Baked 23 cookies, dh ate 8 of them

I baked some cookies after dinner, like I do most weekends so the kids had some slightly less unhealthy snacks to go in their lunch boxes and to just have in the house. At the end of the night I went to put them in a container from the cooling rack and only 14 remained. I had one, so dh took 8 of them in the two hours since I cooked them! What kind of shitty self control is that.

I feel more pissed off that I took a little bit of time to do something nice (mainly for the kids, we're adults, we don't need bloody biscuits), and he's just gone for it with no respect for anyone else. Only apologised when I called him out for it. Ugh.

OP posts:

Thing is someone who is willing to eat 8 in 2 hours isn't likely to stop there and leave the rest for other people I don't think

Log it with 101

You’ve never necked a packet of Jaffa cakes in ten mins..?

10 minutes! Amateur, I can do it in 3

Allthesea · 18/05/2024 22:54

They sounds delicious.

And tiny.

1 teaspoon of mixture per cookie?!

Bet 8 of them only count as 2 adult male sized cookies 😁

TinaYouFatLard · 18/05/2024 22:03

Next time make fat balls - that’ll learn him.

(Anyone else old enough to remember this one?)

@TinaYouFatLard

yeah & still makes me 😁

Alainlechat · 18/05/2024 23:05

My mum made 12 muffins and my dad ate 10 of them in one day once. Due to this gluttony she refused to make any more for several weeks!

He tried to blame me, my friends, the dog etc but sure enough he had eaten them.

TheHateIsNotGood · 18/05/2024 23:05

You must make some mighty-fine cookies OP; many can't and their dc and dh's eat them only to keep the peace.

Gobbling 8 in a day is a sure sign of great cookies or hunger brought on by a lack of cooking skills in the household which I very much doubt.

Or, your DH could just be a greedy bastard in which case make a double batch and excuse yourself from BJ duties or, better still, make a treble batch and send a third to me.

Catnipcupcakes · 18/05/2024 23:06

I was thinking you might have a point but you lost me at we’re adults we don’t need biscuits. Children don’t either.

Take it as a compliment. He’s a happy husband if he snarfed 8 of your cookies straight out of the oven.

Codlingmoths · 18/05/2024 23:07

You could promise the kids daddy will bake with them next weekend?

AprilShowerslastforHours · 18/05/2024 23:08

I'm surprised by the replies here. It doesn't matter how small they were they were a treat for the whole family. If it had been a box of chocolates I can't believe as many people would say it would be fair for him to eat a third just because they're tiny.

I wouldn't be impressed, OP.

YouBoggleMyMind · 18/05/2024 23:13

23 is an odd number of cookies to bake.

YouBoggleMyMind · 18/05/2024 23:15

MonsteraMama · 18/05/2024 22:37

I'm sorry I'm hung up on the fact you made 23 cookies.

What sort of godless heathen doesn't make an even number?

While we're at it I'd also like to refute your claim that adults don't need biscuits.

This. 23 is weird.

Sevenwondersofthewoo · 18/05/2024 23:15

Necking Jaffa cakes is brilliant never timed myself just looked at the empty box going oops and necking my crisps afterwards

least he apologised

now take the piss as you will 😜

ILoveYouItsRuiningMyLife · 18/05/2024 23:21

Crisps before Jaffa cake. Savoury then sweet!

PostalPanic · 18/05/2024 23:22

Shrug..... I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles....

AliTheMinx · 18/05/2024 23:23

Also baffled by the 23?! That's the most unreasonable thing... 🤣

My guess is the Recipe was probably for 12 cookies, but OP only used a teaspoon of mix per cookie and she managed to eek 23 out of it.

2Old2Tango · 18/05/2024 22:09

Nope. I have more self control than that. I like a cookie or a biscuit but would never eat that many at once.

Its been known for me to eat cookies ive baked.... A lot lol. I leave for others oc but he hasn't eaten them all...14 left..enough for lunch boxes

Actually no. OP has 3 kids so, 5 days in the week, she needed 15 cookies for lunch boxes.

So if you really want to shame him OP, then mention at the next family meal that since there are only 14 cookies left one of the DC will have to do without one day. How do they want to decide it? Will one of them volunteer or do they want to toss a coin or draw lots or something. Basically make it really clear that his gluttony directly results in one of his children having to do without a treat.

Sounds a bit drastic and PA I know but I bet he won't do it again

The op shared the recipe in one post, didn’t you read it? It is definitely not a 12 cookie recipe, it looks more like a 24 quite large cookies recipe and if you want to make them smaller you can get about 40.

Some of you people must never bake. You don't always get exactly the expected number out of a recipe

Ha I’d do this. ‘Daddy is going to decide who gets a cookie tomorrow.’
(but I would still also promise daddy bakes with them next weekend )

If scoffing children's cookies gives you the thrills, go for it, but it's rather dull.

You do if you do it properly
