I'm with you OP I can't vote labour. But I refuse to vote Tory after what they have done to our public services. I have a disabled child with no school place I want to work but can't due to my son so im now benefits scum reading regularly how lazy people like me are the problem. When I could work I worked in early years and what's happened to the sector under the tories is abominable.

I've considered spoiling my ballot rather than just not voting

That’s horrendous, i’m sorry. Are there no schools for your child at all?

I do like a lot of what Keir Starmer is saying, but his attitude on trans issues does really concern me. The way he's treated Rosie Duffield is shameful, IMO, and it makes me suspect he's just a misogynist who pays lip service to caring about women's rights, but is happy to throw women under the bus when he feels like it. Although I'm lucky enough that my local (Labour) MP is gender critical. But yes, it is certainly making me very wary about Starmer. Frankly, I just don't trust him- not great in our presumed future PM.

There’s a solid rumour that one of his children is trans. That would significantly influence his behaviour wrt women’s rights.

It is not the publics business to know about his child. But where he’s potentially the pm of this country, with power to implement policy that affects us all, one could say that such an influential factor is significant. Every one of does the best for our children. But everyone of us isn’t potential pm.

People keep saying this. Where's the evidence?

Oh wait, there isn't any. Just assumption and interpretation.

And the fact that Labour have stated openly, on many occasions, that this is what they plan to do.

They have back tracked slightly of late, but make no mistake, had they been in power over the last few years, it would already be done.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 16/05/2024 22:26

Greengablesfables · 16/05/2024 22:14

Starmer himself has actually said that the plans the Tories have put forth regarding disability payments "don't go far enough"
Make of that what you will. But they are NOT our saviours.

I know perfectly well how to hide a thread, thanks. I also am perfectly within my rights to join a thread to say that I think it’s total bollocks.

What are you including as “bollocks”?

Stopping puberty blockers, the Cass review, women speaking up?

Zonder · 16/05/2024 22:28

AdamRyan · 16/05/2024 21:00

What, like this you mean?

Confused

I don't know how anyone can watch this and still say they will vote Tory over labour for the sake of women.

It's not a solid rumour. It's based on him once stumbling and saying he has two sons instead of a son and daughter. Because nobody stumbles over details under the spotlight.

Oh please. You show me one person, even under pressure, who doesn't know the sex of their own kids that they live with and see every day.

Tootiredforallthiscrap · 16/05/2024 22:36

I wish some posters would bugger off back to their white middle class financially insulated ivory towers where obviously life under the tories has been amazeballs. No immigrants, no dodgy trans people, and happy for private schools to flourish without contributing anything whilst at the same time sending their own kids to state grammar schools. See the bigger picture they say, women’s rights will be destroyed under Labour whilst the Tories have been quite happy to shaft w/c women and girls for years. Couldn’t make it up.

It’s much more than that. But either way. No one forgets what sex their children are.

Hmm at this list, seems fabricated.

Do you think it’s been a mistake to speak up against things such as Self ID and puberty blockers?

Was the Cass review useful or not

Or should children still have access to PB etc

Working class, disabled, struggling like hell. Still not voting Labour. They can fuck off!

@AccidentallyWesAnderson there are certain posters on here who are all over anti immigration threads and ‘Labour doesn’t know what a woman is’ rants. Weird that.

@MistyGreenAndBlue well sorry if you’re voting tory and disabled and struggling like hell, I’ve no sympathy. Like who votes against their own interests when the whole issue for the most part is a Tory racket designed to create divert attention from their appalling record.

Just come out with it don’t be coy.

I think you’ve been there before haven’t you? It’s pretty much all in your head this stuff.

Don't be silly. Of course he knows. But you show me one person who never stumbles with words, never calls someone the wrong name, never gets the ages of their kids wrong. It's all the same part of the brain. Only yesterday I firmly announced that my daughter is doing A levels. She's not. Her brother is. That doesn't mean he is trans.

They don't forget. But they say the wrong thing. See my post above this one. Then tell me you've never said the wrong thing. I'm always calling my cat by my daughter's name.

I didn't ask for your sympathy. I also didn't say I was voting Tory (I'm not) but, having looked into it, I'm convinced that Labour won't make my life any better anyway. They seem just as anti-disabled as the Tories based on their own words. Your faith in them is misguided.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 16/05/2024 23:11

Just because you don't vote labour doesn't automatically mean you vote Tory.

Tootiredforallthiscrap · 16/05/2024 23:16

well there’s SNP or Lib Dems of Plaid Cymru but their stance on gender ID is worse than Labour’s. That leaves Reform.

Based on a typo in a daily mail article Confused

The mythical status of his child is irrelevant to Labour's position on trans issues. I find it deeply distasteful that it gets brought up as some kind of "gotcha" on these threads. Leave politician's children out of it.

Starmer is one of the worst politicians of the 21st century

He's a spineless wibbler.

It's not irrelevant at all or a 'gotcha'. He has a vested interest if his child is indeed trans.
