Sick of this fucking weather. No wonder we are all ill and fat.

The heating has been on at home at some point every day for the past 7 months. I’ve no inclination to get out and walk or do anything at all after work. I come home and cook comfort food as there’s sod all else to do. Drying washing everywhere, house always looks untidy.

It’s always cold, dark, rainy, depressing. If we’re lucky we’ll get 2-3 months of a bit of warmth and sunshine before it all starts waning towards winter again.

No wonder there’s lots of bugs and colds around, we’re all indoors all the time! Couple the shitty weather with high costs of living, crap public services and it makes me wonder why I didn't feck off to Australia when I was younger.

No point to this post, just a moan!

We just had a dry and mild and tentatively sunny (ish) weekend in London and I feel like a different person! My energy levels and mood soared.

You don’t realise just HOW depressing the constant rain and dark and cold is. We just have one long season of winter in the UK, with micro seasons for the other three. It’s relentlessly bleak,

I’m honestly not one to complain and try to find the joy in all parts of the year, but it has really ground me down this year.

AstralSpace · 08/04/2024 19:17

It's pretty grim and annoying but I force myself to go out. Not getting out just makes it worse.
I love coming home to a clean house, healthy warming food, to sit and relax but that can only happen if I actually clean the house, make healthy food then go out.

But they get paid enough to afford their expensive food. Likewise all the other Nordic countries.

I saw an article the other day, they're all consistently the top 5 happiest countries in the world.

Their weather is far worse than ours but they have less inequality and poverty, public services that are fit for purpose including better mental health provision.

Which helps the population be more resilient and satisfied with their lot, more likely to get on with it and less likely to be moping indoors if it's raining.

And yet their suicide rates are around 30% higher than ours, despite all the admirable government interventions that go into forging equitable societies. Shit weather makes you feel like shit.

Fartooold · 08/04/2024 19:17

I'm sick to death of it too. Got dogs who positively love the rain and take an age to dry.
I'm so fed up, I'm going camping for a couple of days tomorrow. I'm going to Sycamore Gap and Hadrians Wall on Wednesday. It's going to piss down and I just don't care anymore.
I'll wear wellies and a hat. I'll splash in puddles and drink hot chocolate.
The dogs can wear their dressing gowns and negotiate their Kongs while they dry.
I will be on the road, free to go anywhere and the fecking weather is not going to stop me,!

I'll let you know how it went once I recover from pneumonia😁

Andywarholswig · 08/04/2024 19:19

I am sick to the back fucking teeth of the rain but most of all the MUD - I have had to shave my poor labradoodle as he’s up to his balls in mud on his 2 walks a day and it got to the point where he was never fully dry.
I’m in London where supposedly we get the good weather but I can’t remember a day where it hasn't rained. Today I popped out after work to walk the dog, it was 17c and sunny and then it absolutely pissed it down again out of nowhere. I am going to retire somewhere sunny

naffall · 08/04/2024 19:25

It's not rained here for 2 days, but I'm full of the cold (again) and just want my bed 🤒

Starlightstarbright3 · 08/04/2024 19:28

I am also with you Op .

I don’t want to be wrapped up in a Mac with the wind blowing in my face

My heating is off . I am too much in debt from winter heating so the house isn’t cold but has a chill in it . We can live with it but yes I want to feel warm sit in my egg chair and read a book . Not sit in the sofa watching Tv under a duvet

EveryoneJapan · 08/04/2024 19:33

Not sure being fat has much to do with the weather but I agree the endless rain and grey days can be draining. That said, when it’s dry, I love a good bracing walk in the cold.

Plumeface · 08/04/2024 19:34

Being fat has plenty to do with the weather. It's much, much easier to exercise when you can get outside, and it's much, much easier to eat well in the summer.

Bloom15 · 08/04/2024 19:37

Agree OP - it has rained here at some point bar about 3 days for the whole year. The damp makes my asthma worse so can't get out - very fed up with it

Agreed. How many days do we piss away sat under a blanket because going outside means getting soaked, messing up the car, changing clothes, drying off kids/dogs and then mopping the hallway because of mud?

Tlolljs · 08/04/2024 19:38

I’m pissed off with it too. Garden is just a mud patch. Washing drying indoors. Hallway full of boots and coats.
Im not even a sun bunny but fuck me I’ve think I’ve got webbed feet.

TeenLifeMum · 08/04/2024 19:38

I refused to put heating on when working from home today but ended up with the throw over my legs. I’m outdoorsy and love walking the dog over the country park fields around us. Even the dog is fed up and despite not being a fan of baths, yesterday he sat looking up at the utility room sink and willingly got in so I could shower him off he was so covered in grey mud/clay. I’m ready to sit in the garden with my morning coffee. Roll on a heat wave.

Chitterchatterer · 08/04/2024 19:38

OP, are you in Scotland?

Global warming, yet it's so cold!

Would love to live somewhere warm with more fruits and varieties of green leafy veg in the garden. Will have to book a flight somewhere.

EndoEnd · 08/04/2024 19:40

We're all going to be moaning at the heatwave and hosepipe ban this summer 🌞🔥😂

BarrelOfOtters · 08/04/2024 19:41

Completely pissed off with it. Want the garden to dry out,

Orangexhest · 08/04/2024 19:41

innerdesign · 08/04/2024 18:51

Oh god, I agree OP but we're going to get loads of people who live on the south coast going 'well it's not like that here!!!'. I have waterproofs, I also have a spaniel, so I'm out long walks in all weathers. In the past two months I think we've had three walks where I've taken my winter jacket off. The rest it's been raining or cold and windy. Last summer we had three weeks of nice weather in May/June, two days of sun in September, and I'm not exaggerating when I say the whole rest of the year was cold and wet. It gets you down.

You are definitely exaggerating 🤣
(unless you’re in Scotland or somewhere I suppose, I don’t know what the weather was like there).

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 08/04/2024 19:41

We moved from the north of Egland when we were kids. now in london - on the hole the weather is much, much better than the north and even the mid Englands

It blimmin’ well is! My bit of the south coast anyway.

It feels like it’s rained for months.

I have a horse and a dog that needs walking. I’m sick of rain, wind and mud, and may swing for the next person who tells me “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing”

peachgreen · 08/04/2024 19:43

I’m in NI. I have a six year old and a dog. Getting out is a necessity, regardless of weather. I would have been the same as you before I got the dog, OP, but I’m used to it now and it’s fine. It’s not as nice as when the sun is shining but there are unique bright sides – you definitely feel all cosy when you get home and the wind and rain can be invigorating providing you just let go and try to make the best of it.

Having said that, for me the shitty weather is made up for by the fact that summers here are never unbearably hot, and even on the warmest days I can find a nice sea breeze.

Mrspatmoresspoon · 08/04/2024 19:43

Agree op - I’ve spent hours on the jet2 website in the last 2 weeks
