Anyone hate these posts?

  • really really really long posts
  • long posts with NO paragraphs
  • posts which start ‘ I have a friend, let’s call her Jane; her DH, let’s call him Sam… you can’t bloody well follow the post. Much easier just to say Friend and DH.
Any others? 😊

On a similar note. "I worked in a nursery and I wouldn't send my child there". I don't get this. Why work somewhere if its so terrible? What was so awful about the care you provided? People always harp on about nurseries not providing 1:1 care and ignoring the fact if a baby has siblings it also won't be getting 1:1 care.

And anyone who refers to nurseries as "institutions" or "farming" children up also winds me up no end.

''Why work somewhere if its so terrible?''

Because bills have to be paid, it's not so easy just to quit and find a new job. I worked in schools that I wouldn't send my kids to. To address your question I worked in these terrible places as I need to earn a living. Many people work in terrible places/jobs they hate. It's life, they don't have much Choice often.

I think there's a difference between ''I've worked in some nurseries that I wouldn't send my children too'' and ''I've worked in 2 nurseries, it wasn't a great experience and I would never send my child to any nursery at all because all nurseries are exactly the same''.

The latter is what I think pp is referring more to.

Yea but it's more she asked the question of why would people work in places they hate. Like is she that naïve to think many people don't but have no other Choice?

I hate my work, it's terrible and several of the people there are awful and if I got won the lotto I'd be gone with no notice. Straight out the door but in the mean time I have bills to pay so there's bugger all I Can do.

Thread titles that are only half a title so that you…

…have to open the thread to find out that you don’t give a fuck what the thread is actually about.

AngeloMysterioso · 28/02/2024 00:37

Also

“whatever happened to ‘be kind’?”

Whenever I read that I just think “oh, fuck off”

CupOfCoffeeandaPineappleChunk · 28/02/2024 00:53

@TheShellBeach completely agree about posters who wrote the entire post in their comment. Just why?

We've all read it and know what they are resounding to. It truly baffles me every time I see it

For me it’s people who cannot read the OP. It causes so much confusion…Just read the post- the kid isn’t 7, they’re year 7, or whatever. Drives me mad. Phew, good to let that out 😆

And also posters who say ‘what’s X’ when they could find it in a fraction of the time by just using you know- bloody google!!!!

I was a bit guilty of this the other day ( only in a minor detail thankfully), as peri brain well and truly has kicked in. Didn't matter how many times i read it I still wasnt following correctly- not for want of trying. I hold my hands up to it though🤦‍♀️
Bring on the HRT!!!

Redglitter · 28/02/2024 09:55

An OP which ends with 'Discuss'

Or one with 'Dear Reader'

HATE both of them

QuestionableMouse · 28/02/2024 10:14

Posts were posters make up a story to fit how they see the situation, adding in details that aren't in the OP - usually so they have have a go at the original poster. There's one on the pub/manager thread right now where a poster has made up loads of stuff to make the person who posted it look like an utter cow when in reality they have no idea what was actually going on.

Ugh yeah I hate this!

Mothership4two · 27/02/2024 23:34

OP's who don't get the response they were expecting, argue with posters and come back (usually) the next day with it all resolved in their favour and explain how they were right all along 'actually' and everyone IRL agrees with them.

Oh, yes.

Example:

Poster 1: I had a bad experience at my local chemist. The person serving me misgendered me, called out my address in an empty shop, crossed their eyes when handing over the package containing my medication and stuck out their tongue behind my back. I have emailed to complain.

Posters 2 - 37: Cool story bro.

Poster 1: I have received a gracious apology from the owner. They are going to create a shrine in my honour in the shop and sack the employee.

Mothership4two · 28/02/2024 12:42

Craybourne · 28/02/2024 11:10

Ugh yeah I hate this!

Posters magically know better than the person on the scene! Sometimes they have perfect insight into the OP's way of life or relationships even when the OP says that it isn't the case.

TBF I know the post that @QuestionableMouse is refering to and the OP does have a few "plot holes", plus things that don't quite add up and isn't coming back to explain (probably because the thread is very much not going their way).

I think it's fine to make suggestions to fill in some blanks on threads as long as you are clear "maybe xyz this happened?" or "because OP said this, I assume xyz...", but not to completely reinvent their account and/or say you know better than they do!

I hate the 'discuss' thing. My first thought is "Fuck Off!"

BIWI · 28/02/2024 13:25

Anything that starts with 'Hey, ladies ...'

DistingusedSocialCommentator · 28/02/2024 13:38

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 25/02/2024 22:27

Can't say it annoys me but puzzles me...I don't see why some posters feel the need to say that they have name changed are a regular poster, then mention old threads such as "pom bears" to "prove" that.

Why not just name change and post?

lol a few have said that, made me ROFL the first times and even more now

What winds me up a bit is the idiots they just disagree for the sake of it

Haha yeah I like playing mumsnet "spot the man". There's usually a few tell tale turns of phrase

And they generally ask for their thread to be deleted when it doesn't go their way.

Wonderfulstuff · 28/02/2024 15:45

Every fashion post that goes...
OP - Is this £20 skirt nice or Mumsy (or whatever Misognistic term they come up with)
Post 1- wear what you want why post ask others?
Post 2 - yes that's nice
Post 3 - I would rather smear my own vomit over me and call it a dress then wear that
Post 4- yes, it's mumsy try this skirt which costs £500 from net a porter. I have them in every colour
Post 5 - I only weave my own clothes... do you not care about the planet???!!!
OP - Oh I really liked it on but I'll return it.

TheActualDuck · 25/02/2024 21:36

Posts where names are substituted by letters eg 'A and B were friends before C came along but A and C now live together.......etc'.
I just can't follow these threads and invariably give up on them. Why can't posters just use made up names?

I'm the same. I can't remember who is who unless they use names.....just a blind spot on my brain lol

There's been a lot of that recently plus "what do you ladies think?" comments. It's not something you hear women say nowadays.

No. And there was a thread started today, which began with "Girls -"
Just yuk.

Saladcreamdreams · 28/02/2024 16:34

People who moan about their nannies or cleaners 😜

RampantIvy · 28/02/2024 16:51

In Style and Beauty describing something as frumpy. I wish they would ban that word.

Still in S & B being told that skinny jeans are out. No they aren't, loads of people still wear them and the shops are full of them.

Being advised that a camel coat will make anyone look well groomed. No it doesn't. It's a shit colour and makes me and other jewel winters look ill.

There are an unbelievable amount of spineless women on here who apparently won't say boo to a goose!

'I was on the school run when a truck mounted the pavement and knocked my pram into a hedge and we've spent six hours in A&E and baby has a concussion. Should I have said anything to the driver?'

Our neighbour for the past thirty years has parked on my drive. We have to park three miles away to find the nearest space and walk back home. I'm not sure if I should mention it next time I see him?'

'My boyfriends ex wife came up to me in town and stabbed me. Should I tell the police or will he think I'm just being jealous?'

That kind of nonsense.

Definitely this.
