The way customers are buying paddling pools, BBQs, beers etc - they think it’s going to be this weather for 2 months. Could be thunderstorms for some tomorrow. Plus rain and mid teensC next ten days (Midlands)

We’ve bought a new bbq and a new paddling pool because we only realised once the warm weather started that both desperately needed replacing after years of use. Why wouldn’t I buy them now? Why would you assume I think the weather will be like this for two months? It’s not a panic buy - it’s literally just a case of ‘oh the weather is warm, let’s have a bbq, oh shit we need a new one’. It will last us years.

I don’t see how it differs to buying a new winter coat in autumn?

we bought a fan the minute it got hot last year and we have got it out again this year. It goes in a cupboard when it’s cold- hardly unusual is it?

It's lovely in the sun why wouldn't people enjoy it. I've got a Uber on its way with everything for a garden afternoon. I'll top the paddling pool DH is looking at JCBs to dig a pool like he does every year but I have a feeling I will come home to it in the near future!

Sounds like you really loathe people buying summer things and wanting to enjoy themselves. We know the weather will change, which is why we're doing stuff to enjoy it, while it lasts.

Being in the sunshine for a lot of people makes them feel happy. It feels like it's been a long miserable winter and I for one am very happy to see warmer days are coming. Yes I know it's England and it probably won't last but I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

Burgers, beer and charcoal all bought today ready for a little bbq dinner tonight. I've been planting marigolds in my back garden today to cheer it up too.

OP, surprised you didn't add that people having BBQs are selfish, as they aren't thinking about climate change and are ruining the environment.

I'm from a country with reliably nice summer weather - I never even noticed it when living there. I love how people get so excited when the sun's out in the UK. At least we notice it and appreciate it.

I've been using the same fan for years 🤷🏻‍♀️ Why would I throw it away? I'm sure a lot of people do the same with paddling pools. June, July and August might be gorgeous yet (wishful thinking) So they can even get them out again.

It's officially summer, I made Pimms and bought ice cream. 🍦🍹😁
