Yes or no, what do you think?

My personal opinion is that it's not basic and I'm partial to a cheese and pickle sandwich from time to time.

Whats the definition of basic and are you using basic as a negative term?

Basic and simple is good

Cheese and pickle is a combination that cant be easily beat, although Cheese and lettuce for some reason is a fantastic combination, I dont know why

StMarieforme · 26/04/2024 20:21

Cheese and beetroot too. Delicious!

CheshireCats · 26/04/2024 20:22

Yes, I would consider it basic.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 26/04/2024 20:22

It may be basic, but it's delicious...

more context required

Notsuretoputit · 26/04/2024 20:22

How could it not be basic?

Delicious, but very basic.

Choresavoidance · 26/04/2024 20:22

It’s a simple classic - though I imagine not so popular these days when there are so many meal deal choices

Notthatoneeh · 26/04/2024 20:23

Cheese and pickle is superb OP

missmollygreen · 26/04/2024 20:23

It really depends how good the cheese is. Really mature, great. Mild... basic

toastofthetown · 26/04/2024 20:23

Things can be basic without that meaning you can’t enjoy it. A cheese and pickle sandwich is basic in the way that every supermarket meal deal will have one. It’s not creative or out there as a combination. Even if people don’t like cheese and pickle, people won’t be wondering where on earth you got the idea for that paring from. But that doesn’t make it inherently bad.

My favourite cheese toastie is just cheese, bread and butter. Basic yes, delicious, yes.

SocksAndTheCity · 26/04/2024 20:24

What kind of cheese and what kind of pickle? What type of bread? Too many variables 😳

I would say plastic white bread with cheese slices and Branston would be basic (and I would crawl through broken glass for a few rounds of them now) 😊

PossumintheHouse · 26/04/2024 20:24

If you mean basic as in it is a traditional and usual sandwich, yes it obviously is.

Birch101 · 26/04/2024 20:24

Yes basic.
Pesto chicken, chorizo, sundried tomatoes mozzarella Flatbread type thing - not basic

Laserwho · 26/04/2024 20:24

It's a cheap sandwich which fills my kids. Who cares if it's basic as long as I can feed my kids?

VickyEadieofThigh · 26/04/2024 20:26

It's my all-time favourite sandwich, though for me it must be made with granary bread.

Stressfordays · 26/04/2024 20:26

Must be bad to be holding up in a filthy garage with a cheese and pickle sandwich 🤣

Cherrysherbet · 26/04/2024 20:27

It’s up there with cheese and coleslaw, cheese and lettuce, and of course cheese and tomato 😋
Nothing basic about a cheese and pickle sarnie.

PonyPatter44 · 26/04/2024 20:28

Well, it's not elaborate, is it? So I suppose it's "basic". But if its really strong Davidstow Cheddar or Lincolnshire Poacher, with lots of Branston pickle, on sliced tiger bread....I'll take basic every time, thank you.

shockeditellyou · 26/04/2024 20:28

A good strong cheddar cheese and Branston pickle sandwich is food of the gods IMO. I hate the way that all the supermarket sandwiches tend to the fancy. Cheese and pickle, and egg mayonnaise are the best.

SevenSeasOfRhye · 26/04/2024 20:29

I would say 'classic' not 'basic'.

Bumblebeeinatree · 26/04/2024 20:30

Very nice.

dreadisabaddog · 26/04/2024 20:30

Love cheese and pickle but it always scares me when I see one in the supermarket having so many more calories and salt than most other sandwiches. I know a home version marginally better but...

fuckssaaaaake · 26/04/2024 20:32

Basic as in easy to make but off the charts on the taste chart

Vitriolinsanity · 26/04/2024 20:33

Fucking lush with fresh bread and Heinz Tomato soup.

LongLostSock · 26/04/2024 20:35

Not if you eat it with wotsits!
