There’s never any answer to that, desperate constant asking. Of course it’s all about transgender people. They’re obsessed.

No, there's never any answer. Kemi has been mulling for some time though.

Whatever I thought of Theresa May in general she did some concrete work for the benefit of women. I can't see any evidence that any of the Tories afterwards have done anything much. Still if people want to overlook that failure and paint Starmer as a bogeyman that's what they'll do.

L1ttledrummergirl · 18/05/2024 19:56

Why all the spamming of crimes that have happened under the tories? Is it to show us that if we vote tory, this is what we get?

More of the same.

Greengablesfables · 18/05/2024 20:01

BIossomtoes · 18/05/2024 19:52

You’ve just posted umpteen links about transgender people. Own it.

No. I posted several links about predatory men pretending to be women. Read it. Comprehend it. Admit it.

So what has the current government done about these situations during the many years they've been in power?

It's not that we don't understand @Greengablesfables , it's the pinning of everything onto Labour. All of the UK incidents you've posted above have happened whilst Labour have been in opposition. It is not Labour causing the problem.

Other women do care deeply about women and children, their safety, opportunity and health. We care as much as you in different ways, sometimes in exactly the same way as you. A lot of us have faith in a lot of what we believe Keir Starmer's Labour will do for women in a wider sense and yet you never seem to hear that from us .

You are criticising other women when you deride people with left wing views.
Keeping the division, blaming one group of women, making us The Other isn't going to win the battle or our ears.

Is there another way?

Greengablesfables · 18/05/2024 20:32

@sooty

  • They’ve stopped gender self id
  • They’ve ensured that several countries' Gender Recognition Certificates (GRC) will no longer be recognised by the UK Government
  • they've stopped the teaching of ‘transgender’ (as in stopped teaching children that how you feel is what ‘gender’ you are. Biology means nothing) to young children
  • they’ve now introduced guidance for schools on the issue.

I’m not a Tory cheerleader. Just answering your question.

Noting that you (of course) haven’t admitted your misunderstanding (purposeful or not) regarding conflating predatory males with people with gender dysphoria.

‘Keeping the division, blaming one group of women, making us The Other isn't going to win the battle or our ears.’

I agree. The sht I (and others) have received from Labour posters you wouldn’t believe.

Is there another way? Another way to what? Even the ‘Women's Equality Party’ think men can be women.

OP posts:
ilovesooty · 18/05/2024 20:36

Have they "stopped the teaching of transgender"? That seems to be a simplistic view of the guidance. Not all people (or women) are happy with the guidance anyway.

As for your last statement, I'll treat it as it deserves by ignoring it.

Applescruffle · 18/05/2024 20:38

Tbh he could murder a puppy live on TV and I'd probably still vote for him.
Anything but more tories.

I mean, is there another way of communicating with us/Labour voters.

I see you feel you've received 'shit' but you've also thrown it in this thread. It's hard to reach a good outcome or share ground with someone who posts,

"Not much point playing chess with a pigeon. That’s how it feels trying to discuss how I feel about women’s rights, with fanatical Labour supporters."

Well I'm not a fanatical Labour supporter and neither are most of the people on Mumsnet who would like to gather together with other women to see how our opinions and voices can be heard. Why make an enemy of us? Why blame Keir Starmer or Labour as you do? The issue is bigger isn't it? Only the heft of women across the spectrum of political views is going to solve this problem which, as your links show, is worldwide, not just Labour, Tory or Keir Starmer.

People are irked by the blame/rage against Labour. Do you want that? Or do you want the anger directed at the problem?

I don’t think anyone vote switches so I’m not interested in voting intention but I do think there’s a disconnect between what has been achieved and is now appreciated and the derision shown on many of these threads

So I’d start with the basic premise that whatever politicians do is down to women who have spoken up and changed things. Some at great personal cost.

I’d prefer that to be acknowledged than most of the mocking / derision you see. I am grateful to each of those women. Especially when so many invest time attacking, threatening or undermining.

Their "guidance" took years and is confusing and unhelpful. Because it's a fudge to make it look like they care.

Gender self ID was their policy that they U turned on thanks to feminists challenging them relentlessly.

I find the recognition of GRC thing baffling and pointless, but yay Kemi did a thing,I guess.

I completely agree with you that we owe so much to the strong, clever women who have spoken up (now and through history) and made change happen. More of that PLEASE! I think women are FUCKING BRILLIANT, we can do anything, we deserve the best and should bloody fight for it.

Where there is derision or mocking is, I believe it is a product of the adversarial nature of these threads from the outset. Right out of the traps it's all arch and insults and twisting words. If we could overcome that then we would really make headway.

I risk a ban for this - but will try to express myself honestly - Some of the posts and threads are so adversarial, so 'shutting down of opposite views' so insulting and relentless that I feel they must be the product of posters who are AI or some political bot/paid person in a room. (Please don't ban me MN - I like it on here!)

If we stopped doing that, talked like we were in a room drinking tea with people whose help we need and who we wish to help - then we might get the best result. It would also be easier to spot the bots and report them.

Shoot me - I'm a hippy. Even worse I'm a lefty hippy.* *But I am a woman, a feminist and I want all women now and who come after me to have it better.

I don’t mind these threads. Obviously as I post on them not in a I’m uninterested and will post way but because this topic matters to me

A while back Mnhq would shift all threads and now some stay. I’m happy with that. Others won’t be but I’m more about seeing change than upset AIBU watchers. I don’t think anyone is AI or bot or whatever but it is used by some to attack unfortunately.

I’ll agree on a happy note, women are brilliant. I’m grateful. I want my dd to have less gender ideology around her as she grows up.
