They're 45 quid. It's a water bottle. I just don't get it.

I've been using a battered Evian bottle for months now 😆

I have a few Stanley products but not these because I don’t do hype. The flasks and food flasks are good and well worth it but cup wise I use chillys. A bottle for water and a mug for coffee.

Same here - the old-style red metal food flasks with the fold up spoon are brilliant and have lasted 20years so far. Also love my chilly bottles, the smaller of which goes nicely in my handbag and the bigger one in the car drinks holder

Is the Stanley cup leak-proof is can you throw it in a bag? That is essential imo. I hate that it looks like a playmobil accessory though

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 26/03/2024 22:54

They are for YouTubers who do things like put make up on or do their hair while talking to the camera and have recently developed specific hand gestures to help make whatever fascinating point they are making seem important.

tempnameforadvice · 26/03/2024 22:55

I went to a baby group today with 6 other mums. They all had one. Mine was £2 from primark and does the same job. Absolute madness!!

So many kids at the primary I teach in are coming in with these very silly air up bottles. Talk about gimmick!!

I’ve seen adults with them too! Honestly.

I have to say that mine is the best water bottle I've ever had, I didn't pay £45 for it though.

What points of reference do you use to determine how it’s ’the Best water bottle you’ve ever had’?

TeenLifeMum · 26/03/2024 22:56

They’re so ugly and too big for my car’s cup holders. I have a cup with a straw. I also drink water with meals or when doing sport then tea in between but don’t understand the need to constantly carry water with you - in England it’s not like the Sahara.

Be careful how long you use it for. Apparently the expiry date on bottled water is not the use by date of the water, it's the use by date of the plastic in the bottle.

I have one. Left to my own devices I’ll go a whole day without drinking anything. DH (who bought it for me in despair at my constant dehydration) plonks the Stanley cup full of water next to me in the morning and by the end of the day I find I’ve drunk the full 1.2L.

Nobody who eats a normal diet will get dehydrated by not drinking litres of water!

Soontobe60 · 26/03/2024 22:59

Chipsweep · 26/03/2024 22:50

No, he was previously bringing me a normal glass and obviously being much smaller I was drinking less. The size that everyone is mocking is the whole point he bought it. Plus I was leaving a normal cup behind if I was moving around with my laptop, as I often go between the desk and kitchen table, but you don’t need a free hand to carry the Stanley cup, only a finger!

😂😂😂😂

justasking111 · 26/03/2024 23:00

The biggest con since the "PET ROCK" For children.

We've a shelf in a kitchen cupboard, with chillis, etc. the latest Chameau one is still in its box. From Xmas.

All unused gifts.

I agree , I have had a Stanley food flask for about two years it's great.
Tbh I thought it was made by the same people that make the knives and tools , is it not ?

Genuinely, why? I mean, all I need for a water bottle is for it not to leak. So beyond that I really couldn't rank any water bottle as better than any other. What makes it the best?

The thing I think when I see a Stanley cup is that it would be too heavy (when full of water) to carry in my bag. So I guess I would rank it below a smaller bottle.

grinandslothit · 26/03/2024 23:05

Another ridiculous trend that people waste money on and will be forgotten about in a couple months

mdinbc · 26/03/2024 23:11

Haha, yes the Stanley Cup is a hockey trophy.

And I agree there is a ridiculous hype over a drinking cup that doesn't even seal. A lot of kids and young women here have Yeti, another overpriced brand.

Yeah, that bugs me. In one office I used to sit opposite a man who drank water from a flask all the way though the day. What on earth for? If you’re not thirsty you don’t need to drink water. You get enough water from food and hot drinks.

lemmein · 26/03/2024 23:19

Yeah, I don't get it either - they're too big!

Though I did spend a silly amount of money for a Chillys water bottle for my DD when I suppose a £3 one from Tesco would be just as effective so I'm not adverse to buying into the latest trends for gifts. I wouldn't buy them for myself though.

But couldn't you have got a big water bottle for like a tenner?

Unless I’m hiking on a hot day I literally won’t drink anything unless prompted. No water, no tea, literally no fluids. As a child my parents took me to the doctor because they thought there was something wrong with my kidneys but I just don’t process thirst, I’m like why am I struggling to function and have a splitting headache, such a mystery 🤔 So yeah it’s pretty easy to get dehydrated actually.

TTPD · 26/03/2024 23:26

Was he also drinking hot drinks? I don't have a Stanley cup, but I do drink water regularly throughout the day. I don't drink anything else though - I don't like tea or coffee, and don't drink fizzy drinks or juices. I don't have a target amount to drink, I don't measure it, and I don't constantly have the bottle in my mouth sucking away. But I am frequently drinking. But in quantity it's probably not more liquid than a reasonably keen tea or coffee drinker would consume, and no one thinks that's weird.

But you could choose to drink normally...

Probably but this one is insulated and has a handle which is handy, plus all of the parts are dishwasher safe - it wouldn’t get used if any of it needed hand washing, and most of the other insulated cups I’ve seen need hand washing. I guess you could ask that about anything? Why buy branded trainers when you can get cheap knock offs from the market? Why buy a handbag when a tesco carrier bag will do the job?

You have no idea what you’re talking about. You do you and let others drink water without judgement.

I could also choose to do a backflip every five minutes, but at this point in my life it’s pretty clear I’m not capable of either of those things!

People on this thread acting like refilling a small cup is somehow morally superior to having a bigger cup 😂
