Liquorice is the food of the devil and it's slowly dying out as people come to their senses with regards to this disgusting black substance, which has clearly been pulled straight from Satan's bumhole

YABU - I am a weirdo who likes liquorice
YANBU - I am a normal person who agrees that whoever invented this stuff belongs in prison

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 27/04/2024 07:56

4 generations of my family aged 3 to 95 love liquorice, including the salty kind.

SmallScreen · 27/04/2024 07:58

My 7 year old loves licorice 😂

I am over 50 and find it revolting.
Have you ever cone across a " Pontefract Cake"?
Disgusting!

How disappointed were you when you found out that Pontefract cake wasnt a cake?

I was devastated

Hate licorice and I hate people that pronounce it as licorice, instead of lickorish.

DrLucyVanPelt · 27/04/2024 08:10

Under 50, love liquorice (in moderate amounts for reasons I won't elaborate on 😬).

Can absolutely recommend trying a 'Whitby Gothic' for anyone in that neck of the woods ... the best ice cream we've had in ages!

43 and love it!

jengachampion · 27/04/2024 08:12

Raspberry liquorice is nice

AxolotlEars · 27/04/2024 08:12

Love it. My 16 year old loves it too....which is pretty weird as there's loads of food she won't eat (ASD)

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 27/04/2024 08:17

DS is in his 30s, love it.

As do I, Dutch/Scandi heritage.

DH (Irish blood) calls the salted liquorice I love “Satan’s bum holes.”

Gorgonemilezola · 27/04/2024 08:24

Wonder if it's like coriander in that some people's taste buds just can't cope.

Poor DH has to limit his intake due to blood pressure issues but DM used to buy him a box full of different kinds of liquorice for Christmas every year.

And yes, liquorice gekato is a revelation.

SkyBloo · 27/04/2024 08:26

Omg now I'm gonna spend saturday hunting for black liquorice i bloody love it

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 27/04/2024 08:28

I'm over 50 and I think it's horrible. I mean... I can eat it. But why on earth would you want to?

BooksAndHooks · 27/04/2024 08:29

I adore it. I cannot be trusted to open a bag as I will eat the lot.

youdialwetile · 27/04/2024 00:01

49 and loving it. Just picked up a tray of liquorice toffee from the sweetie shop. Kids all love it too. DH - not so much.

Liquorice toffee is different though. I love that stuff.

But Pontefract cakes. No way🤮

bluecomputerscreen · 27/04/2024 08:30

yabu

I love the stuff, especially the scandinavian salmiak types.
I use them like throat sweets when I have to give talks or go for a run.

LayllasBees · 27/04/2024 08:33

Noooo YABVVVU liquorice is my favourite

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 27/04/2024 08:34

Stay away from Denmark OP!

VestibuleVirgin · 27/04/2024 08:36

Bumhole? Are you 5 years old?

Pellegrinogirl987 · 27/04/2024 08:40

Licorice loving weirdo here! Out and proud!

Dontcallmescarface · 27/04/2024 08:42

DD (in her early 30's), loves it. I absolutely hate it, even the smell makes me heave.

EBearhug · 27/04/2024 09:03

Salty drop is an abomination which should be banned under the Geneva convention.

However, normal liquorice is lush.

I was deeply disappointed thst when I went to Pontefract, there were no Pontefract cakes to be seen. I had to make do with Tesco liquorice twists, which aren't the same. Nice museum, though - lovely building.

lilsupersparks · 27/04/2024 09:04

I love it, I’m under 50. My 14 year old son loves it too!

Saralouhe · 27/04/2024 09:04

Is vile. 39

TeaAndTrifle · 27/04/2024 10:30

I'm in my 40s and love liquorice! Sweet, salty, you name it. No one else in my house does which is all the better for me as it wont get stolen.

Whatdoyouseeplease · 27/04/2024 10:31

Ohhh I love it!! Liquorice twists are sooo yummy! I am in my thirties and have always enjoyed it since I was a child.
