If your DH is a white collar worker, do you ever fantasise about blue collar workers?

My first DH was a white collar worker. High up in finance. Never had a fight in his life. Short and skinny. Unable to really be a guys guy or have any banter with other men. If we had ever been stuck in a dangerous situation, we would have no doubt died 😂 I never felt physically safe with him. When I was with him, I definitely found myself fancying more manly men, like builders, mechanics, police officers, boxers etc, you get the drift, and I was wondering whether I’m unusual in that?

For the MORTALLY OFFENDED AT EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME - this is light hearted. Are we really needing a trigger warning for everything these days? Fuck me.

I totally get this. I don't fancy 'clean' men. We had a really good looking colleague at work, all the ladies had a crush on him (female dominated workplace) but he was just too well groomed for me.
DH is a lorry driver now, used to be a gardener. I loved it when he came home all dirty and smelling of bonfires. He looked especially hot in overalls or holding a strimmer. When he does any work on the cars at home, with oily overalls and dirty hands..mmm, yum! Would be useless in a fight though and is terrible at 'banter'. He watches space documentaries rather than sports.

I also now fancy @DumpsterBaby 's DH.

God yeah!

If nothing else the DIY skills.

Have slavered over a few workmen in my time!

Okonimiyaki · 22/03/2024 20:35

If all of you are queuing up for @DumpsterBaby's DH and the manly men, can I have the skinny, super clean ones without the broad chests please? Preferably in suits😁

Ellieonthebeach · 22/03/2024 20:37

I am only attracted to tradesmen types. Never been with anyone who works in an office.

It must be because I've got a real thing for men who can do DIY. You can't help what you like can you 🤷‍♀️

ScubaDivingSpiderMonkey · 22/03/2024 20:41

I like them swarthy and a bit rugged. No one too thin. Which isn't a diss to thin men as they have lots of fans too!

I'm also sending a wink to @DumpsterBaby's husband.

DutchCowgirl · 22/03/2024 20:42

I really like a man who has excellent driving skills and knows directions. My dh once saved us when we were driving at night on the motorway and a large piece of black (agricultural) plastic blew over the road and covered our complete windscreen.. so beautiful to watch him stay cool and park the car on the emergency lane while not seeing a thing.
(He is white collar, but also an engineer and a marathon-runner , best of many worlds!)

My Nanna used to talk about swarthy men and I’ve never heard that word in years!!! DH is very swarthy as well 😂

the mortally offended are so not in keeping with the Friday evening spirit.

But it feels like the law that every MN thread has to have at least two mortally offended people on it at any given time.

Zzzzz

Lampslights · 22/03/2024 20:44

It’s not really blue/white collar related op,I work in a very corporate enviroment, and just like th4 women, there is every different physique there. You just happened to marry a puny one. It wasn’t related to his job.

neither was the fact he was an absolute arse.

Me too, a good set of forearms are hard to beat. I once dated a fisherman and his were just heavenly. And from hard work not the gym....total fannygallops

It’s totally the forearms!!!!

Pebbles16 · 22/03/2024 20:46

Have I accidentally stepped into the '70s or '80s? This thread is vile

I feel like all of you lovely ladies are going to help me get laid tonight. 😂

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 22/03/2024 20:47

Nope! My DH has been a police officer and now works in HR. I’ve fancied him equally in both roles. He stands up for me when it counts but I would say his less aggressive approach to life actually keeps us safer. He’s also not short and skinny. He’s 6ft and broad. I’m perfectly happy with my lot.

You're massively generalising what men are like based on their jobs and it's actually quite insulting. Could you imagine if the same logic was applied to women?

Yes, you’re right. There is no stereotyping of women around sex. Just imagine if men fantasised about nurses, or dancers or the likes! That would never happen 🙄

Because no man has ever fantasised about a ‘naughty nurse’ have they…. 🙄

caringcarer · 22/03/2024 21:10

No, I find intelligence incredibly sexy but I do sometimes envy my sister who's DH is not only so good but also so keen on DIY. All her jobs get done to perfection really quickly. My DH can do the jobs but he's an accountant data analyst great with a data model or coding but very slow and very reluctant on DIY jobs.

I didn’t say they weren’t objectified by women, I said they weren’t regularly objectified by women and society. I’ll assume you’re a bright woman who can understand the difference.

Can women not have a chat about attributes they find physically attractive? There are, after all, a large range of attributes mentioned on this thread and acknowledged its personal preference.

I saw this on twitter and think this guy gives a good perspective on why you can’t necessarily just switch the sexes in a situation to make a fair comparison
