Which jobs would put you off dating someone?

But which jobs would be red flags for you and you can't imagine going out with someone who does this?

Mine would be-

Tory MP/aide/minister- or anything to do with the Tory party
Scaffolder
Stripper
Porn star
PT/fitness instructor/gym owner
Nightclub owner/ manager

I haven’t read the whole thread, but this is what I get from the first couple of pages… a woman who doesn’t work is complaining about how unattractive she finds the job choices of men she hypothetically knows who do work? The hypocrisy and arrogance of some people is absolutely amazing.

Ps. A scaffolder is not beneath you love.

Tory anything would me top of my list and so refreshing to see this on Mumsnet. Sometimes there’s only one thing you need to know about a person.

When a guy told me he was a bailiff, I knew I couldn’t go out with him. Just killed the romance dead.
He told me cheerfully with enthusiasm that the contents of most people’s house was worth far less than they thought. He really enjoyed his job.

this made me laugh. Why a circus clown?

Anything to do with working around mortuaries, pest control ( frightened of anything being brought home), people who clean up crime scenes, butchers, undertakers

The big shoes cluttering up the hallway? Always having to take your car because the doors keep falling off his?

As long as the work is legitimate, I wouldn't care what their job was.

Police, Military, Butcher, Nightshift, any stressful long hours job

Same. I absolutely couldn't be around anyone who works with the dead. No slight on them, they are doing an admirable job but being OCD all I'm thinking of is all the "death particles" on their clothes. I'm no scientist so I don't know how it works, but if cadaver dogs can detect where a body was months later I'm guessing it sticks around...I just can't stand the thought of it.

@AnnieSnap most chefs I've met are very highly strung I just wouldn't go out with a chef again.

I can't honestly say the 'job' would put me off, but maybe their lack of a job, how they are with their job (any job) and if they are a judgmental dickhead about other jobs, or just being a dick head would put me off.

Their job would need to be legitimate mind, no career criminals or fiddle jobs.

Drug dealer, banker, security guard, sex worker of any kind nightclub or pub owner, perpetually unemployed gap yar types.

I was a dating snob and yet ended up marrying a scaffolder (32 years ago) who is kind, sensitive and generous after being pursuaded to go on a date by a friend I trusted. Best decision of my life.
