Baked 23 cookies, dh ate 8 of them

I baked some cookies after dinner, like I do most weekends so the kids had some slightly less unhealthy snacks to go in their lunch boxes and to just have in the house. At the end of the night I went to put them in a container from the cooling rack and only 14 remained. I had one, so dh took 8 of them in the two hours since I cooked them! What kind of shitty self control is that.

I feel more pissed off that I took a little bit of time to do something nice (mainly for the kids, we're adults, we don't need bloody biscuits), and he's just gone for it with no respect for anyone else. Only apologised when I called him out for it. Ugh.

I get you OP, tell the greedy fucker to cook another batch for the week, it shows a massive disrespect for your time and effort. Tell him he can spend his time and brain power sorting an alternative for your children

ElsieandMavis · 18/05/2024 21:56

It’s your fault for having children with a man like that. Where is your self respect?

Perhaps his biscuit eating proclivities weren't apparent prior to parenthood
😉

Bulk biscuits

Ingredients
¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup sugar (brown or white)
1 egg yolk
1½ cup self-raising flour
½ teaspoon salt
²/³ cups rolled oats
²/³ cup optional flavours, such as: chocolate chips, finely chopped dried fruit, desiccated coconut or 3 tablespoons grated orange rind

Method

  1. Use a mixer to cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg yolk.
  2. Sift over the flour and salt then stir into the butter mixture. Add the oats and extra flavour ingredients then stir to combine. Roll into balls and chill in the fridge for at least 20 minutes. You can also freeze the
batter at this point.
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Roll the mixture into teaspoon-sized balls, place them on the baking tray and flatten slightly with a spoon.
  3. Bake until golden, about 10-12 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

I do think you have a bit of a point. I mean, I’m the world’s biggest sugar fiend and always eating biscuits, but the most I’ve ever eaten in one go is 4, and even then they were only custard cream size, so if they were large round cookies then I think that’s a bit greedy. There isn’t any need to eat 8 in 2 hours.

🤣

You’ve never necked a packet of Jaffa cakes in ten mins..?

Nope. I have more self control than that. I like a cookie or a biscuit but would never eat that many at once.

Do you also get full after eating a massive salad?

tiggergoesbounce · 18/05/2024 22:10

Only ate 8, that is showing restraint in our house. What's all this adults don't need biscuits!!! I most certainly do......

Give him a break, it just gives the kids the opportunity to bake some more.

We are baking tomorrow- I already know my DH will be straight on them, then me, then see if DS gets a look in 🤣🤣😂

Grazyna80 · 18/05/2024 22:10

Does he ever make cookies for you ? If yes, then it’s forgivable, otherwise , yeah, greedy ! He should have asked ! Certain times of the month I don’t bloody want to share my chocolate cookies. With no one.

Loubelle70 · 18/05/2024 22:10

Its been known for me to eat cookies ive baked.... A lot lol. I leave for others oc but he hasn't eaten them all...14 left..enough for lunch boxes

Only 8?
In 2 hours I could have snaffled many more. I admire his restraint TBH. Freshly baked biscuits mmmmmm.

The answer is don't bake such nice biscuits.

Or LTB.

I vote for making some stunt ones with something really bitter in for next time.

Nope, I’m not one of those famous MN competitive under eaters, trust me. I have decent size meals and a sweet tooth, but eight biscuits is a bit far for me, especially if they are similar to the subway type cookies in size.

Lovelydovey · 18/05/2024 21:59

Missing the point of the thread, but will you share the recipe please?

Yes please 🙏

And I would do a highly judgemental weight in tomorrow morning with all 3 kids present and posting the result on FB or What’s app for wider family.

I can't not read this in some mumbling, barely decipherable hip-hop drawl.

Shizzle my nizzle blud 🤣

That’s the only way to read it😂

SilentSilhouette · 18/05/2024 22:14

8 cookies?!?! He'll be farting all night!

Tell him to get his fat belly into the kitchen and make another batch as you no longer have enough for lunch boxes.

You’ve never necked a packet of Jaffa cakes in ten mins..?

If I had ten minutes I could do in two packets of Jaffa cakes and still have time for some Frazzles and a Capri Sun.

ilovesooty · 18/05/2024 22:18

All these cookie eating amateurs

Do none of you end up eating the mixture before it gets as far as the oven? 😀

My mum used to pick at food in my fridge... fingers yuk...and she never washed her hands if you get me. Anything open she would have some..id get up nxt morning and food would be gone. Cheese, dips, leftovers etc. so one day i bought hot lime pickle on purpose.. left it open in the fridge...she didnt pick so much after that...not dipping fingers in pots anyway 🤣.

Delicious sounding recipe.

Not even remotely healthy though.

lhlh · 18/05/2024 22:21

I'm sorry OP, I'd have happily eaten 8 of them. There were still 15 left and I am not sure that I understand the problem.

Our school won't allow coconut (I know it's a seed and have pointed it out!) I realise this isn't the point of this thread.

Seriously? They think it's a nut?
Confused
