To be beyond sick of this foul weather!?

Just this! Will we actually ever get some decent weather, I swear it has been raining since last July. I don't think my mental health will take much more. Luckily I have a couple of summer holidays planned somewhere hot, but even still. Bleugh.

It was hail stoning here yesterday. Northen Scotland 😔 chucking it down today and cold

Helloworld56 · 15/06/2024 12:50

Sick of it now. Mid June and nothing is growing as it should on my allotment, or in the garden.
Today is grey and raining again, with thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon.
Where is the sun?

Fergie51 · 15/06/2024 12:58

Being a Scot now living in England, I do sympathise with you all being fed up with the wind and rain. It doesn’t bother me at all as this is quite typical of Scottish weather. Moving here I was stunned with the beautiful hanging baskets and gardens where the plants seemed to flourish and women were wearing summer dresses. I never owned a summer dress until our arrival in England.

xtinabale55 · 01/07/2024 18:04

We're in the midlands, it's been horrendous!!! It's rained and been cloudy and cold since August finished last yr! 10 mths ago!!!! It's not the norm at all, never known it be this bad to my memory, it's seriously l depressing me now just seeing this dismal crap weather esp when you can see weather abroad is so much better! I am seriously contemplating a move to Australia I'm sick of it.

mum2jakie · 01/07/2024 21:17

Midlands here too. We had one week of warm weather last week. This week is back to cold, wet and grey weather that wouldn't look amiss in October!

xtinabale55 · 01/07/2024 21:23

@mum2jakie it's driving me mad, I can't stand it, it does my head in. It's very odd also, I've never seen it like this ever! It's July and only 15c but oddly in the sun it's red hot! Also noticed strangely it's cloud all day but first thing and last thing it clears and the skies are blue! It's just so strange as never seen it this bad before. In expecting a rough winter tbh if it's like this now.

ThePoshUns · 01/07/2024 21:25

We had about 2-3 sunny days last week in south wales. Back to grey skies here and barely reaching 15 degrees. Rubbish.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 04/07/2024 14:54

Well it's sunny here today so I decided to try and put up the pool I bought for last year but didn't bother because of the rain.
so it's blowing a gale instead so everything keeps blowing away from me making it impossible to put up the pool. I've been prepping for it for ages (Dh overcomplicates what is needed to do anything by about 1000% so any simple job that would take anyone else 2 hrs takes 5 times longer because he insists on building in about 5 extra steps. So the deck needed pressure washing.. he needed to get a pressure washer.. then it needed oiling but he was working solidly for 2 weeks so I had to wait... then it rained... then he insisted we needed new matting to go on top of the matting we already have.. then I was at work..
so a month after I started preparing to get the fucking thing up the one day it's sunny and he's out and can't interfere.... 💨 💨 💨

I guess I should be glad I don't live somewhere where it's 40 degrees and on fire. But today I'm not

ThePoshUns · 05/07/2024 07:16

Going to an outdoor concert this evening.
Will be raining as per usual, packing a poncho and wearing boots.
Oh to be in shorts and flip flops.

RisingSunn · 06/07/2024 13:50

I am soaked. That is all.

xtinabale55 · 06/07/2024 16:59

It's crap utter complete crap!!! It's been blowing a gale here again in the midlands, barely reaching 13c and chucked it down all day!

Andtheworldwentwhite · 06/07/2024 17:16

I have booked a ten day holiday in the sun. I work in a really cold environment all winter. And the spring and summer are my life line. And now this. So I have booked a holiday where the normal temperature in August is about 29. I need some sun to make winter more bareable.

Fizbosshoes · 06/07/2024 17:22

This thread is several months old, we are now meant to be in mid summer and the weather is still awful!! (We had a week of decent weather at the end of June)

Today it's been between 9 and 12°c and intermittently pelting it down since before 7am this morning. We're at a mainly outdoor event and DD has been wearing a sweatshirt and padded winter coat, ive come home to put more clothes on

Even for a UK summer, this is dire!

Theunamedcat · 06/07/2024 17:22

It's pissed it down significantly today again the only thing growing is the slug population they killed all my veg and sunflowers some cunt keeps putting something on my wiperblades so they smear when I wash my windows (they are new I started my car this morning and they smeared and my side window was messed with) I'm wet cold and pissed off

I don't even like summer but I really want it to happen now

DuesToTheDirt · 06/07/2024 17:32

I have been really grumpy at everything and everyone the last couple of weeks. Some of it is with good reason, but I'm sure the foul weather and lack of sun has been affecting my mood.

Darkflame · 07/07/2024 08:35

Woken up to yet more bloody rain. Laying in bed hearing it. The husband and son have taken the dog out so will have been caught out in it.

I know it's meant to rain more up north but honestly this is taking the piss. It seems way more than normal. The temperature has been stuck at 13-15° and a constant cold wind for months now. I've not bothered putting any winter clothing away as there doesn't seem to be the point.
We booked a holiday in a camping pod with HEATING for August.
I'm craving some sun as this weather is seriously getting me down. Been looking back on FB memories and in the pics it's glorious Sunshine.
Also when it's hotter, most colds and bugs disappear but they still seem rife and I've caught yet another cold.
I just don't understand wtf is going on 😡

BitOutOfPractice · 07/07/2024 08:42

Cricket match on Friday I was really looking forward to, rained off. Festival in the park, a sodden quagmire, bbq party yesterday, actually dry but blowing a gale. Sick of it now.

RisingSunn · 07/07/2024 08:56

Today’s forecast. Have you ever seen so much variation in one day?? 😣

To be beyond sick of this foul weather!?
DuesToTheDirt · 07/07/2024 11:16

@RisingSunn I can beat that, temperature wise at least. Last week one lunchtime it was 23C in our garden, so I went to sit out, but it wasn't warm enough! There was no sun and a cold wind, so I came indoors again. Less than an hour later it was raining and the temperature had dropped to 14C. Crazy weather.

Fizbosshoes · 07/07/2024 12:14

It's pants for outdoor stuff, barely dry for long enough to dry washing. Yesterday had to buy more waterproofs because the ones I'd worn to get soaked in the morning hadn't dried out enough to wear again (to get soaked) in the afternoon! 🙄

But I feel bad for people who's livelihoods depend on people going outside, fairs and festivals that are months in the planning etc. Of course most still go ahead but I imagine people spend less time and thus less money when the weather is bad. (Umbrella manufacturers are probably doing ok)

And often you get people piping up that of course we should expect rain, we're in the UK etc but farmers and scientists will surely know this is not usual weather. Single figure day time temperatures in June and July, and the amount of rain we've had this year, are really not standard regardless of how the "put your waterproofs on and get on with it" gang try to frame it!

How are you supposed to dress appropriately for weather like that? Raincoat and flip-flops perhaps? 😂

CobaltQueen · 07/07/2024 13:27

I hate UK summers but this constant pissing rain and darkness is getting me down big time. I remember it was the same last year and then that horrible heatwave in September. Hopefully that won't happen again.
If it were bright with low 20's weather then that's enough for me.
