BobbyBiscuits · 21/05/2024 11:27

Of course, everyone has to do something, so this is light-hearted.

But which jobs would be red flags for you and you can't imagine going out with someone who does this?

Mine would be-

Tory MP/aide/minister- or anything to do with the Tory party
Scaffolder
Stripper
Porn star
PT/fitness instructor/gym owner
Nightclub owner/ manager

Interesting to hear yours!

Funeral home person (brain fog! What are they called?
Abattoir worker
Anything to do with death really...
Tory
Debt collector
Prison guard
Police

Undertakers … and I agree with your whole list.

Justleaveitblankthen · 21/05/2024 23:28

Any Scientist that tests on animals.

FairviewRosie24 · 21/05/2024 23:33

Been with my 16 year ex army boy, now security for 8 years now. Fact that he’s a trained masseur is a bonus lol ☺️

Any politician
Anyone long term unemployed
I prefer someone with a career rather than a 'job'. I wouldn't mind a builder with his own company but wouldn't be attracted to a labourer for example.

I'm married to a wonderful, kind, loyal, generous, hard working police officer and he's the best husband and father possible. I count my lucky stars every day I have him.

Why are you shagging them?

I say I feel like a Geisha not because I have sex with clients on work trips. But as a management consultant (a junior one at that) I am very much encouraged to go to these boozy dinners and keep clients “happy”. Often I want to go back to my hotel order a takeaway and sleep but it is made very clear that that is not the done thing.

Low level sexual harassment is suppressed by partners who highlight the promotions that await those that comply. On my second work trip abroad I ended up in a strip club. The sick men that took me knew I was unsure and overwhelmed by the power disparity. I must have been 22 with these disgusting middle aged pervs.

@Revelatio Most of the scaffolders I've come across can't string a sentence together without at least 3 'F' words in it. That would be a definite no for me!

Yep. Had a couple next door the other week and they were awful. Crap music on loudly, swearing, shouting etc

This is so funny.

What's wrong with fishermen & farmers???

Farmers have to work very long hours starting in the wee hours of the morning. I couldn't cope with that personally. I want some down time with a partner!

TheaBrandt · 22/05/2024 07:21

Also farmers can never go on holiday and you get dragged in to be a farmers wife. Wouldn’t fancy that.

For me it’s place specific. When I was single and dating I turned down a nice man because of where he lived and would never have dated an Australian or NZ man either.

TheDumpling · 22/05/2024 09:33

Any sort of Porno,

Butchers/slaughterhouse/animal labs/cruelty/death/breeders.

Tobacconist/vapes, e's etc.

Bailiff/debt collectors.

Those who are unemployed for long periods of time but only if it's not CAN'T get a job but WON'T!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 22/05/2024 09:36

Not having a job would put me off more than any actual job.

Westfacing · 22/05/2024 09:37

A number of people have mentioned 'Porn' - isn't that bit like saying you wouldn't date a paedophile, in that it doesn't need to be said!

Public sector
Union Reps
Charity workers
Anyone in the arts ((lefty luvvvies)

Why on earth would you object to a charity worker? I'd have thought it's a good indictment that someone cares about others. Mind you, given the rest of your list... raises one eyebrow

That’s a pretty wide net. No doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, teachers, civil servants, local government, armed forces, police, firemen, social workers, environmental officers, probation workers, university lecturers, actors, artists, musicians, jugglers and pavement mime artists. I can agree with the last.

Anyone in the emergency services, armed forces, politics, sales, charities, prison service, investment banking, "event organisers", "influencers", lorry drivers, train or bus drivers etc.

IsThePopeCatholic · 22/05/2024 10:26

Butcher, astrologer, soldier, police, estate agent, Tory mp / councilor/ aide , furrier.

Well this is light hearted, so I thought it needed some balance, since everyone else seems to be a socialist vegan 😁

AnnieSnap · 22/05/2024 17:59

Anyone associated with the Tory Party, Police, Butcher, abattoir worker, animal farmer. That’s probably it for me!

TheEternalForever · 22/05/2024 18:15

Armed Forces (moreso soldiers/combatants rather than say an engineer/civi staff)
Police
Bookies
Vape shop owner (didn't even think of this one until someone else mentioned it lol but I agree)
Politicians in general (I think many if not most of them have some level of untrustworthiness in order to do it)
Slaughterhouse/butcher (can't stand the smell of a butchers, wouldn't be able to be with one)
Male professional footballers
Long term/chronically unemployed (aka not just between jobs with a reason)

TheEternalForever · 22/05/2024 18:17

More porn actors, strippers etc than you'd think are married/in committed relationships

IsawwhatIsaw · 22/05/2024 18:21

Debt collector
bailiff
estate agent
Tory - in any capacity

themagicnumberthree · 22/05/2024 18:23

MargoLivebetter · 21/05/2024 11:50

Any sewage related profession (couldn't cope with the smell)

I'm married to a sewage worker (waste water treatment operative) and it's a winner- they shower before coming home and wash their work clothes on site, so my husband comes home freshly showered every day without generating any laundry

No- wouldn't be for me but if you were both in the industry I can imagine it would work fine.

Lincslady53 · 22/05/2024 18:46

One of our good friends was a scaffolder. He packed up before he was 60, and they now live in a beautiful villa in the hills behind Malaga.
