To not get the Stanley Cup thing

They're 45 quid. It's a water bottle. I just don't get it.

I have bought myself one (I only paid £20, though) because my SIL promises me that it keeps drinks with ice in cold for ages, and I want ice cold water available in the summer.

Ds3 also told me an anecdote about one that was retrieved from the remains after a car fire, and still had ice in it - that may be apocryphal, though.

It’s due to the car fire (and the CEO’s response to it) that their popularity has soared.

@Chipsweep
There's no need for your link, maybe if you'd mentioned you had adhd before allowing lots of comments, then reporting my comment is petty.
I have a DC with asperger's I don't need your attempt at 'educating'

They did mention it a few hours before you made your comment. Try reading the whole thread before being rude next time.

Turn water into wine…the Jesus Bottle! I think we have a new, winning concept.

It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work. We could call it homeopathic wine - so dilute you can’t taste the wine, but very powerful for all that. After all, endlessly glugging water has no health benefit and people by the million have been taken in by that.

There are health benefits to drinking a lot of water, in my experience. I almost never get a headache, for example.

Chipsweep · 27/03/2024 14:09

@Kelly51 i didn’t report your comment.

thecanadianloon · 27/03/2024 15:43

I never feel thirsty. I do get dehydrated which results in orange pee and heart palpitations 😬. But you could give me a 24ct gold cup and I still wouldn't drink! My Gp did tell me i'm a fucking idiot (well those weren't her exact words!) but I just don't feel thirsty. I don't think any gimmicky cups/ bottles / flasks would make any difference to me. I dunno humans are well weird.

No, they haven’t. It’s called the Stanley Quencher Tumbler.

Tumbler, like a toddler might have?

pictoosh · 27/03/2024 17:37

MumblesParty · 27/03/2024 10:51

OK so I see that poster has ADHD.
Anyway, this isn’t what the thread is about.
It does seem strange that many people can’t drink enough if they only have a cheap cup, but if they have an expensive flask endorsed by influencers, then suddenly the problem is solved.

Edited

I agree with you (no idea what you wrote that was deleted though).

People really will copy anything. The Stanley cup is a great example of this. It's an ugly, needless thing but no one cares. It's fashionable.

WildRosesForCathy · 27/03/2024 17:40

@Zyq @MrsMitford3 @MumblesParty @Gettingonmygoat @Changeusernameseeusernamehistory

I posted the reasons why I like my Stanley cups so much earlier in the thread. The short version is I'm really picky about things that go in my mouth.

I reported your comment. It was both a personal attack and ableist, and deleted accordingly.

No, like anyone might have given it's just a name for something you drink out of.

A tumbler to me is those plastic tall cups we had in the 70s.

that's nice.

It also covers the reusable, steel lined coffee drinking vessels, they're also called tumblers.

It's also the name of a particular type of glass.

Keep your ableist prejudice to yourself

How the fuck is what I call a certain drinking vessel ableist?

I could also choose to do a backflip every five minutes, but at this point in my life it’s pretty clear I’m not capable of either of those things!

People on this thread acting like refilling a small cup is somehow morally superior to having a bigger cup 😂

Whereas you seem to be unable to get your own drink of water. How did you manage to survive without a Stanley cup or a husband?

Ah. Someone else incapable of reading a whole thread. 🙄

I’m more than capable of reading the whole thread. Are you now being insulting to people who comment on posts as they read the thread rather than wait until they’ve read everything then forget who said something they want to comment on; you know, like someone with working memory disorder?
Personally, I find it infuriating when someone on threads drip feed.
Each to their own.

Kelly51 · 27/03/2024 21:11

@Begsthequestion
Hardly ableist when PP had failed to yet drip feed she had adhd when I commented, life must be very boring when you're trawling threads looking to be offended.

CJsGoldfish · 27/03/2024 22:24

Meh, I have a drink bottle that cost as much as a Stanley so I can see why someone would spend such an amount 🤷‍♀️
I don't do single use plastics. I've probably spent waaaaay more over the years replacing kids drink bottles and my drink bottles. I've had mine for about 5 years and I take it everywhere. Yes, to one snipey little poster, even if I'm only out for half an hour 😝
It is really well made, completely leak proof and it keeps my water ice cold all day. I drink a lot of water but I like it really cold. I only drink water so having a drink bottle ensures I do. Without it, I don't. Psychological? Sure. Do I care? Nope.

I can honestly say I've never ever thought about someone elses water drinking habits. What makes others so obsessed and judgy about them? Maybe drink more water? 😂

Here's a tip: type your comments but don't hit "post". Then you can delete them when you realise they are irrelevant.

It's hardly a "drip feed" when it wasn't what the thread was about. I have no idea why people thought the thread was about being nasty to that poster and not about an expensive water bottle. Each to their own though. 🙄
