to keeps me going and luckily my husband loves going away as well.

IamGrout · 25/05/2024 10:08

Some years we have one big holiday in Summer and do a few UK weekend breaks through the year, some years we do lots of short breaks and no big main holiday. We aren't fixed to anything and just see what opportunities come up.

We have a mix of weekend and long breaks booked this year.

A week near Norwich, Norfolk in Feb half term
A week near Bodmin, Cornwall at Easter
4 days long weekend in Billund, Denmark a few weeks ago
4 days in the New Forest this week for half term
A week in Istanbul, Turkey - end of July
2 weeks in Florida USA - end of August

We haven't booked anything for Oct half term yet, but quite fancy going back to Denmark as it was so lovely. Likely will do another few nights away in the UK before then.

Livelovebehappy · 25/05/2024 10:19

Corfu with a swim up. Had to pay a premium for it, and would be interested to hear if anyone else has done this? Did it so no stress with getting sunbeds, but now wondering about whether we will be in the shade for most of the day, depending on which apartment we have.

bolwin1 · 25/05/2024 10:38

Have been on a short break to Center Parcs earlier this month. Trip to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Denmark & Sweden planned for July. Big family trip (for a wedding) to Florida in November. May get a couple of European city breaks arranged September time, but tbc.

Carly944 · 25/05/2024 10:40

I was also just thinking of places I've been to that were off the tourist trail. That I thought were so beautiful.

I went to a small village in Romania one time
And I went hiking. It was so beautiful

Turkey. First family holiday I have never been able to take my kids on holiday before as I can't afford to so we are all really excited. Fwiw I've always loved reading threads about people's holidays in the past despite not being able to go anywhere myself.

A lot of Flights around Europe are 30 _40 with Ryanair.

Sometimes it's cheaper to go abroad than to travel in the UK.

I bought a flight to Spain, that was cheaper than my train in the UK to get to the airport
