aibu not shaving my legs

tis is causing a bit of friction (excuse the pun) between me and dh.

i really cant be bothered doing it, its the winter and i am living in jeans, when the summer comes round and i am in crops etc i will start doing it again then.

last night i had my legs streched out on the couch and he made a really childish comment about it, basically along the lines of he thinks its horrible and wants me to wear socks (in my own f**king house)

to be honest it was more the childish way he put it that pissed me right of, had he said it in a joking way i possibly would have toddled of upstairs and got a razor out.

this is the same man who finds periods yucky and wont ever let his dc see him without having at least shorts on, he has a very childish view about a lot of things.

anyway once we went to bed last night he made a move and i said no-way, if my legs were that horrible then why on earth would he want to have sex with me.

aibu about this? do you always have your legs done? i shave under my arms every few days but thats because i am terrified of having b.o. i would leave them in the winter as well if i could.

btw my legs are not even that bad, i have fair hair so its only some dark hair around my ankles that are noticable, above that you cant see anything.

I made it clear to my DH that he either massivly trimmed his hair down below or he'd never get me down there again!! i used to hate his pubes tickling my nose!! He's happy to do it for me, as i am to wax everything for him, and keep my legs nice and smooth!!

what is the big deal...some women like to shave often...some women need to shave often otherwise they look like the wolf man's sister hehe...some don't shave often and only under juress or for a specific reason (like me..lol)..the point is to love yourself hairy or not..waxed or tufty

Mumcentreplus · 01/04/2008 20:58

do feminists believe women are better than men?????

harpsichordcarrier · 01/04/2008 20:58

MF no-one on this thread thinks it is "bad" that women feel the need to remove their hair to feel sexy.
but not everyone does.

i don't do it to feel sexy.

i like the way i look without my rug of hair.

i am very, very hair and i don't like that.

i don't like my grey hair, either. i think it makes my skin even sallower. so i die it.

i don't like the way i look or feel when i don't exercise. so i do that, too.

Mumcentreplus · 01/04/2008 21:02

so do you not feel like sex if you have a hairy fan then?..lol..coz hair on me minge aint stopping me from loving!

dingdong05 · 01/04/2008 21:07

A slight aside, but I know I am getting too much mn as this is the only place I see the word fanjo... and I'm starting to use it myself!
lol

NiftyNanny · 01/04/2008 21:08

The only time I shaved my minge I got the worst rash where it rubbed against my pants - not sexy, not comfortable!

Yes, I do know the obvious solution to that

Mumcentreplus · 01/04/2008 21:08

I think I'm def. a Liberal Feminist

Theochris · 01/04/2008 21:17

OK I won't be sad

beautifuldays · 01/04/2008 21:21

i studied this when i was at university

apparently women started shaving their legs at about the same time that women started to work alongside men and could get jobs outside the home. apparently it was something to do with creating a distinction between the sexes as their roles were becoming less and less defined.

if that makes sense at all. it's quite a long time since i did my degree

well some feminists might think they are better than men.
this doesn't mean that all feminists do, and it certainly does not mean that feminism means thinking women are better than men, or that you can't be a feminist unless you think you are better than a man.
that is simply a non-sequitur.

skeletonbones · 01/04/2008 21:45

Did anyone see 'fuck off I'm a hairy woman'? on BBC3 a few months ago?, I found it really interesting, and loved the 'hairy cat walk' show at the end.
anyway back to the origianal question, no YANBU, unless of course your husband shaves of all his body hair himself daily and you had a prenup stating that you would both stay hairless for the rest of your married days or summat

Elasticwoman · 01/04/2008 21:55

Fascinating thread. I don't shave my legs unless I think they are going to be seen in public, so at the moment they are quite hairy. Dh doesn't notice or care about that or armpit hair and is always telling me how lucky I am that he still fancies me after so many centuries together, aren't I lucky blah blah blah.

It does remind me of the time I once felt what I thought was a hair on the back of my leg getting caught by my stocking or possibly suspender belt. On repairing to the ladies' loo I soon found that it wasn't the top of my leg, it was my buttock and the feeling was caused by a bee that had stung me and was still in my knickers till I screamed and subsequently flushed it away.

I'll never be a good buddhist.

LilyMunster · 01/04/2008 22:01

this thread is long and i cant be arsed, so apols if ive missed anything interesting...

but in answer to op ; id shave nothing for this man. except maybe his head while he sleeps. or an eyebrow perhaps. seems a suitably juvenile response to a juvenile arse.

buyt then, im feeling arsey tonight

I think the point being, MF, that women have the right... to be treated equally.

shinyshoes · 01/04/2008 22:11

YANBU, I too wait for a reason to shave, summer being a good one, I've often let them grow for ages, as an experiment to see how long they grow. In the winter no bugger can seee them so why should I shave them, Lifes too short

LyraSilvertongue · 01/04/2008 22:12

I very rarely shave my legs. But then I'm not very hairy.

harpsichordcarrier · 01/04/2008 22:17

MF - you don't think women shoul dbe empowered?
why not?
you don't think women's rights should be increased?
what has this all to do with thinking women are better than men

LilyMunster · 01/04/2008 22:19

motherfunk, you dont half talk some rubbish sometimes love!
