Cutting Crew: he definitely sings "Diarrhoea sits by the bedside table".

Well, don't just sing nonchalantly about it; grab your Marigolds and bleach and open a window!

Showing my age but I loved this song as a child and would sing 'The hills are alive!'

Only it was Israelites by Desmond Dekker.

I thought the line in that song 'Get up in the morning, slaving for bread sir' was 'Get up in the morning, same thing for breakfast' and that he was complaining simply of an an inability to afford variety.

Dreadlock Holiday. Don't you walk through my words, don't you wee on my pitch.
Just went to see 10cc tonight 😀

Hot Chocolate "I believe in milko "( miracles)

Not a pop song but we used to sing the Lord's Prayer at school.

" Our father, who art in heaven, Harold be thy name" ( who knew? ) Grin

My lover's got no money, he's got his tromboleeze

I sing it as “my love is of the morning he’s got his tromboleeze”

DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 08/03/2024 02:17

“On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair; warm smell of policemen rising up through the air”

fabio12 · 08/03/2024 03:21

Pet Shop Boys - always lived "In a West End town in denim world" - it was the 80s and I really thought he was making a statement about the fashion.

Oh Annie, I'm not your Daddy has the distinct background/chorus of "Ona- ona- onomatopea"

Also just realised it's not Stabucks Lovers Blush

fabio12 · 08/03/2024 03:23

On Freed From Desire, what is the next line - Mine incense is purified? I'm now doubting that too.

Tarkan · 08/03/2024 03:42

Earth, Wind and Fire's September

I still maintain that

(Party on) Say do you remember?
(Party on) Dancing in September

Makes more sense than the actual lyrics which are just

Ba-dee-ya, say do you remember?
Ba-dee-ya, dancing in September

Close enough! Mind and senses purified

My old singing teacher would have said that singer's diction is shocking! Grin

kittycloud · 08/03/2024 03:51

' StreetLife' by The Crusaders - I thought she was singing 'Streetlight' and couldn't understand why she was so passionate about a lamp post Grin

'Freed From Desire' by Gala - when she's singing 'he's got his strong beliefs'- I thought she was singing 'he's got his trombolese' - dunno what I thought a trombolese was Grin

Harold sounds so much better -now got visions of Harold Bishop from neighbours in a pope costume for some reason Grin

Well I never! I always thought it was denim world too!

Also in The Boxer, I thought he squandered his resistance for a pocketful of humble Szechuan Provinces.

He could have taken his horse girlfriend travelling round China.

I'd Really Love To See You Tonight by England Dan & John Ford Coley: I always thought he was singing "I'm not talking about the linen", as although that doesn't make a lot of sense, nothing else seemed to fit. Possibly they were arguing about her refusing to spend the night with him until he remedied his grubby bed sheet situation?!

It turns out that he's actually singing "I'm not talking about movING in" - completely mangling where the emphasis should be on the word.

My DH thought he was singing “I’m not talking about Bolivia”.

Still makes slightly more sense than what they actually sing!

No it's definitely "warm smell of fajitas". 😂

We visited the hotel which was supposed to be the one in the song on a holiday excursion and I made a total idiot of myself by asking if we were going to be served fajitas for lunch.

Have we had ''I'm in a Human Casserole'' yet?

Ragn' Bone Man.

newrubylane · 14/03/2024 14:46

Just had another one - singing along to Complicated by Avril Lavigne and it hit me, the first line is 'Chill out, what're you telling for?', not 'chill out, watch EL on 4'. I just assumed it was some American TV reference. Twenty years I've been singing that wrong 🤦
