Sick of this fucking weather. No wonder we are all ill and fat.

The heating has been on at home at some point every day for the past 7 months. I’ve no inclination to get out and walk or do anything at all after work. I come home and cook comfort food as there’s sod all else to do. Drying washing everywhere, house always looks untidy.

It’s always cold, dark, rainy, depressing. If we’re lucky we’ll get 2-3 months of a bit of warmth and sunshine before it all starts waning towards winter again.

No wonder there’s lots of bugs and colds around, we’re all indoors all the time! Couple the shitty weather with high costs of living, crap public services and it makes me wonder why I didn't feck off to Australia when I was younger.

No point to this post, just a moan!

We've had shit weather since last summer. Even those who like wintery weather are beginning to get sick of the wind and heavy rain. Houses and businesses have flooded, fields are too wet for crops and I want to go out without having to wear boots and a bloody coat.

@Jumpers4goalposts

yep

suki1964 · 10/04/2024 09:41

Its pissing down - again

Just in from walking the dog and the rain even managed to get under my full length waterproof

Just about to shower and go back out in it again for work. Seem to spending a lot of time being wet and cold this year :(

LordPercyPercy · 10/04/2024 09:44

@Gymnoob If you're getting headaches and grogginess indoors to the point that you need to go outside every hour I suggest you get a carbon monoxide monitor asap.

BarrelOfOtters · 10/04/2024 09:44

I'm shocked by the 25% who think YABU...has 25% of the country not been having this weather...if so I want to live there.

We had record breaking rain yesterday, yes we did get the dog out in the wet, and had to rescue her from a river in spate (long story but we weren't being irresponsible) then got her out in the dry but it was so windy her ears were giving her gyp afterwards.

Friend's new extension foundations flooded into her house, roads closed, trees down...

Yep it was bracing lovely and exciting - if it was a one off and hadn't been like this for months.

no such thing as bad weather. I love nothing more than a walk in the rain, and wind! Better that a sunny day as not many people ate outside and I prefer not to see anyone. I live very rurally and can walk on mountain ms and in quarries and see no one.

bliss!

But you must realise you are in the minority here .

And yes - of course there's such a thing as bad weather.

The traffic doesn't help climate change, maybe we need to be less reliant on cars

Umm. Not exactly realistic for the millions that live rurally with no transport infrastructure whatsoever.

Maybe the government, who I didn't vote for, can do something about our abysmal public transport then. We don't all live in London.

I have driven a lot more over the last few years when I could have taken the train because they always go on strike or cancel when I need to travel.

”It’s not been so bad”. By me today…

Edited to add that the hideous concrete monstrosity is a sea defence wall, designed to keep the water out.

Edited

😳 so the sea defence is actually keeping the water in on your road? As the path seems dry but your road is a river .

RampantIvy · 10/04/2024 10:03

There have been some really high tides where DD lives in the North east.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 10/04/2024 10:05

That sounds awful @Teenagehorrorbag

Clarencefloss · 10/04/2024 10:05

I am starting to feel very depressed now. We are in April and still no sign of anything warm on the horizon. I’ve been off for 2 weeks and I’ve done nothing. I wanted to do some gardening and painting but I’ve not been able to. I tell you what I do get p off about is wishing my life away, ‘oh it will soon be spring’ oh it will soon be summer ‘ and then nothing but rain. I feel utterly miserable and so do the family.

😂😂😂😂

Do you live in the North? We have no trains. Our bus service in a big northern city suburb has been reduced from every 10 minutes to one every 45 minutes.

I’d love to reduce my reliance on cars, but we have no public transport. Unless you live in SE of course. They seem to get a new tube/train line every year.😏

MintTwirl · 10/04/2024 10:14

It’s actually dry here this morning. Just spent an hour in the garden with dc before the rain comes again as it’s forecast to start soon. I feel better for being outside but it’s still cold and grey, I really want to feel some warm sun on my skin.

Yes exactly. The wall was built after the last big flood at a cost of £19M, but it hasn’t actually stopped the flooding it’s just keeping the floodwater in. I’m sure heads will be rolling at the council this morning!

Public transport totally dire in Bristol despite being a city.

gmor6787 · 10/04/2024 10:54

I too am sick of this abysmal weather. Sick of getting soaked walking the dog. my car is filthy, inside and out with muddy feet even though I have covers everywhere. Trying to dry washing and wet anoraks without taking a second mortgage out and everywhere is dirty, muddy and dismal. I got a reminder of this time 6 years ago on Facebook. It was me and the grandkids in the park, wearing sunglasses eating ice cream. Those were the days.

Yeah. Only London is allowed public transport these days.

There’s of the country doesn’t count anymore.

Yes was a beautiful morning. I just said to DH when will it rain today, laughing as it looked like being a great day. Made a plan for the garden.

11am. Tipping it down.

Tlolljs · 10/04/2024 11:09

I’ve put washing on the line. First time since about end of September. Not due into work until 4 so I can keep an eye on it. Fingers crossed next door don’t end up with my bed sheets wrapped round their gnomes.

AInightingale · 10/04/2024 11:14

Lashing down in Ireland (east coast) right now. I'm afraid anyone in Scotland or the west of GB will probably get this tonight or tomorrow. Just no let up is there.

Isn't Bristol a good cycling city

userxx · 10/04/2024 11:32

Tomorrow and Friday are looking pretty decent in south Manchester, gardening day for me.

Totemoneru · 10/04/2024 11:39

I agree. Add to that a chest infection that's had me coughing for 8 weeks and counting and I'm done.

Menora · 10/04/2024 11:44

@BarrelOfOtters quite a lot of people live in drier areas of the U.K. though. I do. We apparently get 50% of the rain the rest of the U.K. usually does. However it has been wetter than normal this year, but the past week or so it was actually pretty warm out. The last couple of days it got cold but it’s due to be 20deg the next couple of days

What else are us country folk supposed to get about in when there's no public transport? It's too wet and muddy to risk the horse and cart.
