Liquorice is the food of the devil and it's slowly dying out as people come to their senses with regards to this disgusting black substance, which has clearly been pulled straight from Satan's bumhole

YABU - I am a weirdo who likes liquorice
YANBU - I am a normal person who agrees that whoever invented this stuff belongs in prison

YANBU - In my 50s and I also am perplexed as to why people like liquorice. It makes me want to vomit.

DolceGustoooohCoffee · 27/04/2024 02:38

I'm 30 and a liquorice lover, I always treat myself to something from Lakrids by Bülow at Christmas and my birthday

HangryOliveMentor · 27/04/2024 03:06

I didn’t like it as a child but have grown to, particularly the salty stuff. 30s.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 27/04/2024 03:09

Liquorice is winning! I love it even the weird Dutch varieties. The kind with coloured icing is horrible though.

MariaVT65 · 27/04/2024 03:10

I love it except when I went off it in pregnancy.

Redglitter · 27/04/2024 03:14

I absolutely LOVE licquorice. I've never understood the hate for it. It's amazing

echt · 27/04/2024 03:33

I used to like it, but don't like any sweets now.

I remember as a child proper liquorice twigs were commonplace in sweet shops.

TheCoffeeNebula · 27/04/2024 03:42

In my thirties and adore liquorice. Hard liquorice, soft liquorice, sweet liquorice, salty liquorice, liquorice with sal ammoniac, liquorice tea, liquorice root to chew, liquorice toffee, liquorice coins, liquorice allsorts, liquorice chews… all of it.

It's a young person's sweet, though — too much of it isn't good for the blood pressure Grin

My 25 yo DS loves the stuff. So does my mum and I quite like it too, but we are over your threshold OP!

Pontefract cakes are irresistible. Panda soft liquorice is even better and my local Holland and Barrett store is my supplier.

I feel no shame .

I love the Panda bars, so does my son. All flavours are good.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 27/04/2024 06:01

36 and have always loved it, after a move to Scandinavia that love has deepened 😁 (except salted 🤮)

Butchyrestingface · 27/04/2024 06:06

I like me a liquorice dib dab. May have to order some from Amazon now. 😋

nothingsforgotten · 27/04/2024 06:15

I'm over 50 and I LOVE liquorice. I don't buy it often as I can't control myself and would eat a whole packet in one go. Apparently it can raise your blood pressure, which is why I can't trust myself with it. Both my parents liked it also.

I would probably go as far as saying I prefer it to chocolate - and I love chocolate.

Berlinlover · 27/04/2024 06:21

I’m 47 and love it. Liquorice flavoured tea is lovely.

IcouldbutIdontwantto · 27/04/2024 06:24

coldcallerbaiter · 27/04/2024 00:05

My kids live it.

tried liquorice gelato?

Can raise your blood pressure though…

Edited

I've only ever seen it once - it blew my mind and I'm so sad I haven't seen it since.

To answer your question OP - I love liquorice. Especially covered in chocolate. It's a revelation for your tastebuds (37yo, DH 35 agrees... as does my colleague in his 20's)

countrygirl99 · 27/04/2024 06:24

You'd hate Sweden. They have shops that just sell liquorice

I love liquorice - particularly the salted stuff, and I am under 50. My 12 year old also loves it. Although, in fairness, we would probably both identify as being slightly weird in general.

Try something from this website OP, it might convert you!

We spend waaaaaay too much money on LbB... 🤤

Poppins2016 · 27/04/2024 06:33

I love it, have done since I was a child (late thirties now).

BurstingSeams · 27/04/2024 06:33

YANBU. Although I have to admit that DD(12) loves it and has done ever since she was 2.5 and I used some liquorice wheels on DC1's birthday cake. I bought them because I needed a wheel, not because they're liquorice. And I discovered DH likes it too.

TheGlitterFairy · 27/04/2024 06:34

45 and I adore liquorice and had some from my stash last night!

Netaporter · 27/04/2024 06:35

The year is 1978. The kind old lady next door used to buy us sweets every week. The anticipation was thrilling… until you realised she had handed you a bag of liquorice comfits. Or liquorice wheels. Or a liquorice sherbet. Or the weird liquorice pipes with hundreds and thousands stuck to the end to look like it was lit (fake smoking products that were fashioned from sweets were quite the thing 😂). Obviously this was 1978 so we were grateful, said thank you and ate them even though in reality they were rank. Explaining you didn’t like liquorice to her would’ve earned you a slap from your mum.
She alternated between liquorice-based products or jellied fruits. Equally nasty.

Kids don’t know they’re born these days 😂

Caffeineneedednow · 27/04/2024 06:36

Hate the stuff but DP ( late 30s) and DSS (12) love it. They also like marmite so they clearly just have broken taste buds 🤣

KimberleyClark · 27/04/2024 06:37

I hate it and I am over 60.

KeinLiebeslied54321 · 27/04/2024 06:37

I don't like liquorice on it's own but I enjoy a 'Liquorice Allsort'.
I'm under 50.
I said YABU because you're being rude and ageist.
