Lorraine Kelly

I saw on the BAFTA’s the other night that she got some special award and I was genuinely wondering does anyone like her? I’ve never known anyone who does so I wanted to ask on here.
Personally I have no idea how she’s kept a job on tv for so long and can only assume that she’s got a lot of dirt on people. In her acceptance speech she thank her Mum for her work ethic which I thought was quite funny as she only does 4 hours a week if she feels like it. Not to mention the whole tax avoidance thing. Just curious

I think she used to be quite popular but people are sceptical now about her ‘lovely’ och aye chatty persona. She’s probably got a bit more of a perceptible edge than she used to in – I don’t know the 90s – but then don’t we all ;)

Churchview · 16/05/2024 10:10

@Dita73 Was it a question (as you now say it was) or an opinion (as you said it was moments ago).

MercyDulb0ttle · 16/05/2024 10:10

She pissed me off sucking up to Eddie Izzard.

HauntedPencil · 16/05/2024 10:11

If it helps I'm sure Lorraine Kelly isn't crying into her coffee over this. I'm sure as a celebrity you understand some people will
Like you and some people not. I am failing to see what was so beyond the pale and awful abojt it.Ive never met anyone that likes her either yet, here you all are, so clearly she has a strong fandom out there.

Well the first post has both an opinion and a question, so I guess it's both!

@Einwegflasche bloody hell it was just a question! I’m not sitting here with a doll that looks like her and sticking pins in it!

It was a loaded question wuth inaccuracies.
People saw that.
I'm not trying to be horrible to you, just being honest about how it's coming across.

Starting a thread to slag someone off on a very busy forum is absolutely the 2024 equivalent of sitting there will a doll, sticking pins in it.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 16/05/2024 10:12

It annoys me when she is on The Last Leg as she ruins it.

She acts like a National Treasure, when she is anything but.

You're extremely sensitive, I've only addressed 2 posts to you. You've posted dozens of times as LK's one woman army defender, of course you're going to get responses.

Sure.
Moving on.

She’s a tax avoiding bad actress. How anyone fell for her act is beyond me.

Not factual information.

It really isn't the equivalent of sticking pins in dolls. This is a chat forum how many threads are there about celebrities.

'Lovely och aye' personality?

It an opinion. I never said it was fact, and yes I did follow Saint Lorraine’s legal case. Ethically, she’s on dodgy ground.

@Churchview I'm seeing more of the 'cannot make a point so insult people' approach from some corners? Would you agree? 😂

'Och aye'?
You don't see how that's inappropriate?

Many of us 🙄each time we see women dragging successful women down for no good reason.

That's not the same as discussing factual happenings.

Dita73 · 16/05/2024 10:21

Well I’m going to leave this now but I’ve clearly been terribly unreasonable and all the Lorraine fans have made me come to my senses. I’m now off to get “I love Lorraine Kelly” tattooed on my forehead. Have a lovely day

OP posts:
Whowhatwherewhenwhy1 · 16/05/2024 10:22

She does a lot more than 4 hours. There is so much prep and meetings behind the scenes and why should she not work part-time if she can afford to. And perhaps she has kept her job because she is good at it! Anyone that has met her including myself will tell you she is genuine, funny and down to earth and shows genuine empathy and puts people at their ease.
There’s nothing like women tearing down other women. Perhaps focus on improving your own life and career instead of being jealous and nasty about others who you know little about.

Mnetcurious · 16/05/2024 10:24

She comes across as very fake to me. Every guest she has it’s an overenthusiastic “so so lovely to see you”. I only watch on Fridays as it’s my day off and I like the fashion segment! Seems like she no longer does Fridays and I’m not sad about that. Also I hate it when extremely wealthy people deliberately avoid paying tax (especially when like her they then lament on tv about issues due to a lack of public funding, eg nhs waiting lists).

You have a nice day @Dita73.
Your thread didn't turn out as expected, we've tried to explain why we commented the way we did - in short there is nothing wrong with not liking someone, as long as it's for genuine and factual reasons!

Come on now, of course she's not gonna be hugely enthusiastic about every guest she interviews. So she has to act! Whether she's good at it I have no idea, but it's definitely a big part of the job description to be 'fake' to some extent at least.
