To want every women in England to vote Tory at the GR

1000 replies

Hurrydash · 28/03/2024 02:01

So I don't agree with Angela Rayner's description of the Tories as scum, but I get her drift and if she'd been more tempered in her language I probably would have bought in.

HOWEVER

For me - and actually should be got everyone - the only real issue at the next GE is freedom of speech/women's rights.

I see Labour as the destroyer of these and so must vote against them. The only meaningful way to do this is to vote Tory which I am reluctant but prepared to do.

Is this unreasonable?

Happy to be convinced - for real not just words - if there is evidence Labour (Starmer 1 in 1000 women have a dick) may see the light before the GE.

And don’t don’t forget the Police and Crime Commissioner elections are coming up in May? Very important but historically a low turnout.

Write to the candidates. Ask them questions about shit like Non Crime Hate Incidents, and unfair data processing. Ask them about the impact of the Scottish ‘Hate Crime’ law and its impact on women everywhere who ‘publish’ their opinions and beliefs on social media like MN which, when read by an offended person in Scotland, can be reported as a hate crime and will be investigated as a hate crime.

Ask your current MP also. Ask your candidates. Ask them about the NHS Annexe B. Ask them about the wholesale capture of the Civil Service under this government. It’s not pretty.

Ask them what they are actually doing about it.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 28/03/2024 04:44

@Margritte amen sister!

Aussieland · 28/03/2024 04:44

I imagine OP would have voted for Trump because Clinton was silly to stay with her husband when he had an affair. Ignoring the fact trump is a corrupt rapist who had many affairs.
I think children dying, people being unable to afford food and the healthcare system falling apart is what most people care about more.
I think weed should be legalised but I am not voting for the legalise cannabis party in Australia because I understand the concept that no one issue is the only issue which exists

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 28/03/2024 04:47

@Hurrydash please explain what the current government have done to protect women's rights in the last 15 years? Specifically.

Because then they might not choose socialism"

Funny how feminists don't seem to claim Female conservative politicians as feminist icons isn't it...

If a woman does not share their far left wing politics

Then she isn't the "right" type of woman

sobeyondthehills · 28/03/2024 04:49

No, I am not voting for the Tory party.

If it helps I am also not voting for the Labour Party

No idea who I will vote for but neither of them give a shit about women's rights.

Surely, if you want women to all vote for one party, you would pick a smaller one really turn the country on its head. Why does it have to be those two?

Or ask women to vote for an Independent? Or the Loony Party, I think they have a cat as their leader

Maverickess · 28/03/2024 04:57

Convince me how my life is going to improve if this Tory government continues.

Because as a woman, it's deteriorated in the last 12 years and continues to deteriorate. I can't access an NHS dentist, I am waiting weeks for basic treatment from a Dr because I can't get an appointment, and when I do trying to get the medication I am prescribed is difficult, one trying to find a pharmacy that has it and then two that has a pharmacist often enough to actually dispense it. My drive to both is hindered by pot holes that damage my car, that I'm highly taxed (and not just in road tax but with everything associated) to drive, but that I have no option but to drive if I want to leave my house because public transport is appalling, getting worse and because it's privatised the local MP doesn't want to get involved. And that's if it doesn't get nicked because there's not enough police or enough in the justice system to actually police and tackle crime.
Millions spent and two years of disruption, costing residents and local businesses on a local town on a vanity project to make it look pretty while absolutely nothing is done about the depravation and lack of services. Nothing to support that depravation or improve it, just further cuts while the council try and make up the shortfall in their budget.
Paying more and more for everything while wages stagnate to make the rich Tory mates richer at the expense of everyone else.
And that's before you get to the corruption.

So why would I or should I vote to continue this? My life as a human and a woman is being made harder every day by Tory policies - and I don't believe for one second that the Tories are champions of women, it's sound bytes to try and convince you that Labour will screw you over based on your gender, more than the Tories screw you over now for being alive.

I think you need to lie down in a dark room, with a cold wet flannel on your fevered brow @ChinChinDarlings

But then again, given your username, you're probably just stirring the pot...

Desecratedcoconut · 28/03/2024 05:00

I think we are living through a huge backlash against women's rights. When I vote in the next g.e. it will be to preserve what we have left to be represented honestly and fairly in politics, law and policy making. I don't think that can be achieved when a party is invested in gender woo.

But to ask all women to vote one way or another is the kind of shit that got us in to this mess. Of course women have different priorities about how best to move forward and I'm sick of this emotional blackmail heaped on them to behave as a hive mind, engineered through shaming tactics and appeals to lay down their own interests for the greater good. Bollocks to all that.

CatMadam · 28/03/2024 05:03

If you vote Tory you’re a pillock, transphobia is boring and anti-feminist. Have a good day!

SoCalLiving · 28/03/2024 05:10

Honestly this makes me terrified of the prospect of having to move back to the U.K. absolutely could not deal with living in such a close minded society.

ZebraD · 28/03/2024 05:18

I think you need to give your head a shake. Tory’s don’t care about anyone or anything in my opinion. Deluded to think otherwise. Green seem pretty good…I a going to do more reading on them.

Coincidentally · 28/03/2024 05:20

YANBU but you are wasting you time posting here - people want to deny reality and believe that Labour can wave a magic wand and spend spend spend - even though Gordon Brown was so economically inept he sold off gold reserves and fo cynical that he created the ‘entitlement’ to ‘tax credits’ that they destroyed the economy and created the infantilised client state we are left with.

Margritte · 28/03/2024 02:17

For me - and actually should be got everyone - the only real issue at the next GE is freedom of speech/women's rights

To say this, then suggest voting Tory 'for women's rights and freedom of speech,' is absolutely laughable.

I don't believe anyone (real) can hold such a ridiculous POV, frankly.

I'm in a GC group and several of the women in it who are left wing are saying they will vote Tory at the next GE as, for them, this is the biggest issue.

I can see the reasoning, but I will continue to vote Labour (or possibly LibDem as a tactical vote where I live).

I hate the fact that Labour are putting women's rights at risk but I am not prepared to vote Tory. They have ruined this country.

3tumsnot1 · 28/03/2024 05:26

Why do you care what her language is like, this country has gone to shite under the tories. All services have been completely starved, that’s our schools, our nhs, our dentists, our local authorities, everything that as a parent of three children I rely on.

i am literally stunned that you can make this the basis of your argument, that she used poor language. If you can’t be bothered to reserch and see what’ going on in this country and the absolute disastrous effect it’s having on families ( whilst let’s be frank - lining the pockets of their pals with our money through bent fucking deals ) Don’t fucking vote. You don’t deserve a say.

SweetFemaleAttitude · 28/03/2024 05:27

I will vote Tory over my dead body.

They couldn't give a shit about women. What makes you think that a bunch of rich bullingdon boy, etonions, suddenly think women are important?

They've latched on to this as they've seen it as a way to gain some votes.

They have ran this country into the ground for years with policies that fuck women, children and working class families over, whilst retaining their vast wealth and being totally unaffected.

You're delulu if you think they are the party for women.

Yes let’s go back and refer to something that happened 20 years ago? Seriously?…. Your right if they get back in, they’ll find him, dust in down and put him back in office ? FFS I cannot believe what I’m reading…

speakingofart · 28/03/2024 05:31

No, I just can't do it. I absolutely need the government to know what a woman is - but I can't ever, ever, vote for the criminals who put us through lockdown and so comprehensively screwed our young people.

I don't need a lie-down thanks.

I think we can all agree that politics is broken. It just fiddles around the edges and ends up with legacy shite whichever party is in power.

PFI, widening participation at HE, Tax Credits, yey, all sound brilliant, I think we can all see the bollockry that has come as a result.

It's more of the same. Which is why we have non-functioning health system, a non-functioning education system,.

It's not one party or 'tother. It's an adversarial two party system that's fucked.

Labour isn't going to make it better because they're part of the same shitty system.

Absolutely agree lockdowns were disgusting and are massively responsible for a lot of the crap in this country now, but I assume Labour would have done the same thing?

Bohemond23 · 28/03/2024 05:46

I am a Conservative voter and a GC feminist. I am categorically NOT voting Tory at the next general election.

tara66 · 28/03/2024 05:47

I will NOT vote Tory because they have failed to reform leasehold property ownership - Labour has said they will reform it - eg cancel ground rent etc.

StarlightLady · 28/03/2024 05:52

I can see why you did not enable voting with a question like this.
