To be beyond sick of this foul weather!?

Just this! Will we actually ever get some decent weather, I swear it has been raining since last July. I don't think my mental health will take much more. Luckily I have a couple of summer holidays planned somewhere hot, but even still. Bleugh.

I wish people would stop conflating ‘mental health’ with ‘day to day mood’.

Who's conflating anything with anything? When I say that it is affecting my mental health, that is exactly what I mean. Thank you.

I woke up on 21 April and it was so cold I thought I’d book 25th April to 30 April to Majorca or northern Spain. Nice short flight for just a few days. Then I looked at their weather forecast, rain there too doh! Didn’t bother with the flights

daffodilandtulip · 29/04/2024 21:10

I brought two new fleeces in the (real) winter and I was so excited with them.

I'm sick of the bloody sight of them and ready to burn them now.

It's almost May. I want to wear nice dresses.

AllTheMiniEggs · 29/04/2024 21:12

It's horrendous. I'm not usually one to moan about the weather but I've seriously had enough of this now.

I read somewhere that cereals, bread and something else I can't remember are going to get more expensive because all the crops have failed due to the rain.

I've got a week off work next week and the weather is set to be utter crap.

Tessisme · 30/04/2024 07:35

Well, your day to day mood is part of your mental health surely? There's an argument for not conflating day to day changes in mood with clinical depression, but that's not what the OP said.

Weather wise, today is more of the same here. Rain, wind, pretty cold. The relentlessness of it is, well, affecting my mental health.

WishIMite · 01/05/2024 12:10

Yes, I quite agree: my day-to-day mood is literally the sum total of my mental health. And this grey grey GREYness is really making me feel down all the time. I've usually got loads of plants in the garden by now, but every day it's too wet to do anything. I've only had two possible gardening days this year! It's awful.

ThePoshUns · 01/05/2024 19:35

I worked from home today, sat wearing a woolly polo neck jumper and a scarf around me as was so cold.
I just popped out ( in the pouring rain) to Sainsbury's, they've got some really nice summer clothes in there but there's no point in buying them.
DH and I are seriously considering selling up in a few years time and going to live in Spain. I can't bear this weather forever.

Firebird83 · 01/05/2024 19:48

I have seasonal affective disorder which usually starts to improve in spring. It hasn’t this year ☹️

Inafarawayland · 01/05/2024 19:54

Have a trip to North East booked for the long weekend. Have been look forward to it thinking by May surely there would be some sun. Just checked the forecast and just rain. My fault as never bet on the weather but just so fed up of it now.

Honestly, same. I'm very seriously considering a move to Bordeaux. I have family there and I can't take much more of this nonsensical weather.

I'm utterly utterly sick of it.

It brightened up the other morning a few days ago.

I thought "fucking hell it's finally alright for that bike ride" so I got out on my bike on a route I've been dying to do for MONTHS. Was out for about 30 mins when the dark grey clouds started looming. I turned back worried about rain. ...

It didn't rain. It fucking hailed like a bomb raid.

I thought my hands were going to drop off from the icy attack. My nose, ears, fingers in fucking agony.
I actually cried. I can't take this anymore.

Haven't they had an absolute shitter of a winter and spring as well there?

It hasn't been great but they will have a decent summer and it is far warmer there than here.

OP posts:
LordPercyPercy · 01/05/2024 21:34

That's true, they'll have decent summer temperatures at least, something we are not guaranteed here.

MiserableMarch · 01/05/2024 22:20

It's been so hard.
I've been so bored this winter and hemmed in by endless flooding.
You need money to throw at things like this fly out of it, go out for cosy pub meals and so on.

It's been awful

MiserableMarch · 01/05/2024 22:20

I've not been able to get into the garden at all, we've got some new furniture and it's unpacked.

ThePoshUns · 01/05/2024 23:00

Massive hail storm in Paris this evening, wtf?!

Edited

Same here (Midlands.) 4 days nice in a row. (A few hours here and there overcast,) but 85% nice, and sunny. And warm 19-22 C.

BRING IT ON!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 02/05/2024 05:25

We had a decent day yesterday but unfortunately we are now paying for it with hours of thunder, lightning and torrential rain.

SOxon · 02/05/2024 05:54

rain and thunderstorm east of Oxford. I’m up making Ovaltine - contemplating hot buttered toast 🤔it isn’t cold here but damp, dreary, grey, depressing

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 02/05/2024 06:09

Ok I am going to try and cheer you all up. I'm on the other side of the world and our seasons change pretty quickly when the rain starts (it hadn't rained here since October, driest spell since records began apparently). Anyway my mum has noticed over the years that when I complain about weather cooling here, within a couple of days the weather turns for the better in the UK. So we had the first rain of the season yesterday, which means things should be looking up very soon at your end!

malificent7 · 02/05/2024 06:26

I think it is climate change. Instead of burning up like Greece, the UK is going to flood like a squelchy puddle. Sorry....this weather isn't helping my dark moods nowadays!
