Wwyd. Came out with an invitation weeks ago and he said he wanted to. Announced now he doesn't know the child very well and he doesn't want to go. Turns out none of his close friends are going either. Feel rude not going but feel I can't force him?

That's why people usually only invite numbers they can accomodate in their house. Rather than hiring out an entire hall. Who does that? I mean, I can understand if it's a major birthday like 13th, or 18th or 21st. Something like that.

Lots of people?

It's not necessarily super expensive, the village hall near my parents is only about £50-60 for a 3 hour party.

Lots of areas of London have a lot of small tenants and residents association type halls for hire, so even in an otherwise expensive city, it isn't that expensive

It's about a tenner an hour to hire our village hall and lots easier to run a party there than to have a bunch of small children running amok in your own house!* *

I'm thinking @SoreAndTired1 doesn't live in the UK, which might explain why she thinks hiring a village hall for a party is so crazy. Or doesn't actually have kids old enough to be invited to/have parties.
