A male was caught on camera whispering to a small boy and then biting his ear in a potentially sexual way.

The police are now involved too

I don't know. My kids and I do stupid stuff like go to kiss each other and lick cheeks instead. Or the boys give each other 'wet willies' (licked thumb in ear). On the other hand it went on a bit and didn't look like it was done jokingly.

By kids do you mean their dad?

This was a dad. Not kids.

OneFrenchEgg · 27/04/2024 08:42

By 'I' I meant me their mum. So an adult.

Ok. You do this in public?

But what do your kids do when you lick their face? Do they jump? Move away? Laugh. Or just stand there while you then bite and tug on their ear?

PlipPlopChoo · 27/04/2024 08:49

I would be more worried about their block like facial deformities.

OneFrenchEgg · 27/04/2024 08:51

I think my post was quite clear that I wasn't sure what to think, using an example but acknowledging the difference.

this is so intrusive

Minfilia · 27/04/2024 09:12

The video I saw wasn’t pixelated. It was pretty obvious (and really grim). I hope the little lad is okay.

Isopodia · 27/04/2024 09:14

God, the full video is on twitter and it's fucking awful.

AmandaAlli · 27/04/2024 09:29

I watched the whole of this on Iplayer on my TV, the boy, and what is obviously his younger brother and father are shown a lot during a 15 minute section. Most of the time they are just waving at the camera, pulling funny faces and laughing. I think this whole incident has been taken out of context, a few seconds of silent video can at first look creepy, but when you see it on a large screen, and in context it takes on a different look. A few seconds before the viral clip you can see the boy turn to his dad and point out they are on camera and all three grin directly at the camera, so they definitely know they are on live TV, then the boy can be seen to say something else to the dad, the dad bends towards him and says something very close to the side of his face/ear (this is in the middle of a live tv interview, so it stands to reason he’d whisper to answer the boy) then as he draws back to stand upright he just nips the kid on the ear. If I had to say anything about it I would say it was in a playful way, not a sinister way, like the way you might give a quick dig in the ribs. They way this has gone viral and the accusations I’ve seen flying around must be so stressful for these children, and the rest the family.

Amx · 27/04/2024 09:38

Eww that looks pretty grim. Poor kid being plastered all over the internet with his dad nuzzling his ear after kissing his cheek.

Hope it's all innocent but it looks all types of wrong.

I still give my boys ‘wet willies’ and they are adults! I think you are right to be sceptical, a silent clip of a few seconds looks weird, the whole clip close up looks much less sinister, the boy is there with his little brother and his dad and they seem like they are having a great time waving at the cameras pulling faces, and laughing, l would say this was just a playful bite on the ear, it might seem weird to some, but as you say my kids and I did a lot of that silly face licking, wet willie stuff.

ArseholeCatIsABlackAndWhiteCat · 27/04/2024 09:56

The video (especially without sounds) looks extremely bad and creepy. I am glad the police are investigating as they should, but I am cautious on making a definite judgement as to what's going on.

Allfur · 27/04/2024 09:57

I've always found the wet Willie thing is gross, are you sure the recepients are OK with it

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/04/2024 09:59

Out of context meant things can seem strange. I've nibbled Dads ear before, and pretended to bite her nose!

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/04/2024 09:59

DDs!!!!

HappyGoLucky96 · 27/04/2024 10:01

We’re is the video?

Freakonaleash · 27/04/2024 10:15

As a female victim of similar age 5 but at a kids party, all I can say is that poor boy 😥
At least there will be intervention. At that 80s kids party, he was free to take his young girls home and God knows what happened after that.

I think unless you are a bully (which I'm not, and neither are my kids) it just is some stupid family thing

motheronthedancefloor · 27/04/2024 10:23

I have mixed feelings about this.
If it was a family just messing around, playful nip in the ear, sort of thing, then all these stories in the news etc could cause a lot of upset for an innocent family.
But if there is something going on, obviously the police should investigate.

I don’t know, look for the version where their faces are not blurred out (I know this is really shit for the young boy). He kind of nudges his cheek with his nose and leans into his ear then nibbles his ear - it’s his facial
expression that stands out. It is very odd and to be honest my gut told me it looks overly sexual. I hope I am wrong and he was messing around.

Naunet · 27/04/2024 10:32

EmilyTjP · 27/04/2024 07:55

I didn’t see anything sexual in it at all and think the whole thing is ridiculous.

Then you’re blind. As someone who was abused as a kid, a lot of adults decide they ‘see nothing’.

FictionalCharacter · 27/04/2024 10:41

The full non-pixelated video on X was disturbing.
The man appears to lick the boy's face before nibbling his ear. Before he sees the screen the man looks serious, there's no jokey expression. The boy looks uncomfortable, he doesn't laugh or say "argh get off haha" or react in any way that would make you think it's a (weird) family joke. He's much older than a child most parents would kiss and nuzzle in public. The man looks momentarily shocked when he sees he's on the screen and then starts clowning.
I think it's good that the police are investigating. This might be just a family with rather strange habits and it's all consensual, but the child deserves help if there's anything that isn't.

DrJoanAllenby · 27/04/2024 10:45

I can't think of any innocent reason as to why the man did this.

I did consider the man could be someone with a mental age of a child but then there are no carers/supervisors next to him pulling him away from the boy.

Even if the man has a mental age of three it's not fair that the boy has been told to tolerate it as the boy whilst unsettled by it didn't appear angry with the man.

It would still be weird if it were a young man and woman as a couple doing this in public.
