To think Center Parcs should be ashamed of this

I think it may have been deleted now, but not before Center Parcs hid or deleted comments pointing out the stereotyping and misogyny of this Facebook post...
One comment I saw said mum's not keeping up because of all the shopping, cooking, washing and organising she had to before the family got to sodding Center Parcs in the first place. And she's riding a shite bike they've given her

To think Center Parcs should be ashamed of this

I choose not to be offended. Non story.

This

Okthen100 · 12/03/2024 16:34

Are people just offended at EVERYTHING these days?

Yes

mydamnfootstuckinthedoor · 12/03/2024 18:31

Why is it mum who is being called out for not keeping up? definitely sexist, unless there is a partner ad about dad not being able to do something or other ... need the whole story

LakeTiticaca · 12/03/2024 18:33

Some people go out of their way to be offended by anything and everything.

What miserable lives they must lead

Lunabetty · 12/03/2024 18:34

🙄

Esgaroth · 12/03/2024 18:36

If either of my children said that to me, I'd absolutely smoke them! 😆

Maybe I'm not doing it right.

museumum · 12/03/2024 18:36

It’s lazy stereotyping that dad is more sporty / fun / active than mum. The photo is great, it’s the caption that’s the boring stereotype.

WaterWeasel · 12/03/2024 18:38

Sexist bollocks - this could be from the 1950s FFS. Well done the idiots in marketing.

puzzledout · 12/03/2024 18:39

Presumably only offensive to people that are doing what it says 50/50 this house, for everything ......so not touched a nerve with me!

Mummame222 · 12/03/2024 18:40

Mums lazy and unfit… not offensive at all 🙄

Revealingall · 12/03/2024 18:40

When I was at Centre Parcs, a 10 year old girl held out her arms to stop (bike) traffic from other kids and sweetly waved me and the other woman I was with across, yelling,

"STOP!!! Old ladies crossing!!!"

It must be something in the air.

I was 28 at the time too.

I mean it's not a great ad in the scheme of things is it?

Agree.

Lighten up. Do you find life difficult in general?

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 12/03/2024 18:41

Poetnojo · 12/03/2024 17:27

I think its saying " keep up Mum" by an excited child, not some veiled insult to women. 🙄

This, and some wee girls who would have been excited to have been chosen for an ad are now seeing it being lambasted and they're being pointed out as just absolutely AWFUL for what they're apparently portrayed as saying!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/03/2024 18:42

AhBiscuits · 12/03/2024 16:42

I love get offended at stuff but this is fucking ridiculous. Nothing wrong with this ad.

Why would you assume that she did all the shopping, cooking, washing and organising? Because she's a woman? Bit sexist no?

I wouldn’t call that assumption sexist, just realistic.

How many dads (unless they’re single parents) do all the packing* and organising for family holidays?

*for self and kids, dads should naturally do their own.

Tengreenbottles2 · 12/03/2024 18:43

ReallyCenterParcs · 12/03/2024 16:58

Hmmm, I'm guessing none of you who think it's okay have had experience of trying to build the confidence of women and girls who would like to be more active?

Many are easily deterred and this kind of stereotyping really doesn't make things better.

And making women the butt of jokes doesn't strike me as great marketing.

Both children (i.e. the ones rushing ahead) are girls.

I consider myself a feminist, but I'm just not seeing it with this one. I don't even think it looks like a joke, so the mum's not the "butt" of anything, it's just a common phrase you'll often hear kids saying to their parents. And yes, because kids have bags of energy and their parents don't. And yes, that's because the parents are getting old and run ragged looking after the kids. But I don't see it as a joke at anyone's expense, just a relatable moment.

samarrange · 12/03/2024 18:43

The photoshop of Kate's head onto the cyclist is rubbish.

JL690 · 12/03/2024 18:44

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 12/03/2024 16:36

Is it because the child on the left is clearly shouting, "you're all a bunch of cocking arseholes!" at the others?

I thought CP was a euphemism for that!

User478 · 12/03/2024 18:44

Surely she's sore from all the bum sex?

You say this but I know at least two women who pack for their husbands when they go away! I was amazed when I found out!

Jaboody · 12/03/2024 18:48

Oh jesus toe tapping christ. People are looking for absolutely anything to get upset about these days. I'm a mum and do all the housework etc and I see nothing wrong with this.

Jowak1 · 12/03/2024 18:50

If my family went on a bike ride i would be last and my daughter could have said something like that! My hubby is fitter than me and the kids are a lot healthier and quicker on a bike. I'm not unfit just would be at the back- I'm not offended and do find that everyone is offended by something these days!

SpryAmberSeal · 12/03/2024 18:51

I think people are doing some projecting. My first thought was mum is chilling in the back enjoying the peace and quiet. If I wanted to I could out cycle my whole family though so I don't have the mindset of mum can't keep up, Mum's choosing not to.

TeenLifeMum · 12/03/2024 18:51

I’m more offended it would cost us 5k for 3 nights self-catering for my family of 5 to go there over a weekend. Bonkers.
