To be beyond sick of this foul weather!?

Just this! Will we actually ever get some decent weather, I swear it has been raining since last July. I don't think my mental health will take much more. Luckily I have a couple of summer holidays planned somewhere hot, but even still. Bleugh.

Sunny with a few clouds here (UK, south east). Bit chilly but supposed to be much warmer for the rest of the week. Was raining yesterday but was nice the day before.

All in all doesn't seem too far off for the time of year, although as a country we've had a very wet spring.

LightSpeeds · 29/04/2024 11:11

We've had a few nice days here (and, although the air temperature was lowish, it felt hot in the sun).

But, yeah, it's grey, cold and miserable here again today and I feel grim inside 😂

On the bright side, at least we're headed into summer and not out of it so there should be something good to look forward to... eventually.

YANBU but this is Mumsnet so prepare for the influx of posts telling you that...

  • It's not raining where we live, where do you live that it's always raining?
  • No such thing as bad weather only bad clothing
  • We just love puddle jumping then getting cosy with a hot chocolate

Tell me about it. I find those posts so stupid.

I am pretty sure West Country is heading for the bottom of the Atlantic. It hasn't stopped raining since October.

35965a · 29/04/2024 11:15

I swear it has rained most days since last July. I am sick of it being cloudy. While I am no sun-worshipper, I would like a little bit of sunshine!

Ha, this 🙈

It's grim though isn't it, my house is 14⁰C, it's peeing it down again. I'm so behind germinating seeds.
Yesterday was beautiful, first gorgeous day in ages - it actually makes it worse that today is wet and freezing again.
Yes, I have all the wet weather gear, but with rain we always have wind here and it's just miserable. Hoping summer isn't a washout as I'm getting desperate.

Tessisme · 29/04/2024 11:17

There have been a few of these threads. Not judging though, because I'm on every single one having a good old moan😆 Today, a few miles from Belfast, we have grey skies, pouring rain and a cold wind that would cut you clean in two. We had a couple of days of sporadic sunshine (still cold though) but normal service is now resumed. Utterly fed up.

Crunchymum · 29/04/2024 11:18

Warm(er) and bright here today but then set to rain again for the next week.

At least it may be warm enough to not need the heating on, I've had it on most days since late October!

Andtheworldwentwhite · 29/04/2024 11:21

So sick of it. I need to get in my garden and it just keeps raining. 🌧️ I’m done with this. I think having a bad summer last year has made it seem even longer. I’m going to complain. But I don’t know who to complain to 😂

TiredCatLady · 29/04/2024 11:25

Hard agree. It feels like it’s done nothing but rain since last October. Yesterday it was 7 degrees and threw it down pretty much all day. It’s just about made it over 10 degrees today.

Its miserable.

MsLuxLisbon · 29/04/2024 11:36

I'm sorry everyone else is suffering as well, but I'm glad that so far I've had none of the 'no bad weather only bad clothes' brigade. They were out in force on yesterday's thread about running and it is so boring.

OP posts:
Pickingmyselfup · 29/04/2024 11:39

It's awful and I am fed up of it. It's all very well saying there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing but where is the joy is forever being togged up in waterproofs?

I want to sit on my new garden sofa with a drink next to my new chimnea and enjoy the dry warner evenings.

I want to go for a run off road that I can actually run without stopping to trudge delicately through mud. I can't run through it for fear of falling over, I don't particularly want to get my feet wet and I can't wear wellies to run.

I'm just over it especially when Iooked the forecast and it's raining all day Wednesday Thursday and Friday.

I go running in the rain, I will walk in the rain and the cold but every day with no break is really not enjoyable. I want to feel the warmth!!!

PoppyFleur · 29/04/2024 11:40

I’m with you, I am so fed up of rain, drizzle, grey skies and jumpers. We have had so much rain and flooding in the area, I dread to think of the impact on farmers.

I want to be optimistic and book outdoor activities for summer but who wants to do outdoor cinema wrapped up like the Michelin man.

I normally think ‘no such thing as bad weather’ and throw on the wet weather gear but I’m done, I want some consistent good weather. Who do we complain to?!? 😂

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 29/04/2024 11:44

It's making me really miserable now. I do get outdoors every day and rock the waterproof trousers and anorak look, and quite enjoy wild weather in the late autumn and early winter, but enough is enough now!! There's FA we can do about it and I'm despairing.

Tcateh · 29/04/2024 11:45

Yes it's really getting me down now, and others I've spoken to.

Devon is definitely wet.

Mischance · 29/04/2024 11:47

It's the bloody wind that is getting to me - it never seems to stop. Beautiful spring flowers that have come into bloom have lost their blossom in 24 hours. I can't do anything in the garden without getting blown over. I have had quite enough of it thank you.

GerminateMyParsnips · 29/04/2024 11:48

I...

a) hate hot weather
b) own just about every type of waterproof walking gear possible
c) will walk the dog in all weathers

...and even I am bloody sick of the constant chilly rain! If the weather has managed to piss me off, then it really has been bad for a very long time Grin

blobby10 · 29/04/2024 11:58

I adopted a dog just before Christmas and am also very very fed up with the rain and wind and general gloomy days in the East Midlands! I want to walk the dog in shorts and trainers not wellies and jeans and waterproofs. And WHY is it SO windy these days? Am i really just getting old and noticing it more?

ThePoshUns · 29/04/2024 12:09

I agree OP.
I find winters a slog most years but this has been the worst ever.
I'm an outdoor person and am sick of the rain , the cold I can just about tolerate.
I do have wet weather gear but it's not pleasant walking in the rain.
I long to feel the sun on my face.

Twilightstarbright · 29/04/2024 12:11

All this nonsense about only bad clothing- I coach a kids football team and our matches are frequently cancelled due to waterlogged pitches. Nothing to do with clothing but still leaves very sad kids and a frustrated coach!

Comedycook · 29/04/2024 12:18

Nothing I hate more than grey skies. Makes me feel quite depressed. My mood is really affected the weather. My biggest dream is so emigrate somewhere warm and sunny.

Fizbosshoes · 29/04/2024 12:45

Today looks quite nice (but it's still chilly) but the weekend was dull, rainy and cold.
Yesterday there was a matrix on the road saying gritter lorries were on standby - its nearly May!! And we're not in a high remote rural area where you might expect cooler weather we're about 30 miles from London!
