There's a CF parked in my drive

Village fete day. Parking's a nightmare. Come back from my food shop to find some CF has parked on my drive. So I parked across my drive (dropped kerb but no double yellows or white driveway signs) to put my shopping away. Nearest proper parking is going to be a 5-10 min walk away I reckon - it's heaving! No specific AIBU but I know you lot love a parking drama.
Can I leave my car infront of the driveway and head out to the fete? It would block the car in ... but there's no note, no blue badge etc ... can I get a parking fine?
My DH thinks we should park properly and walk back in but tbh im enraged someone parked on my drive!!!

Oh, OP! Shes still an absolute CFer of the highest order. You are a hero! Keep drinking the warm wine x

LifeIsJustOneBigWTAF · 05/05/2024 20:19

She was seething? Cheeky cow! The entitlement and brass neck of some people really does know no bounds.

treadingonlego · 05/05/2024 20:22

Ironically we have the ring cameras too - so even if we were away we would have seen them (if we'd bothered to look at the cameras)

Surely looking at the footage should have been the first thing you did?!

OutOfTheHouse · 05/05/2024 20:23

As an aside I’m getting loads of notifications now from the old ‘penguin bollards’ thread. (I’m on it under an old username).

Is it just me or has this thread already been covered? I remember reading a thread just like this

Yes same. Even down to going to a fete.
I had to check the date as I was sure it was a zombie thread.

ohmydays37 · 05/05/2024 20:34

@Connected1 oops spell check - RTWT even 😂 too many lemonades!

fungipie · 05/05/2024 20:39

But OP told her she was going to go away that day. So she should still have asked in advance, but as could not find parking, perhaps fair enough to think 'oh, friend said she would not be here on that day'.

AMinutesPeace · 05/05/2024 20:40

This thread has been a bad influence on me. Instead of doing everything else I should be doing as a responsible parent on a Sunday evening, I'm off to watch a very old series one episode of Midsomer Murders with another glass of wine.

stichguru · 05/05/2024 20:42

From a moral and justice standpoint block them in and go out for as long as you want. Be aware though, I'm about 99% sure that they would have legally parked on a drive, and you would be illegally parked over a drop kerb, so if the police or traffic warden came round, you might be fined while they were not. I guess if you could prove they were not a friend, they could be done for trespass, but that would require you taking them to court.

in that case, you text and ask. If you don't have their number, at very least you leave a message on your car with your number.

It was!!! I didn't recognise them - it didn't cross my mind it would be someone known to me!

I’ll be annoyed with you if you don’t leave your car there 😂

I love this reply

vickylou78 · 05/05/2024 21:00

Id be a bit miffed too Op. Even if it's someone you know, surely it's common courtesy to ask permission to use someone's driveway. They have no idea if you'd actually gone away or if you have work men coming etc. they were rude. Glad you made them wait a bit!

Agreed.

nadine90 · 05/05/2024 21:08

I read your op earlier this afternoon and saved it hoping for a good read this evening. Slightly disappointed it wasn’t more dramatic 😂
But op, please don’t be worrying about what she might say at school. She was bang out of order! Even if it happened as you described, a quick text to ask if it was ok before merrily plonking her car on your drive should have been the bare minimum. And without your explicit go ahead, she should have driven round like everyone else looking for a suitable spot. Any school parents who hear the story will be inwardly eye rolling and marking her down as a CF xxx

Mrdannycat · 05/05/2024 21:10

LakieLady · 05/05/2024 20:11

That's because CFs are everywhere and they don't give a shit where they park!

I'm shocked your Cheeky Parking Fucker wasn't more apologetic, OP. Some people have no shame.

And there are CFs who think they can park in your parking spaces too. It drives me crazy.

Salome61 · 05/05/2024 21:24

Glad all sorted!

Reminds me of a local woman - she was on line dating and met someone in town with a drive at the front of his house. Date didn't work out but she knew he was away the following week, arranged a date with someone new, and parked on first date's drive.

Woah, that is next level cf behaviour.

Have just realised that I've eaten a whole packet of jaffa cakes whilst waiting for OP to update this thread . . . . can anyone provide me with a plausible excuse to give to my Slimming World Consultant?🤔

Some CF parked on the drive of someone you don't know, in a place not identified, so clearly you are feeling very involved and have obviously had to cancel your plans for a healthy evening,.instead needing Jaffa's to keep your energy up while continuously refreshing Mumsnet. Not your fault!

Absolutely!!

fashionqueen0123 · 05/05/2024 21:48

Wow turned out she was a Cf after all then! Who does that!

DinaofCloud9 · 05/05/2024 20:26

Thank you! I thought the village fete rang a bell.

Not even in front of your drive but ON your drive. That is outrageous. I’m fuming for you. Wankers.
