My fiancée is going to Ibiza without me and plans to leave her engagement ring at home to keep it safe.
is this a reasonable thing to do?
AIBU ~ it’s fine she is just keeping it safe
IANBU ~ don’t trust her

We were once at a wedding on NYD. It wasn't expected to snow but in the evening there was a sudden magical flurry and we all went out throwing snowballs. All great craic until the bride said Wait, where's my ring ...
Her finger had shrunk a bit in the cold, i guess, and she'd flung the ring off. I understand they went back with metal detectors but IDK if they ever found that ring 😔

Don't worry too much about your fiancée going to Ibiza as it's changed a lot since I last enjoyed it 15 years and more ago.. now instead of dancing all night everyone just stands on the dance floor on their phones lol.. how boring.

100%
if a woman posted that her fiancé was leaving his engagement / wedding ring behind and off to a place like Ibiza there would be uproar of LTB, he’s cheating etc!

I know a couple of people who bought their fiance a fancy watch, to match the engagement ring they had. so the man had a watch, the woman the diamond ring. I think that's more common than male engagement rings - and if a woman made a massive fuss about the man not taking his watch on holiday it would be considered crackers. There's always people who have to chime in with "uh huh double standards in my made up scenario that didnt happen a man was criticised on here for the same thing". Sometimes there might be double standards but I really don't think there are in this case. Anyway the OP is happy so thats the main thing.

If she was going to cheat she could just as easily leave the ring in her hotel room. I think she’s keeping it safe. However, I think there are double standards here. If a woman posted and said her husband was going to Ibiza and wanted to leave his wedding ring at home for safe keeping, the reactions would be very different.
