I am not voting for Labour or Con…

What party can I vote for that may have a chance? I do not want to waste a vote but may have to. As a young(ish) Black woman, none of the above present me. I was born here as were my parents. Originally from East Africa. Spent a lot of holidays there as a child but not so much as an adult, otherwise I would seriously think of going back to live there.

I have always voted Labour but they are disappointing. For the first time, I am thinking of not voting but it does not sit right within me.

I might try the Green Party I guess.

what do reform say about women's rights?

Spinet · 14/03/2024 10:11

MojoMoon · 14/03/2024 09:45

Reform clearly spending all of Paul Marshall's money on social media astroturfing.

(Bring on the "how dare you say that, blah blah, elites, representing the true British people, all totally genuine, what do you mean racist billionaires party" comments)

God I hope you're right and this country isn't about to vote in favour of xenophobia and economic extinction AGAIN. Once can be forgiven...

I'm a woman of colour- will be voting Reform. Hate Tories ( used to vote for them in the past) and Labour doesn't represent my interests at all. It will be Reform for me

One of Reform's policies is zero waiting lists - do you really believe that?

Holliegee · 14/03/2024 10:19

Studies show that Tory voters always vote.
Their votes are literally guaranteed.
The absolute only way to change anything is to vote for the opposition, they have had many years of seeing what the public don’t want and how the Tories have made huge mistakes (imo).
To vote for a party that has no chance of leadership is almost akin to voting Tory.
The absolute massive game changer that could potentially alter everything and let ALL political parties know that we are unhappy with their decisions would be for all the none voters to vote for the opposition and then it would increase the numbers and positively show that people have recognised their right to vote, to challenge the way things are run and in order to maintain the vote the opposition who’d been voted in would have to make decisions swayed by the public and the losing party would have to make huge endeavours to challenge the leadership at the next election.

The way I see it, is that this political party are doing nothing for me and hindering any development so I cannot do anything else other than to vote for labour in the hope that change will come and although it will be slow as they undo the damage already done - it will shake the Tories up and let them see their safety WASNT guaranteed.

Cosycover · 14/03/2024 10:21

Don't bother voting then. Or do us all a favour and vote Labour.

StarDolphins · 14/03/2024 10:23

I feel the same. I don’t like either party. Green Party I think for me.

DrJoanAllenby · 14/03/2024 10:24

Labour and Conservative parties are two cheeks of the same arse nowadays with only the looney lefties being slightly worse than the Tories.

ScierraDoll · 14/03/2024 10:24

Spinet · 14/03/2024 08:27

What is disappointing about Labour?

Pretty much everything.
Starmer u turns according to which way the wind blows, he is clearly not a leader. A Labour gvt will be torn between the hard left and the Blairites and the result will be a mess but there is no alternative

hairbearbunches · 14/03/2024 10:25

@Holliegee The reality is that Labour would crow about having been endorsed on the crappy 'don't scare the horses' policies they've put forward, little will change but all those now in the shadow cabinet will get big jobs from which to start feathering their post parliamentary careers nest. A vote for Labour is a vote for Labour, it is not a vote to say we are not happy with the direction of the country, when Labour aren't proposing to change anything about the direction of the country. It's madness and it's how NOTHING EVER CHANGES.

pilates · 14/03/2024 10:29

I agree op I feel the same.

what do reform say about women's rights?

They can tell the difference between a man and a woman! That actually covers a lot in my opinion. I will be voting for them.

Outofideas79 · 14/03/2024 10:32

In this election, any vote for a party that isn't Labour, is a vote for the Tories. As a youngish single working Mum, nothing the Conservatives stand for is going to help me, or has helped me at all and frankly nothing they stand for is helping this country. Previously I would have voted Lib Dem, but they are a spent force and who know what they actually stand for. So I will hold my nose a vote labour, because I genuinely believe that's the only choice.

Trinity65 · 14/03/2024 10:34

Overthebow · 14/03/2024 08:25

Labour aren’t any better than conservatives. I don’t think I can vote for either party and have no idea who to vote for either.

Same Here

Asiatoyork · 14/03/2024 10:36

Nobody cares that our wages will never support us. So why should I even bother voting?

Younger people have always voted lower as a %. This may have an impact on how much attention you get as a voting block.

Upallnight2 · 14/03/2024 10:45

I'll be voting reform too

CroftonWillow · 14/03/2024 10:46

As a slight aside it always amuses me how people believe a new cabinet in which all the members have zero experience in a role will miraculously do a better job. If you consider the size and depth of the departments and material they need to get a grasp of and the mechanics of government it's completely unrealistic.

Aishah231 · 14/03/2024 10:58

LittleMonks11 · 14/03/2024 08:28

Vote Labour. Only chance of getting this disgusting government out.

But what's the point of we end up with Starmer who is promising more of the same. I will only vote Labour if they actually come out with some clear promises to raise pay etc. otherwise they can fuck off. I'd rather they lost and Starmer was replaced with someone with some principles. And I'm a labour party member!

Livelovebehappy · 14/03/2024 11:04

Neither party represent me. I won’t vote Tory, but Labour are so desperate to get in they’re just telling everyone what they think will get them over the line, with the same predictable nothing to back up how they will pay for this Utopia they are promising. I think there will be a surge in people voting Reform. I live in the North, and many people are leaning towards Reform, a lot of whom used to vote Labour too. I appreciate they might not be the party for you OP, but I do get where you’re coming from. Both Labour and Tory are useless and have nothing to offer anyone apart from the same old, same old false promises.

Is he promising more of the same?

Is he promising to give dodgy PPE contracts to his mates via VIP lane for procurement?
Is he promising to take £10million off a man who wants to kill black women?
Is he planning to have a chancellor who had to pay fines for avoiding tax?
Is he promising a mini budget that crashed the economy?

I mean, I would also prefer a little bit more left wing policy from him but Starmer is not the same as the Tories.

They may have less experience, but one part of my definition of a better job would be in it not being a top priority to enrich all their mates with our money.

BashfulClam · 14/03/2024 11:14

I defo the same and in Scotland I can’t vote SNP or the Greens as they are utter clowns so I’m stuck!

That's why they have civil servants. What you're basically doing here is arguing against change of government generally, and therefore you're arguing against democracy. Which I'm sure our current govt would be happy to do without.

Blackcats7 · 14/03/2024 11:35

All that will achieve will be to help the tories stay in power.
The only way to remove them is to vote labour.
I don’t agree with everything labour currently says but I can’t stick the tories a moment longer and our poor country will be further towards total ruin if we don’t shift this corrupt and incompetent shower very soon.

Jason118 · 14/03/2024 11:47

I want more people to vote Refoam, best way to GTTO.

KnittedCardi · 14/03/2024 11:48

I'm waiting for manifestos..... Sadly these usually show, on balance, I should vote Conservative, as I am Center/center right.... But then perhaps that's where Labour are now. It's tricky, because I don't like the Unions/far left side of Labour.

I had a Lib Dem round the other day. Perfectly nice chap. He wasn't very happy with my questioning on TWW, his response, well setting that aside, who would you vote for? Well no, that is important to me, and some of their MP's, and their leader TBF, are completely bonkers, see also Greens.

My main issue is we have been relocated to a faraway constituency which has no bearing on our area at all. We feel completely disenfranchised and unrepresented.

If a local candidate, residents or similar, stands, I will vote for them.
