I am not voting for Labour or Con…

What party can I vote for that may have a chance? I do not want to waste a vote but may have to. As a young(ish) Black woman, none of the above present me. I was born here as were my parents. Originally from East Africa. Spent a lot of holidays there as a child but not so much as an adult, otherwise I would seriously think of going back to live there.

I have always voted Labour but they are disappointing. For the first time, I am thinking of not voting but it does not sit right within me.

I might try the Green Party I guess.

If you want to get rid of this terrible government vote Labour, unless you live in a constituency where Lib Dem or Green are likely to win then vote for them. But if you vote anything other than Labour in straight Conservative/Labour Constituency you will be wasting your vote .

I will be voting Tory. It will be a wasted vote otherwise. Yes they haven’t been great but Labour will be so much worse.

Some mps in the Labour Party appear to be in support of the gender ideology cult which means a higher chance of children being indoctrinated and exposed to gender woo at school and I worry about the harm this could cause.

Defence spending is important to me given what is going on in the world at the moment and although the tories haven’t been great I think Labour will be even worse. They will also be worse on border security, letting in even more people who are not in genuine need of asylum and just seeking to exploit the system for financial gain. There isn’t enough housing for 700k plus newcomers to the Uk as it is.

Labour would be worse? Are you serious? Have to seen the state we are in?

@MobileStationery I have read it. Scaremongering, racist bollocks.

Which bits?

Please link to them, i must have missed those sections

There isn’t a leader among them. “They’re not the tories” isn’t a good enough reason to vote labour.

and labour need to do something to bring in voters. Because if the tories do win then it will be because labour aren’t considered voteworthy enough.

Sorry but yes it is,if it's the only way to get rid of the Tories.

But what about their policies on women? Is that not also really dangerous?

I suggest you read the manifesto.

ntmdino · 14/03/2024 13:28

Well, it's pretty simple - one of Labour or Conservative will win.

The only question you need to ask yourself is whether you want a say in which. Sad as it is, it's an absolute fact that if you vote for anyone other than Labour, you're choosing the current situation as the best option.

Whatever happens, though politicians will win. In terms of ideal situations that's already pretty shit...but the only part any of us have to play is in deciding the depth.

MrsTWH · 14/03/2024 13:28

I normally vote Labour. This time, I am so desperate to get the Tories out I’m voting tactically for Lib Dem as they are the ones closest in my constituency to ousting the awful Tory dinosaur who’s held this seat for about a million years.

I would check the results of your constituency’s last general election and vote for the next closest party!

MimiHendrix · 14/03/2024 13:29

Not sure what to tell you, OP. It’s slim pickings.

I will probably vote Labour based on wanting the Tories out and my local Labour candidate being a decent woman. I’ve always voted Labour, but in all honesty I don’t know if they represent me anymore either. All the not knowing what a woman is shite and a very underwhelming leader and shadow cabinet.

I would never vote Tory. I find 99% of their policies, as well as their overarching ideology, abhorrent.

I have no idea what the Lib Dem’s stand for and I don’t believe they do, either.

Reform can fuck right off - bunch of nasty white guys with far right tendencies as far as I can see.

And the Greens? Gee whizz. Fruit loops and totally captured by gender bollocks and beardy blokes who like to shout women down. Fuck em.

ilovesooty · 14/03/2024 13:45

I asked a perfectly reasonable question about how the Reform party would benefit the lives of women.

If anyone wishes to view that enquiry as "spoiling for a fight" that's their issue.

Eleganz · 14/03/2024 13:50

What were the results like in your constituency? How realistic is a swing to the greens there? If you live in a Con/Lab contested seat then by voting Green you are effectively voting Tory as that is one less Labour vote and that is how First Past The Post works. So, are you happy for that to be the outcome?

Of course if you are in a constituency where the greens have a good chance then do vote for them otherwise it is tactical voting all the way I'm afraid.

VenetiaHallisWellPosh · 14/03/2024 14:05

Locally the Labour party have a MASSIVE majority followed by the Lib Dem's. The Tories come nowhere in my constituency. So my MP will be the same, regardless.

I haven't voted Labour (when I think I really should) for years. I either vote for a fringe party or spoil my vote. I'm note voting Reform, they are a long way from my values. Lib Dem used to be ok, and Greens, until they forgot what women are.

FPTP has a lot to answer for in my view. You have to vote tactically to get a crap MP out? How is that democracy?

Pieceofpurplesky · 14/03/2024 14:05

Ah yes, the very honest Mr Jenrick who was fired from the Tory party for being dishonest?

If you read the article the man was arrested for assault and an altercation. More scaremongering.

ilovesooty · 14/03/2024 14:07

I'm sure Reform would welcome Jenrick with open arms.

If you are concerned about defence spending then have a look at what each of the two major parties has done on that in the past 35 years and you will see that the Tories have been behind all the reviews that led to cuts. Shapps went to Sunak last month to ask for £4 billion (which is peanuts) and was told no.

MobileStationery · 14/03/2024 14:16

Scaremongering is now pointing to a thing that happened.

No wonder the countries in a mess.
People too busy trying to 'win' online and have the last word to feel like Billy big bollocks for a minute.

"This never happens"
"Here's that thing happening..."
"That doesn't count..."

🤣

Should remember that online people can't be swayed, confirmation bias is all that counts.

Pieceofpurplesky · 14/03/2024 14:29

Not trying to win - just amazed anyone can be so politically naïve ...

CheapThrillsMeanNothing · 14/03/2024 14:33

The Tory bots out force on this thread... 'there's no difference' and 'Labour won't be any better'.
How could Labour be any worse? They might have more integrity for a start. They might not crash the economy or they might invest in public services instead of cutting them as the Tories would do if they were fortunate to wish the next election.

Not a Tory bot, thanks. They don’t deserve any more time in office either. Just not everyone thinks Labour will be able to solve anything. And they’ll make some other things worse. And it will cost us all more in tax for the pleasure.

Several people on this thread apparently.

Personally, I'm all for it. Reform dilutes the right-wing vote in the same way that voting Green/SNP/etc dilutes the left-wing vote.

Ridiculous as it sounds, Reform's existence actually levels the playing field a bit and makes it more likely that Labour will win.
