A male was caught on camera whispering to a small boy and then biting his ear in a potentially sexual way.

The police are now involved too

I think people saying he knew the camera was there and was pulling silly faces at it before hand as a justification are off.
He may have been stood there so long that he let his mind wander and simply was not thinking about the camera in that moment.
He forgot he was potentially being filmed and behaved in a way that is normal to him and the child reminded him there's a camera there.

When people show you who they are, believe them.

It's unlikely he wouldn't realise or remember there was no camera there. It's a very small area, with a lot of people often stood crowded round. They appear to be close to the barrier. The filming area is small and the cameras are fairly large Ines and very visible - it would have been in his eyeline the whole time he was there. It's incredibly unlikely he forgot it was there.

SloaneStreetVandal · 28/04/2024 15:29

What this man did was not mere affectionate nuzzling. And the boy is an adolescent, at that age it is entirely the right of the child to instigate or accept hugs/kisses etc! In any case, regardless of a child's age, licking their face is entirely inappropriate - it's disgusting. If it IS indeed the case that its this man's idea of a joke then he needs to learn boundaries PDQ.

It looks weird to lots of people. I think people who use social media and post pictures of their kids on there are really weird. I'm in the absolute minority. I am happy to stand alone in my knowing on that one. The masses act like absolute imbeciles. I recall the scandal when David Beckham kissed his daughter on the lips. Such outrage. Ridiculous

With this, we really won't ever know for certain will we with what info we have so far. Everything about this says not the mainstream, not the norm, that doesn't make it wrong to me. I nibble my son's ear! We make weird squeaky noises.

When I look at the public, the masses and how blimmin insane they have become I will go with my instincts every time. If I'm wrong I will come back on here and apologise.

As for the fallout on this for the kid, I blame the masses again. The idiot who first put it on social media so everyone will give him a like. Idiot

Have you seen the actual unpixellated footage? I doubt you nibble your son's ear in the same way as the man in the video and is your son 12 years old or much younger? The video is sickening, it really is.

I don't come from an overly affectionate family-we're very close but we don't hug/kiss in my immediate family. My great uncle however would kiss everyone on the cheek to greet you-including me as a child. I found it VERY uncomfortable but I couldn't say anything. I also had a friend who had to kiss her dad on the cheek up to teen years every time she went out. He was a great dad but it was embarrassing for her. Just because this kid is putting up with it doesn't mean it's not hugely inappropriate and he's not uncomfortable. But every parent like this will say it's fine and the kid doesn't mind it.

Pantaloons99 · 28/04/2024 20:30

@Firefly1987 that sounds horrible. I totally agree how uncomfortable that would make you feel. I think many of us have dealt with forced kisses off relatives. My son is so open and honest he tells me outright if he doesn't like something. The ear thing is no more as it's absolute cringe he says 😄. This doesn't feel the same to me.

I will go look up the entire longer version. I really don't see what I've seen so far as disgusting. It's weird but alot of us are weird. I'm weird but I'm far from a pervo abuser. Maybe time will tell if more info comes out down the line.

I've seen his name online. It doesn't appear he's the father. He is an Italian man. How do we report this to the Italian police?

Would the Yorkshire Police report him to them?

DrJoanAllenby · 29/04/2024 09:48

He might have an Italian name and be a British citizen if he was born here to Italian parents.

How ridiculous to suggest reporting him to the Italian press.

Are the sources that have given a name absolutely 100% sure that is his name anyway?!

BringItOnxxx · 29/04/2024 09:52

No I've seen his Facebook and pictures of the boy..they clearly live in Italy.

Willmafrockfit · 29/04/2024 09:54

BringItOnxxx · 29/04/2024 09:42

are you completely crazy
are you in the police force,
just leave it
stop being a vigilante - it is not good behaviour

BringItOnxxx · 29/04/2024 09:55

Why would anyone be against safeguarding a child?

I have seen a brief clip of this but won't go looking again. That poor kid.

Either he is being abused by his dad and this will now be investigated and stopped.
Or it was a slightly weird interaction between a father and son, one that to many people looks odd, maybe the kid was uncomfortable with it and now it has been plastered everywhere and all of his friends, their families have seen it and they have to go through trial by twitter as well as a police investigation.

Obviously if it is the first, then I hope the boy will get the support he needs and the man gets the justice he deserves.
But if it's the second then what an ordeal for that family. Obviously this is what I hope is the case.

My husband and kids goof around - piling onto each other on the sofa. The kids instigate this as often as dh. If there were cameras filming a time when dh instigated it would there be demands for police investigations?

Exactly a police investigation is to rule out any wrongdoing. We have to err on the side of caution when it comes to child protection however.

I have reported the information about the man to West Yorkshire Police. Will also follow up with NSPCC and hope they can liaise with authorities in Italy. Apparently some person on line had created a crypto with the info... whatever that means?

GerminateMyParsnips · 29/04/2024 10:55

The last thing the police (or this case) needs is people sharing names online and going about acting as if they already know what's going on and who these people are. Maybe he's Italian. Maybe he isn't. Online rumours can, and do, get it wrong and whoever out there is sharing names, is being stupid.

We literally JUST had the problem with online vigilante types sharing the wrong name in relation to the male abuser featured in Baby Reindeer and the Chris Jefferies example is valid, I think, because it is about the public deciding they know more than the people investigating and their actions possibly jeapordising any potential future court case.

That's exactly why I haven't named the person identified. However reporting to police (who can do there own checks) is entirely appropriate.

Otherwise why would we have Crimestopppers etc? Makes no sense to say we have information but not going to report it.

Sophds · 29/04/2024 20:20

Should definitely be investigated because it’s weird but I know some continental families have weird little quirks like this. Gut feeling is it’s not paedophilic or abusive but inappropriate, hope I’m correct.

I’ve found response to it quite distressing for a few reasons. 1. It’s fired up the “hang/shoot them all” crowd and from personal experience too many of those types turn out to be simply deflecting. (A friends dad who used to get very vocal about her having marginally older boyfriends - calling them pedos etc - in her teens turned out to be touching her sister for years. Don’t trust these types and never will) 2. Strong emotional reactions tend to keep abuse victims quiet by making them fear the reaction of going public.

Should be investigated. Kids face shouldn’t be plastered everywhere. Saying they should all be shot/killed/seriously injured doesn’t make you a hero in fact you’re contributing to the issue (if you aren’t up to it yourself).

The police are already investigating.
They will have access to the same information you have and way more.
If it needed reporting to the Italian authorities they have the means to do this.

It doesn't need random people picking bits from twitter, than may or may not be correct, and emailing random Italian police forces!

That's how the 'don't fuck with cats' killer was found.

Janiie · 29/04/2024 20:43

This is awful, the poor boy. If it is just playful or something more to have the young lad's face all over the Internet is massively intrusive and damaging.

Trial by social media. Ugh.

Or he might have enjoyed the risk of possibly being caught on camera. There are some really sick creeps out there. I hope it's nothing.

The Italian man named doesn't look like the man in the video! 🤷🏼‍♀️
