To want every women in England to vote Tory at the GR

1000 replies

Hurrydash · 28/03/2024 02:01

So I don't agree with Angela Rayner's description of the Tories as scum, but I get her drift and if she'd been more tempered in her language I probably would have bought in.

HOWEVER

For me - and actually should be got everyone - the only real issue at the next GE is freedom of speech/women's rights.

I see Labour as the destroyer of these and so must vote against them. The only meaningful way to do this is to vote Tory which I am reluctant but prepared to do.

Is this unreasonable?

Happy to be convinced - for real not just words - if there is evidence Labour (Starmer 1 in 1000 women have a dick) may see the light before the GE.

No, I will not vote for the Tory liars.

Zonder · 28/03/2024 06:20

Another one here who is amazed the Tories have the reputation of protecting women's rights. Just how?

I'm really optimistic about a labour government for all our rights, given the things I've read and heard from them so far. Far from perfect but not as corrosive as the current shit show.

Newnamedillydally · 28/03/2024 06:20

The problem is I don’t think either party are capable!

Motherofacertainage · 28/03/2024 06:21

Just no.

NotAgainWilson · 28/03/2024 06:23

When people don’t have money to put food on their tables and are threatened by eviction for not being able to keep with the mortgage payments, they have no time to care that Jimmy want to call himself Joannie.

Besides, it is not like the Tories are doing anything about defending the rights of women apart of the odd remark. The OP’s initial post reminds me so much of woman in America, who will vote to put a serial rapist back in the White House just because he doesn’t consider transgender women as women.

TheresGinInThis · 28/03/2024 06:23

The Tories will say what a woman is because it appeals to the far right. Nothing more, nothing less. If they are voted in because they know what a woman is they will quickly demonstrate how little they care about women as they become more far right. With concerns about Trump being re-elected in the US and our close relationship with the US, do you want to see a reversal on abortion here? Is that pro woman?

The Tories don’t give a flying fuck about women now. They have decimated public services most predominantly health and education. Areas with large amounts of women employed. They have cut maternity services to the bone. I gave birth in 2021, I was induced and told it was a 50 hour wait for delivery when I was already contracting and asking for pain relief. I had a 14 hr wait for some painkillers after giving birth because the midwives were so busy. This was at a large teaching hospital, god knows what the smaller ones are like.

Look at how the Tories fucked over the care industry during the pandemic. Again, a mostly female profession. Their underfunded childcare plans are causing nurseries to go bust. Who, 98% of the time, ends up quitting their job or going unpaid so they can look after the children because they earn less? Or who is not going back to work because their wage doesn’t cover the cost of childcare?Women. Look at how women had to hear devastating news about their pregnancies alone during the pandemic while the Tories did whatever the fuck they wanted. Anecdotally, I know of two women who had a stillbirth and NICU death last year. Maybe those baby loses would have happened if maternity services were properly funded but i wouldn’t be surprised if the data starts to show more of these tragedies as a result of underfunding.

Now, look at the education system. Again, when a child is struggling in main stream, who is it in the family that leaves the workplace to homeschool or goes and works nights? The woman. Who is it that usually leaves their employment to become a carer? The woman. What are Tories going to do to the welfare budget? Slash it, driving even more carers (predominantly women) into abject and lifelong poverty. Women’s health has never been taken seriously, with a crumbling NHS, what do you think will happen to the health of millions of women? It’ll be sidelined.

As inequality rises, women suffer. It infiltrates just about every area and in every way - health, education, employment, poverty, abuse. If you vote the far right in, the far right voice will get louder. Victim blaming will become more rampant. Violence against women and girls will rise because the far right hate women and girls. If you care about women’s rights, a man saying he’s a woman and entering women’s spaces is the smoke-screen so you don’t see how utterly fucked women are.

I’m not a labour voter by the way. I’m politically homeless and really struggling with who to vote for. I’m also not saying TWAW but I am saying you’re gullible if you think the Tories give a shit about women just because they say (not necessarily believe) TWAM.

babyproblems · 28/03/2024 06:24

I disagree with literally everything you’ve said. I will never vote Conservative.. I do not understand why people do. It’s a big YABU from me!!!

I agree with all of this. You are a bit deluded op if you can’t see how all of this is so damaging to women

ArrestHer · 28/03/2024 06:29

Just adding that under the tories in the last 13 years (is that right, brain fail) the wealth inequality gap has exploded. My view is this is fuelling so much of what we are seeing in terms of tribalism.

people with nothing, and no prospect of escape, lose motivation and aspiration. I don’t blame them, if you’re forced into a position where no matter what you do your situation will never improve, and is likely to only get worse, it’s seriously damaging. So we have large numbers of people hitting the point of despair because perfectly normal jobs doing things the country needs people to do, are no longer enough to keep you comfortable in large areas of our nation. It’s criminal.

Exactly tories have screwed woman over and over!

Moonshine5 · 28/03/2024 06:32

😂 what were you drinking OP

MeMyselfAndMyEye · 28/03/2024 06:32

YABU.. women's rights were eroded under the leadership of the Conservative Party.

Also eroded.... Surestart Centres, availability of Health Visitors, health outcomes, funding for schools, benefits (2 child rule and cap on child henefit), affordable housing etc etc.

Coupled with a massive increase in child poverty.

The Conservatives don't give a crap about anyone except themselves and their rich friends.

RomansTheyGoTheHouse · 28/03/2024 06:33

It'll be a cold day in hell before I use my vote to try and get this lot back in after the next GE.

A bunch of greasy fingered self serving corrupt buggers I have never seen. These aren't even Tories, they're something else with a blue rosette.

Lou7171 · 28/03/2024 06:34

Coincidentally · 28/03/2024 05:20

YANBU but you are wasting you time posting here - people want to deny reality and believe that Labour can wave a magic wand and spend spend spend - even though Gordon Brown was so economically inept he sold off gold reserves and fo cynical that he created the ‘entitlement’ to ‘tax credits’ that they destroyed the economy and created the infantilised client state we are left with.

Utter rubbish. You really don't know what you're talking about.

Aphotoaday · 28/03/2024 06:34

The same Tories who introduced the ‘rape clause’?

April Fool’s day is on Monday.

Lex345 · 28/03/2024 06:34

YANBU to want to vote for the party you think represent your priorities.

YABVVU if you think the Tories give a shit about women's rights when they havn't even managed to keep the HoC a safe space from sexism and misogyny. Little hope they could address it for the whole country.

Women as a collective really should be very angry about women's rights and protection generally though. DV figures, sex crime prosecution conviction rates, prevalence of sexual violence and harassment, women's safety, maternity care, gender pay gap, rampant gender discrimination in the workplace, accepted misogynistic societal norms-I can't disagree these are all issues we should be demanding to be addressed.

But the Tories won't be the ones to do it.

IClaudine · 28/03/2024 06:34

Is this a wind up?

Everyone else has already said why YABU so I won't bother.

I note you weren't brave enough to put a poll on.

This Tory government is scum, btw. Ange got that right.

OnHerSolidFoundations · 28/03/2024 06:35

NO ONE should vote Tory. Ever.

OnHerSolidFoundations · 28/03/2024 06:36

Angela is right 🌹🌹🌹

Pixit · 28/03/2024 02:11

You want another five years of ... THIS ??! <\gestures wildly at everything> No. Fuck off.

Agree!

jeez. I was wondering who the 20pc were who could possibly still support this vile govt!

Rovinonmars · 28/03/2024 06:38

Absolutely not!

OnHerSolidFoundations · 28/03/2024 06:38

silverneedle · 28/03/2024 02:54

Huge inequality generally, decimated public services, inflated housing market, big rise in child poverty and much less financial support for disabled pre 2010 means I will not vote Tory. Increasing awareness of risks of self ID across all parties too.

Edited

This 💯

To say this, then suggest voting Tory 'for women's rights and freedom of speech,' is absolutely laughable.

I don't believe anyone (real) can hold such a ridiculous POV, frankly.

This.
OP at the very least you must have heard about Tories’ crackdown on public protesting. How does this support freedom of speech???!!!

JennyForeigner · 28/03/2024 06:40

Either this is your idea of amusing yourself or you must be a complete mug. What a number they have done on you to be able to fuck things up so entirely and then demand that you keep paying out for it because they've had a deathbed conversion to the way the world is going anyway.

IClaudine · 28/03/2024 06:43

I think OP may have a hangover when she wakes up.
