I saw on the BAFTA’s the other night that she got some special award and I was genuinely wondering does anyone like her? I’ve never known anyone who does so I wanted to ask on here.
Personally I have no idea how she’s kept a job on tv for so long and can only assume that she’s got a lot of dirt on people. In her acceptance speech she thank her Mum for her work ethic which I thought was quite funny as she only does 4 hours a week if she feels like it. Not to mention the whole tax avoidance thing. Just curious

@Einwegflasche thank you for giving me your permission not to like someone. I’ll be starting a thread later on why Lulu gets on my tits if your interested x

@pootlin don’t worry. I am a bitch. It’s a fair comment

Did anyone see her on Still Game, where she interviewed Tam and Frances? Hilarious. Yes, there are Glasgow stereotypes in this - Glaswegians enjoy laughing at themselves.

@Churchview I'm seeing more of the 'cannot make a point so insult people' approach from some corners? Would you agree? 😂

Yep like your constant 'bitchy' and 'bitchfest' comments to shut down the conversation.

And then running away and saying 'Why are you addressing meeeeee?' act.

Well I’m going to leave this now but I’ve clearly been terribly unreasonable and all the Lorraine fans have made me come to my senses. I’m now off to get “I love Lorraine Kelly” tattooed on my forehead. Have a lovely day

Would you be fine if a thread like yours was started on here by an anonymous person slagging your dd, ds or your mum off?

And if people then told that person that this behaviour is not accepted online anymore, it is 2024 after all, that would make them fanatic fans who should get their forehead tattooed.

Is that actually how you read that?
I'm explaining WHY people reacted the way they did.

I am axtually not keen on Lulu's music, but she comes across as a funny, enthusiastic and thankful lady. Did you mention her because she's also, you know, originally from Scotland?

No, not like that at all.

Your comment, which must have been reported as MN deleted it, is gone.

Dita73 · 16/05/2024 10:36

@Einwegflasche I was joking! 😂

You have a real obsession with Scotland.

You're seeing discrimination that's just not there.

JK Rowling is a hero round these parts, which you'd know if you knew what TWAW meant.

Quite. Can't understand the benefit to the OP of focusing on negativity and unpleasantness.

Exactly and according to OP she's only succeeded as she's got 'dirt' on people, god forbid a woman is actually successful because they're good at their job.

She's on a commercial broadcaster, if her viewing figures weren't great she'd be out on her ear, so obviously lots of people do like her

Einwegflasche · 16/05/2024 10:38

curiositykilledthiscat · 16/05/2024 10:16

It an opinion. I never said it was fact, and yes I did follow Saint Lorraine’s legal case. Ethically, she’s on dodgy ground.

Nobody is calling her a saint.

Calm down, the comment about having dirt on people was clearly tongue in cheek.

LK did an excellent job on the Lockerbie documentary (in my opinion).

I haven't mentioned discrimination.

She didn't avoid tax, HMRC got it wrong. Same as they did with Kaye Adams. HMRC needs a big shake up.

HMRC didn’t get it wrong as such because it’s a grey area, but the judge ruled in her favour by saying she was a indeed a freelancer and this meant she didn’t have to pay tax as an employee. If she had been deemed an employee of ITV then she’d have had to pay a lot more in tax and NI and this is what HMRC were arguing. By saying that the Lorraine we see on tv is a ‘performer’ she got out of a big tax bill.

HMRC did get it wrong - the Judge confirmed that - also the whole question is about much more than just tax - the biggest tax savings accrue to the organisation engaging her in nay case.
