Fiancée going to Ibiza minus her engagement ring

Amibeingcheated · 17/05/2024 14:18

My fiancée is going to Ibiza without me and plans to leave her engagement ring at home to keep it safe.
is this a reasonable thing to do?
AIBU ~ it’s fine she is just keeping it safe
IANBU ~ don’t trust her

Set the poor girl free - no woman deserves a lifetime of having her every move questioned because her other half is so insecure.

I am so surprised at the number of posters who would leave their engagement ring at home. I never take my rings off and tbh would probably worry about burglary whilst away as opposed to losing them on holiday.

Same. I always wear mine and don't take off

Ilovecleaning · 18/05/2024 18:51

Buy her a cheapish copy. Then see what she does 😊

Bernardo1 · 18/05/2024 18:54

I can see it would be sensible, ditto going without fiance if it's a shag festal

SammySays · 18/05/2024 19:15

I did exactly this went I went on a girls holiday to Ibiza and was engaged. I was so terrified of it flinging off in a club or losing it in the sea. There was no thought of leaving it home to cheat 😀

isthesolution · 18/05/2024 19:28

Yup I would do the same. I do have another cheap ring I wear instead.

strawberry2017 · 18/05/2024 19:33

My hands always swell on holidays so
I can't wear rings. I would leave mine at home knowing they were safer there then in some hotel

Delta41 · 18/05/2024 20:17
  1. If she’s planning to cheat (and intelligent) she’d just take it off when she got there, rather than tell you she’s leaving it at home.
  2. The majority of Drunk men wouldn’t think / care about a ring. For some it would be bragging rights….
  3. has she ever done anything to cause you to struggle with trust? Honestly? Or is it you over thinking and worrying.
PS. I’m a bloke. And my lack of trust with someone I loved, totally screwed things up. I learnt the hard way, so do your best to trust. Best and only thing you can do. Give her a big hug, tell her to have a great time. And tell her you’ll keep the ring safe!

Ahem, wedding and engagement rings would be the only pieces of jewellery I would never take off unless going for an operation and even then they'll tape them up for you. Going without it to Ibiza is advertising yourself.

TheBottomsOfMyTrousersAreRolled · 18/05/2024 23:05

Sensible to leave her ring at home. There are companies now specialising in cheap engagement rings for holidays. Even when going in holidays with my dh i would wear my wedding ring but leave my engagement ring at home.

if she planned to cheat, a bloke she met on a short holiday aint going to worry about her being engaged.

lol.

My ring is the most valuable and precious thing I own so I have left it at home before a holiday before. It’s not ‘advertising’ yourself - do you really think a ring is going to stop someone cheating or being hit on? She could just wear it on the other hand or take it off when she gets there.

Bumblebun · 19/05/2024 01:34

If my fiancé was to remove his ring before going on holiday to Ibiza - I would be suspicious.

If you think your husband might leave his ring at home, go to Ibiza and cheat, why aren’t you also concerned he could wear his ring to Ibiza, take it off and leave it in the hotel room and go out and cheat? He could even leave it on and cheat! A ring won’t stop someone cheating and if you truly believe your husband could cheat on you while in Ibiza surely you also have to believe he could take his ring off behind your back.

@Bumblebun What are views on people removing their jewellery when being admitted to hospital ? Because I always remove my jewellery when taken into hospital (frequent Flyer )?

ittakes2 · 19/05/2024 07:44

I had a travel ring - better to leave real bling at home.

Big difference here and you know that. One full of boozy horny people and one where you go to recuperate due to illness.

A more suitable comparison would be how many of you would be happy with your other half taking off rings at Butlins adult weekends?

AgnesX · 19/05/2024 08:43

Amibeingcheated · 17/05/2024 18:05

No. It’s a name change and was just an easy option.
I am really relaxed and just intrigued.

Doesn't sound like it. It does sound immature and neurotic.

Youcannotbeseriousreally · 19/05/2024 08:44

I went to Ibiza with my girlfriends a month before my wedding and I wore my engagement ring the entire time.

Why is it different when you know you're jewellery could be robbed off you including hospital . Including the dead .

fromtheshires · 19/05/2024 08:52

@bluetopazlove based on your logic you should never leave the house with them on then as you could get robbed the second you leave your house.....

bluetopazlove · 19/05/2024 08:55

When you're in hospital you are vulnerable , very vulnerable .

How is having to remove jewellery for medical purposes the same as willingly removing jewellery before going on holiday?

One is mandatory and one is an option.

Plenty of people holiday with their engagement rings.

feelingalittlehorse · 19/05/2024 10:00

Tbf, people gonna cheat if they want to, ring or not 🤷🏽‍♀️ A guy asked for my friend’s number in a bar the other day, and was wearing a bloody wedding ring 🙄🙄🤦‍♀️ absolutely no shame at all.

Side note- having been to Ibiza, would I take anything of value on a party holiday there? No.

If my husband went to a Butlins adult weekend I think I'd divorce him 😂
