Does your uni aged children know who Heather Mills is?

Heather Mills was constantly in the media in the 2000’s as the wife of Sir Paul McCartney. If you was to ask your DC at uni or in their 20’s who she was would they know who she is? And what she was known for?

This probably belongs in pedants corner but I think it should be 'Do your uni aged children know who Heather Mills is?'.

The pedant in me thinks it should be:
Has your university-age heard of Heather Mills?
Because you are not 'aged' in a university (unlike cave-aged Roquefort or wine), but you are of unicversity age!
But @luxurylotal , who cares who she is/was. She was inconsequential to most of us; yes, she married a Beatle, a few remaining 60s groupies were outraged, as they were about Yoko, but the rest of the world just seemed to really dislike her. So why would she be relevant to a teenager today?

RuthW · 06/04/2024 07:16

My dd is 27 and doesn't know who she is.

shoppingshamed · 06/04/2024 07:17

Any other HM related facts you want us to check @luxurylotal ? Your thread about the legs probably got deleted before you had e big enough sample size for valid statistical analysis

Zanatdy · 06/04/2024 07:19

100% not, my kids (19 and 16) would have no clue who she is. I’d completely forgetten she existed but yes she got an awful lot of media attention years ago. Why the question and why would you think they’d know something about a B list ‘celeb’ when they weren’t even born when all the media hype was going on?

MyWhoHa · 06/04/2024 07:20

@Isittimeformynapyet

Yus, my dear

It should be ‘uni-aged’.

BusyMummy001 · 06/04/2024 07:23

Nope - and, frankly, it took me a good minute to remember who she was, too. Not sure why you care? She was no-one of real importance then, and still a no-one now?

Pluviophile1 · 06/04/2024 07:23

I'm not uni-aged, but I do recall that she behaved appallingly during her divorce from Paul McCartney. I now remember that more than her coming through a difficult situation and building a successful career after losing her leg. Turned out she was horrible all along. Poor Paul.

Isittimeformynapyet · 06/04/2024 00:11

You don't need that extra full stop after the question mark.

The interrogation point signifies the end of the sentence on its own.

Even if it’s part of a quote within the sentence?

Londonrach1 · 06/04/2024 07:27

Who cares now. It's in the past. I do know who she is but even in the 2000s didn't care.

ManchesterBeatrice · 06/04/2024 07:27

They wouldn't but could Google.

I vaguely would but have vague negative connotations

MyWhoHa · 06/04/2024 07:32

I remember when her and Paul announced their engagement that she said she had never heard of him. Highly unlikely because at the time, 90's, he was still extremely high profile ( my then 8 year old daughter even knew who the Beatles were). I recall that she had only a fleeting relationship with the truth and had reimagined her background somewhat.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 06/04/2024 07:49

Heather! There you are! How you been?

Hillrunning · 06/04/2024 07:51

I'm 37 and don't know who Heather Mills is.

TubeScreamer · 06/04/2024 07:54

I know without asking that they would not know (or care)

they doesn’t have a clue. They barely know who Paul McCartney is. 😂

RytonTarget · 06/04/2024 08:16

By name, I doubt it - but she's a big Beatles fan and is interested in fashion (incl Stella McC), so might know that Paul McC remarried in the 90s and had another child. I'll ask.

In the same vein, I was surprised when I mentioned Paul McKenna recently and DD and her friends all looked at me blankly. He really was a household name in his time.

VestibuleVirgin · 06/04/2024 08:18

Isittimeformynapyet · 06/04/2024 00:02

Yes, but have they heard of Arthur Mullard?

Surely that's the question people should be asking.

'Yus, My Dear', I have!!

ivs · 06/04/2024 08:19

Only as married to Paul

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 06/04/2024 08:26

I doubt most 20 year olds know who Paul McCartney is.

Riverlee · 06/04/2024 08:28

No. Why should they?

Axx · 06/04/2024 08:29

Am I the only one who read the OP in a north east accent? Way aye Heather. Give it up lass.

ZenNudist · 06/04/2024 08:30

Random.

I'd forgotten who she is until just now. There's no way a 20yo would know who she was.

RoundRedRobin · 06/04/2024 08:31

My older teens wouldn’t.

I thought you meant Heather mills from the original parent trap movie so I didn’t know who you meant either!

cryinglaughing · 06/04/2024 08:35

No.
She was was ghastly and will hopefully remain out of the public eye.

Was it her who poured water over Macca's divorce lawyer? 🤔
