Liquorice is the food of the devil and it's slowly dying out as people come to their senses with regards to this disgusting black substance, which has clearly been pulled straight from Satan's bumhole

YABU - I am a weirdo who likes liquorice
YANBU - I am a normal person who agrees that whoever invented this stuff belongs in prison

Sadly , Liquorice Allsorts aren't vegetarian (gelatin) so I'm now thinking about them. No clue how long ago I had these , must be over 44 years .

I thought it was just the blue and pink bobbly ones that contain gelatine. But aren't even liquorice, so they are automatically the worst in the box.

Itsharoldbishopagain · 27/04/2024 14:49

I am not a fan of it but the kids in my son’s school love it. They frequently have a Sweet Stall and they’ve realised the more liquorice they stock - the more sweets they sell!

So YABU

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 27/04/2024 14:53

I'm 37 and love it. None of my teenage dc will touch it though

AstonUniversityPotholeDepartment · 27/04/2024 14:56

YABU, I love it. Particularly raspberry flavour

Havanananana · 27/04/2024 15:43

I thought it was just the blue and pink bobbly ones that contain gelatine.

These are called "Spogs" and can be bought in big jars separately from the rest of the Allsorts mix

Oblomov24 · 27/04/2024 16:06

I've always liked it. I have some in my desk at work.

longtompot · 27/04/2024 16:34

I voted yanbu as I am over don't like it, but my dh is also over 50 and does, and two of our kids who are 24 & 25 both really like it

somethingisnotquiteright · 27/04/2024 17:04

Not only do I like licorice, I even like the salty licorice the Dutch have.

Oo Lakrids is amazing, love all the flavours!

They are a very occasional treat as once I start eating them there's no stopping me.

Maynard's Bassett's are the ones😉

I tried Lidl's but they're awful. Just dry and sugary rubbish.

Love a bit of liquorice! In my 30s here

Whattheladybirdheardnow · 27/04/2024 20:33

you are not being unreasonable. Anyone who likes this stuff should be burnt at the stake. I used to tolerate it as a kid in sherbet fountains just to get the sherbet out, then bin the liquorice stick. Then my world changed when I discovered Sherbet dip dabs and I realised I didn’t have to put up with the liquorice stick nonsense.

WickWood · 27/04/2024 20:34

29 and I love it!

beguilingeyes · 27/04/2024 20:37

What the fuck has age got to do with I!!??

Cantbebotheredwithausername · 27/04/2024 20:37

I'm 35, and you're massively unreasonable. This whole thread is pure blasphemy. Liquorice is the best thing in the world!

Also, I'm Scandinavian.... :-)

Some foods increase or decrease in popularity from generation to generation, so of course age has something to do with it. Traditional sweets popular when my parents were kids, or even when I was a kid, aren't the same as what's popular now.

SerenityNowInsanityLater · 27/04/2024 20:45

My kids' Dutch friends bring bags of licorice to our house. We all love it and eat it. I grew up in the States and it's always been my favourite. I am 52! But my youngest is coming up on 10 and he eats it. My older children do too. My kids love Panda licorice (it's our favourite, here in the UK- prefer it to allsorts which are also loved).

Akko · 27/04/2024 20:50

In my 30s and l love it, especially the salted kind, so addictive.

edgeware · 27/04/2024 20:54

I’m Dutch and was raised on it, even as a young child I liked it.

westcountrywoman · 27/04/2024 22:38

YABU - I'm mid-40s and love it.

Rapunzel91 · 27/04/2024 22:38

Salty liquorice is devine. The non salty stuff I don’t eat. Hate that I can’t get salty ones in the UK

utilitarianism · 27/04/2024 23:01

I don't care for it, but I like how it smells. Same thing with coffee: Never drink it, but find the aroma comforting.
