Not much point playing chess with a pigeon. That’s how it feels trying to discuss how I feel about women’s rights, with fanatical Labour supporters. Probably how RD feels every day.

🤷‍♀️

Victoria Smith is great isn't she.

Personally I feel Starmer is listening to women with his priorities and putting womens rights (like the right to justice and fair treatment) at the heart of what he's planning. So interested what "left wing bullshit" you were trying to call out? Or did you just want to let everyone know you are anti-Starmer?

Is this another one of those threads where the shills come in and bang on about how amazing the Conservative party are with regard to women?

Sigh.

Labour for me OP. I’m in a Tory area and live next to two of them - one who protected a known abuser, another pushed through planning on a conservation area. I’ll never vote the smarmy gits.

Keir is ignoring women and children you say?

So, women and children don't care about reducing NHS waiting lists, getting more teachers into schools, stabilising the economy ect?

news to me. You'll note that, by using his first name, I'm a Labour supporter.

No silly woman. You are only supposed to care about the tiny proportion of trans women daring to live their lives.

Certainly not the economy 😱. Women, know your place.

L1ttledrummergirl · 16/05/2024 21:37

Pmsl at the idea that tories (look around to see the devastating effect they have had on women and children- food banks anyone) are still better for women and children that Labour.

There are many many more harms done to us, rape has been practically legalised under this government, including putting rapists in female prisons and recording the crime as female, than one issue.

If you want more of this, vote Tory, but just perhaps, it's time to pull ourselves out of the gutter.

Blimey. Do you think Dr Cass wasted her time out of interest?

I know she got a load of abuse for the review, only gratitude here.

PurpleBugz · 16/05/2024 21:43

I'm with you OP I can't vote labour. But I refuse to vote Tory after what they have done to our public services. I have a disabled child with no school place I want to work but can't due to my son so im now benefits scum reading regularly how lazy people like me are the problem. When I could work I worked in early years and what's happened to the sector under the tories is abominable.

I've considered spoiling my ballot rather than just not voting

user1471453601 · 16/05/2024 21:43

@daliesque I was getting ready to give you a full throttle calling me a silly woman. Thankfully, I read all your post, and have you a thanks instead 😁

silverneedle · 16/05/2024 21:45

I am disabled. Another Tory govt terrifies me, more disability cuts.

skippy67 · 16/05/2024 21:46

This again?🙄

I thought it was due to inability to hide a thread. So many seem to click on it I wonder why

WisePearlTurtle · 16/05/2024 21:52

Starmer is one of the worst politicians of the 21st century

Churchview · 16/05/2024 21:53

What makes you say that @WisePearlTurtle ?

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 16/05/2024 21:55

I think the 'silly women' are the ones who can't appear to distinguish trans issues with the negative impact on women's rights to safe spaces and protections in sports.

Same here.

And God help anyone who has a child needing mental health services after the chronic underfunding by this government. I dread to think what it (plus all the other areas they've ruined) would be like if they got another term.

At least they'd pretend to know what a woman is (until they got voted it in of course). Let's just pretend the ones that are saying TWAW don't exist 🤫

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 16/05/2024 21:56

And also the inability to not open and post on topics that you are exasperated with. Bizarre.

Fluffyowl00 · 16/05/2024 21:56

I think it would grab more attention if you stopped repeating yourself and go for something more current. Can I suggest perhaps “AIBU to think that Kier Starmer doesn’t know what clean drinking water is?”

You're welcome 😌

Some have been posting against women and telling us how silly we are the whole way through

And yet list Cass and stopping puberty blockers as good things

They hindered more than helped on that score

I know perfectly well how to hide a thread, thanks. I also am perfectly within my rights to join a thread to say that I think it’s total bollocks.

I do like a lot of what Keir Starmer is saying, but his attitude on trans issues does really concern me. The way he's treated Rosie Duffield is shameful, IMO, and it makes me suspect he's just a misogynist who pays lip service to caring about women's rights, but is happy to throw women under the bus when he feels like it. Although I'm lucky enough that my local (Labour) MP is gender critical. But yes, it is certainly making me very wary about Starmer. Frankly, I just don't trust him- not great in our presumed future PM.

AmpleFatball · 16/05/2024 22:14

There’s beet little difference between the Tories and Labour on this issue, these days. And the Tories have been in power for well over a decade without doing anything to better clarify/protect single sex spaces.
