Pretty much that.
I'm going to Gran Canaria for a week in 7 weeks time and I should be excited as it was a valentines present from OH
But he's booked a 6am flight
We are staying at an airport hotel the night before which is literally 2 mins walk to terminal (and small airport ) but I'm dreading it.
I hate being tired and will need to be up at 2.30am really.
We are going to Rhodes in September and it's a lovely 3pm flight.
I'm just filled with dread and worrying about being tired the whole day.
Aibu to feel this way ?

An early flight, is fabulous- it gives you almost an extra day of holiday - you get there, have a snack relax and sort out your room and have a bit of a look round and then either snooze by the pool for a couple of hours or go to bed and then you wake up it’s late afternoon and your whole holiday is in front of you !!

The night before our last early flight, we stayed at the Radisson Blu Manchester airport. We had an early evening meal, a few drinks (why not???) wobbled off to bed early, got up early, skipped the shower, light make-up and off to the terminal. Eggs on toast and coffee once through security and snooze on the plane.

A night at the Radisson is counted as the first night of our hols!

I have had insomnia, I certainly wouldn't sleep at all the night before a flight. You get used to being tired.

Same although I wouldn't say I got used to it apart from in an exasperated way. Once I was so tired I was getting chest pains.

I can confirm that BA do indeed issue a drink and snack although I am economy short haul and only got water and pretzels ( 3 times last year and once this year).

Get a grip. Sorry but isn't getting up early part of the excitement or is it just me 🤣

Getting up v early is the worst part of the holiday for me.

I don’t think you are being unreasonable. Mind you 3pm wouldn’t suit me either depending on where you are going as hate arriving really late as well.

Funkyslippers · 29/02/2024 08:56

Me too. I'd hate to have to leave the house in the middle of the night. I like to have a few hours before we leave for the airport to chill a bit, check & double check we've remembered the important stuff and say goodbye a million times to our cats ☺️

I have an 8 month old and he's been abroad with us 3 times now. Every time we have caught an early morning flight and we're 45 minutes' drive from the airport. If that's doable, I'm sure you can roll out of the hotel bed to check in at 4am. Check in won't even open until 2 hours before your flight.

Holidays are supposed to be fun though?

They are but reading this thread you’d think it was the end of the world getting up a couple of hours earlier

CagneyAndLazy precisely why I don't do a job that has night shifts
