The general feeling on social media is that the Tories will be obliterated in the upcoming GE. AIBU to not be surprised if they get voted in again?

I'll be voting Labour as I have always done.

Labour is the only option where I live, to get rid of my Reform MP.

There are no Reform MPs. The party didn’t even exist at the last election.

Edited - I think I misunderstood, I forgot about Anderson, didn’t I? Sorry. 😔

Lifesd · 23/05/2024 00:56

I’d be spoiling my ballot in protest if I was still
in the UK - 2 cheeks of the same arse to coin a phrase from a PP

CannotbebotheredNope · 23/05/2024 00:56

Not Tory but undecided.

If you were in the UK currently you’d know that’s bullshit.

kernea · 23/05/2024 00:59

One of the independent candidates (don't know who will be standing, but there are always a couple). Labour will win in my constituency - they have won the past 13 GEs and the majority was over 33000 at the last one.

NoMoreFalafelForYou · 23/05/2024 01:02

I honestly don’t know. I have voted for all the major parties at different times. Voted Conservative last time. I really feel this current group of Labour politicians will be a disaster. They have no-one with the vision of Blair or the brains of Brown. And not a scintilla of charisma between them.

The only good thing will be Labour voters seeing their party make an even bigger mess of things and having no-one to blame.

I might vote for an independent this time.

Helloandgoodmorning2 · 23/05/2024 01:02

Not Tories and never Labour ever again. So let down by Blair!

Ds has just rung me, he's seen that letters are going in to the 1922 committee tonight to oust Rishi Sunak, if they can get him out & a new leader installed, apparently the new leader can cancel the election if they want within 2 weeks from today*

No serious contender is going to stand for leader now. It will be political suicide. They will wait for the defeat and resignation and then stand.

If there was going to be a serious leadership challenge it would have been after the recent local elections but the silence was deafening, even from the usual troublemakers. They may be cut-throat opportunists but they’re not daft.

urbanbuddha · 23/05/2024 01:05

Labour. It’s a Labour/Conservative marginal.

Dibblydoodahdah · 23/05/2024 01:09

Tory.

Lifesd · 23/05/2024 01:15

@blossomtoes I left in January so I’ve a good idea 👍 both DH and I didn’t want to stick around for the shitshow to come.

Fiddlersgreen · 23/05/2024 01:15

“In December 2023, the Labour Party included the seat in its published list of 211 non-battleground seats, suggesting they did not see it as winnable”

Lib Dem it is then. My areas a pretty safe seat for Lib Dem anyway

Sorry didn’t mean to add a link

marie3e · 23/05/2024 01:18

Not sure this time, I aways voted labour, but the SNP have really come through for Scottish people the past few years, introducing the Scottish child payment and a reasonable threshold for Scottish disability and sickness benefits. What they can't fix without independence is the NHS, although maybe we need to think about the long term anyway- Conservatives will always come back for a 20 year stretch at some point whatever happens now

The votes from the MN jury thus far
Tories ….. Nil points
its not looking good for Roland Rat and his rat fans is it 😬🥴😂

Well now I’m torn. I’ve always voted Lab or LD, but I do like rats.

onegrumpyoldwoman · 23/05/2024 01:30

Who says there's even going to be a General Election ??

The last I heard was there's a Tory plot to scupper it - lead by those Tories who know they will lose their seats.

Watch this space,,,,

Tactical to keep the SNP out of our constituency. Will need to work out who that is though...

i found this website quite useful for tactical voting against the snp. I’ll be voting Lib Dem for that reason. Scotland needs a change!

@Cornishpasty342 are you kidding ? It's as if the government actually cares about us these days

Callmemel · 23/05/2024 02:12

Labour. No question about it.

I'm amused by the Tory bots on here going into overdrive with their usual playbook of unadulterated bollocks.

Why answer to say that? Did it make you feel better?

I’d have to disagree. I feel completely let down by the Scottish government and know many others feel the same. Education is worse than ever, drugs deaths continuing to rise, continued neglect to the country outwith the central belt, lifeline ferries now nearly 10 years late from original completion date plus it’s cost us billions in additional costs and an obsession with independence when there are far more important issues to address first. That’s not mentioning the embezzlement or Greens fiasco. My partner has been a SNP voter his whole life, avid independence supporter and even he is sick of them.

QueenBitch666 · 23/05/2024 02:21

Spoilt ballot here. 1st time in my 62 years

That's all fair enough, about independence though -I dunno, I always hesitated, it was like a loyalty to England, to the UK, like they needed us maybe, to help fix the place, but the older I get and the more I experience this state of affairs the more I lose hope in them wanting to sort it out long term. I feel like Scotland could be one of the greatest nations to live on the planet, if we were finally just free

Willywaitingforbreakfast · 23/05/2024 02:39

I cannot stand rishi so anyone likely labour

ToWhitToWhoo · 23/05/2024 02:40

LibDem, as it's the tactical choice in my constituency, and I like my LibDem MP. If I lived somewhere else, I'd likely vote Labour.
