Baked 23 cookies, dh ate 8 of them

I baked some cookies after dinner, like I do most weekends so the kids had some slightly less unhealthy snacks to go in their lunch boxes and to just have in the house. At the end of the night I went to put them in a container from the cooling rack and only 14 remained. I had one, so dh took 8 of them in the two hours since I cooked them! What kind of shitty self control is that.

I feel more pissed off that I took a little bit of time to do something nice (mainly for the kids, we're adults, we don't need bloody biscuits), and he's just gone for it with no respect for anyone else. Only apologised when I called him out for it. Ugh.

My mum used to pick at food in my fridge... fingers yuk...and she never washed her hands if you get me. Anything open she would have some..id get up nxt morning and food would be gone. Cheese, dips, leftovers etc. so one day i bought hot lime pickle on purpose.. left it open in the fridge...she didnt pick so much after that...not dipping fingers in pots anyway 🤣.

🤣

Hot lime pickle cookies it is OP.

RacketsAndRounders · 18/05/2024 22:23

Genuinely shocked yu didn't make a double batch. 12 cookies for 5 people is 😢

WhoStoleMySpoons · 18/05/2024 22:24

My dad used to do that to my mum way back in the 70s. Every time she baked a cake he'd cut himself a big slice while she wasn't watching.

Her solution was to make a bigger batch of cake mixture and split it between the proper cake tin for the family's cake and a small cake tin just for dad. Dad was always so delighted to see his own cake on the cooling rack!

ShamedBySiri · 18/05/2024 22:24

I find it hard to believe there haven't been previous signs of this cookie eating scoffing more than his fair share behaviour.
Why didn't you nip it in the bud?

Delicious sounding recipe.

Not even remotely healthy though.

Sure, not as healthy as an apple, but with the oats (protein) and reduced sugar and butter it's better than a packet of shop bought sweet biscuits. A balanced diet can include some sugar.

Anyway my main gripe was his greediness, and no he won't be replacing them. I'll just make sure to make fun of him for his poor self control. Seems the reasonable adult response.

Shizzle my nizzle blud 🤣🤣 @Isittimeformynapyet

For realz bruh. Realz!!

AstralSpace · 18/05/2024 22:26

I'd be annoyed if someone ate 8 of them.

Famfirst · 18/05/2024 22:27

And? 🤨

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 18/05/2024 22:27

Adults don't need biscuits? Not even a pistachio biscotti?

What do you dunk in your coffee then, celery?

YaMuvva · 18/05/2024 22:31

Team DH here.

You didn’t make all 23 for the kids surely? Food is made for eating. I don’t have a shameful relationship with food so I’d never see eating biscuits as ‘losing control’ and I’d be pissed off if someone claimed eating a few biscuits was ‘shitty self control’.

Coconut and chocolate with oats in. Pretty tasty.

Coconut and oats in a biscuit?
Do you not like your family or something?

Oh, another Greedy Husband post. Original.

Right?!

TellMeWhoTheVillainsAre · 18/05/2024 22:36

I think as the adults we deserve MORE treats than the children! Children don't need biscuits either btw.

You sound like his mammy giving out to him. There's still loads left. More than enough for 3 children.

You're an adult - you don't need any after all!

LuciferRising · 18/05/2024 22:37

I'm with you OP. A few, why not, but 8 is greed. I'd find it unattractive if it happened fairly often. Get him to bake more.

MonsteraMama · 18/05/2024 22:37

I'm sorry I'm hung up on the fact you made 23 cookies.

What sort of godless heathen doesn't make an even number?

While we're at it I'd also like to refute your claim that adults don't need biscuits.

brunettemic · 18/05/2024 21:56

Honestly, the things that people whine about on here. I don’t get how these people get through the average day.

True!

It's ridiculous. Mumsnet has gone rapidly downhill of late

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 18/05/2024 22:40

I'd have done the same tbh. If we bake buns or cookies or brownies, the first batch are usually gone before the second batch are even out of the oven!

Isittimeformynapyet · 18/05/2024 22:42

2Old2Tango · 18/05/2024 22:09

Nope. I have more self control than that. I like a cookie or a biscuit but would never eat that many at once.

I came on to offer you some sarky applause, but then the adult in me said "No Nappy! Control yourself!", so now I have nothing to say.

Feel a bit silly tbh.

I love that you bake two batches to account for the speed the first one is consumed, that's good planning.

OP I think you need a recipe you can make up and freeze in cookie sized portions and then put them in the oven/air fryer as needed.

Ineedaholidayyyy · 18/05/2024 22:44

Well eating 8 in one sitting is pretty greedy, but why can't he enjoy some of the baked goods too?

TheFunHasGone · 18/05/2024 22:49

Well yeah, I could eat half a pack of biscuits if I'm feeling like a greedy fucker but I wouldn't eat that many if someone had made them for the dc to have throughout the week

Cherrysoup · 18/05/2024 22:50

8 seems a lot, but teaspoon size dollops can’t turn out massive. I used to buy a packet of really nice cookies and me and my DH would demolish them with a cup of tea as an afternoon treat (no longer eat chocolate/sugar etc). He still inhales about 6 biscuits as a snack.

Tell him they’re for the kids next time, but allocate him some, he shout-out be banned from eating lovely cookies, although 8 seems loads!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 18/05/2024 22:50

Funny, Saturday night replies you’re getting here, OP.

Yes, it was greedy of him. He didn’t bake them, so he needed to ask first, not just take a ridiculous proportion of the total all for himself.

Why does he think he gets so many of something you’ve made?

ObliviousCoalmine · 18/05/2024 22:51
