To think you can't put a toilet outside someone's bedroom?

House on the left is having work done.

House on the right has no involvement in the work.

AIBU to think you can't just put a random portaloo above someone's front door and outside their bedroom window?

next door have a portaloo in their front garden, the rental company come and "vacuum" it out every day about 7:30 so no smell but how would they get up to that level of your one to empty/clean it?

They have a flexible tube to suck it all out.
grimm

I'm finding it really hard to believe that there are posters who wouldn't mind having a portaloo on scaffolding right outside their bedroom window. This is surely Mumsnet at its most batshit.

I cannot believe there isn't a working toilet in the property that is being worked on. I think it's totally unacceptable, especially without even asking, and if it was me I wouldn't rest until it was taken down, and I would be hounding my local councillor , MP, local paper until it was gone.

People have different opinions, shock. Kinda the point of discussion boards, y'know.

Any news OP?

That portaloo is parked on some scaffolding inside my head!

SapphosRock · 23/05/2024 10:26

@Allshallbewell2021 update incoming!

Apparently it has been taken away 🎉

I am not there atm. I will check it out later today and send a pic.

Of course. Still astonishing that people can be so completely wrong though.

Thanks Sappho! That's a relief - it was bothering me, the sheer brass neck of them!

We can all sleep at night now, particularly those in the house on the right.

It's not wrong to merely have a different opinion about something.

HTH.

Great update @SapphosRock

I still can’t believe they anyone ever thought the toilet there was acceptable.

eurochick · 23/05/2024 22:54

A happy ending!

Mummyoflittledragon · 24/05/2024 00:25

Fantastic news. Why they thought it was acceptable in the first place is beyond me.
