What party can I vote for that may have a chance? I do not want to waste a vote but may have to. As a young(ish) Black woman, none of the above present me. I was born here as were my parents. Originally from East Africa. Spent a lot of holidays there as a child but not so much as an adult, otherwise I would seriously think of going back to live there.

I have always voted Labour but they are disappointing. For the first time, I am thinking of not voting but it does not sit right within me.

I might try the Green Party I guess.

I’ll be voting Reform. They are the only party who have come up with some actual ideas of how they would approach getting the NHS waiting lists down & simultaneously improve pay for staff. They also appear to have the countries best interests at heart rather than just mudslinging other parties 🤷‍♀️

Where are they going to find the money to exempt all healthcare front line staff earning less than £50k from income tax? Do you have any concept of what that would cost? Pie in the bloody sky.

Alwaysdieting · 14/03/2024 15:11

I dont know who to vote for either. I want to vote because of the suffragettes but there is only those 2 who have any chance of getting in. Perhaps the Raving loony party. Not Lib Dem or the Green party. Its so annoying. They are all useless. Has it ever been this bad before?.

Chatonette · 14/03/2024 15:17

It’s a tough one. I don’t really align with Labour, and I wouldn’t have been able to look myself in the mirror had I voted to put BoJo in No 10. So I voted Lib Dem. Our boundaries in my county have recently changed and I’ve been bumped over to a constituency who actually has a really good Tory MP. He’s really involved and I’ve been to public meetings where he has addressed issues I care about and has been working hard for his constituents. Now that I’m in his constituency, I think I’ll vote for him. I told my husband I liked the MP but not necessarily the party, but he reminded me that Labour will probably take the majority and it’s good to have a strong opposition.

I would never base my voting preferences at a GE on my local representative's. They have to do what their party asks or they cease to be in that party. Much better to vote for the manifesto that aligns closest to what you want for the country, than to pin all hopes on a nice chap or chapess.

Not a Tory bot, thanks. They don’t deserve any more time in office either. Just not everyone thinks Labour will be able to solve anything. And they’ll make some other things worse. And it will cost us all more in tax for the pleasure.

Tories have done a pretty good job of increasing taxes for ordinary people from Thatcher onwards, just vaguely saying a Labour government would cost us more in tax is delusional bollocks that's so far out of line with what actually happens that it won't wash any more.
About the only thing the Tories have been effective at is pretending to one thing ("tax cutting") whilst doing the opposite and getting the gullible to ignore it.

Several people on this thread apparently.

A lot more than that. I believe they’ve already overtaken the Lib Dem’s. No apparently about it! You might not like it but I don’t like Cons or Labour.

Hopefully the reform vote will be large enough to get rid of enough Tories that they don't win the GE.

Motomum23 · 14/03/2024 16:27

I'm going reform or an independent. Don't trust the big parties anymore.

It will depend on where the votes are cast - most likely they will be most popular in Tory areas like UKIP in 2015 when they got 12.6% of votes (third after Tory and Labour) but only retained one seat in parliament.

BIossomtoes · 14/03/2024 16:36

UKIP only ever won seats in by elections where erstwhile Tory MPs defected. I can’t see Reform ever winning any in a GE either. They’re useful idiots in splitting the Tory vote though.

Jovacknockowitch · 14/03/2024 16:41

It’s instructive that UKIP came third in the popular vote and got 12.6% but only got a single seat - whatever you think of them, it shows how a significant minority can be denied representation by our shit system.
I reckon if UKIP had been admitted to parliament they may well have been shown up for what they are and averted the referendum entirely.

TooBigForMyBoots · 14/03/2024 22:36

Please vote @EddyF.

Find a smaller party or local Independent candidate that mostly fits your ideas and beliefs. Even if they don't win, your vote may help get your voice heard and their deposit back.Grin

Voter apathy only benefits the status quo and the UK needs change.

Runningwildish · 14/03/2024 23:09

Vote for the candidate not the party

Screamingabdabz · 14/03/2024 23:27

Which party will defend and support the safety and rights of girls and women? That’s who I will vote for.

Pieceofpurplesky · 14/03/2024 23:38

Well @Screamingabdabz the Tory part and their policies have slapped me down with their policies - so I hope you don't mean them! The implementation of many of their policies have disproportionately impacted women

ThisQuickFinch · 14/03/2024 23:52

I am a Labour MP. I will be voting Reform.

DragonFly98 · 14/03/2024 23:54

So you are voting for conservative then. Labour are not perfect but you have to think of the least worse option. No other party will win.

Runningwildish · 14/03/2024 23:55

There's a theme of vote Labour, women's rights to dignity, privacy, safety and fairness are less important than anything else. Just vote Labour. Yeah , don't like what they are selling. If that's the Labour stance now , goddess knows what shit they'll serve up to women and girls if they get in.

Why are you a Labour MP when you believe in Reform?Confused

Surely you can just go over now?

So you are a Labour MP and your husband is a boat?🙈

Yup, and both enthusiastic Reform supporters.

Diamondcurtains · 15/03/2024 00:20

I haven’t decided yet but I won’t be voting Conservative or Labour.

jcyclops · 15/03/2024 00:51

I used to live in one of the rare 3-way marginals and I always voted as I felt my vote counted. Since I could first vote, the constituency has returned an MP from all 3 of those parties. I haven't moved house, but due to boundary changes introduced before the 2010 election I now live in one of the safest Labour seats in the country. I vote in all council elections and voted in the 2011 and 2016 referendums, but I can't be bothered to vote in general elections as it is a total waste of time.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 14/03/2024 09:18

You must be crazy. Vile, nasty, racist, rabidly right wing, and full of rich men pretending to be working class. Ugh!

I'll be voting for Reform UK too. The UK is in a terrible way and law and order is in decline. We need new ideas and a party who can move us forward and grow the economy.
