Do you like watching other people having sex (on TV)?

I don't. Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but if I'm watching a movie or drama and the characters start having sex then, unless it's a key part of the plot (e.g.dialogue taking place during the action), I hit fast-forward and skip to the post-coital scene. I'm not a prude - I just find it uncomfortable/intrusive to watch other people having sex. Intimate scenes have their place in movies/dramas with an obviously sensual theme - each to their own. But if it's a movie/drama of any other genre, and the sex scene doesn't advance the plot in any way, why linger on it? Just me?

If you fast forward intimate scenes then yes you are a prude.

by definition of the term

No. A prude is someone easily shocked by sex/sex scenes. I find them dull/cringe. Not shocking.

I fast forwarded a lot of Bridgerton where the duke and duchess were shagging, cause it was so boring and added nothing to the story. I wasn't shocked by it. I've had sex before. I know what naked people look like and where their bits go 😂

🙄 to the power of infinity.

Eye roll all you want but I do know some woman who don't like their partners watching porn because of this and not because of other reasons.

I don't mind some sex scenes. 365 had a bit too much and I don't think I finished it even though the actors are goodlooking.

Of course it added to the story.

I fast forward so I don't have to hear the sloppy slurping noises that sound like they are sucking a sloppy apple if that make me a prude then prude away

Rubbishconfession · 26/02/2024 21:17

YANBU, other people’s slurpy noises when exchanging saliva or grunting and sighs is not fun.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 27/02/2024 14:14

We don’t fast forward. Instead we laugh at all the ooohing and aaaghing and do a pisstake of it. We’re not sitting there in puritan collars and covering the table legs, you know.

Never seen that midwife thing either.

Shiningout · 25/02/2024 14:54

Yeah exactly, why would someone hate the actress wearing a bra ffs. Unless they're a man obviously 🙄

@Gwenhwyfar and @Shiningout
Well, I'm not a man just because I don't agree with you on this issue so please don't be so narrow minded. I'm just a woman who would prefer actresses to either refuse to take their clothes (and not feel pressured into getting naked) or to take their bras off during sex scenes. That's not to say I want to see their breasts, I actually prefer camera angles that hint to nakedness but not show it.

When it's naked accept for bras it jars to me in its total lack of realism because, as I said in my post, I've only ever had sex with my bra on once or twice and that was when I had the rest of my clothes on accept pants during urgent quickies. And with foreplay I want a man to give my breasts attention before he even considers my crotch, so bra off before pants. From what I've read on MN over the many years I've been here this isn't unusual either.

No, I find it boring and cringe most of the time. Same in books, but TV/Film is worse.

I quite like a good car chase 😁

Same here, love a good car chase!

Sex scenes though usually seem pointless… X is cheating on Y- fine, point taken, we don’t actually need to see them shagging.

Withinthesewalls · 29/02/2024 08:03

@CandidaAlbicans2 I agree on the bra front.

So annoyingly unrealistic. Its always underwired bras, never anything comfortable for shagging… never known a woman to keep her bra on unless she is also wearing her clothes.

If they don’t want to show their breasts then they should film it to not show their breasts.

I never called you a man so your comment should not have been aimed at me!

Kendodd · 29/02/2024 18:22

I always feel sorry for the actors. It must be the very worse bit of the job.

hopscotcher · 29/02/2024 18:31

No not really. I wouldn't avoid something on that basis, but I'd be putting up with the sex scenes more than enjoying them.

SmokedPaprikaPuffs · 29/02/2024 18:43

Depends on the storyline. If it's romantic and something has been building between the characters then I like it. (Bridgerton...)

Mayhemmumma · 29/02/2024 18:54

Scenes that are too full on make me cringe and are awkward with DH... I just want to watch telly! I prefer to watch 15s for this reason (not good with 18 rated gore either!)

Kre8tor69 · 05/09/2024 20:13

You like seeing fast car driving and those people doing what they like as well as many other things so why not sex. They enjoy it and some do it better than others. Why not watch them performing what pleases them a lot😁

Ethylred · 05/09/2024 20:18

YABU and more sex please, how else will the rest of us learn what to do?

newnamethanks · 05/09/2024 20:23

I don't. It irritates me more as I've aged, so maybe it's the loss of oestrogen? I often feel someone should send for an asthma nurse to deal with the gasping and heavy breathing. Theirs. Not mine😀

User135644 · 06/09/2024 07:01

If you're that desperate to watch other people have sex, put porn on.

There's no need for it in a regular tv show. It's just porn if there's multiple sex scenes

curtaintwitcher78 · 06/09/2024 07:04

Same. I stopped watching Sense 8 because of the long and boring orgies.

Slitherr · 06/09/2024 07:05

I don’t mind them.

Have you ever watched porn? It's nothing like sex scenes in films and TV shows!

Loubelle70 · 07/09/2024 22:57

Its not that i like it as such...but if its relevant to the story i will watch it...but if its sex for sake of sex and tbh its usually for the male viewers..i will turn over or off. Film i watched last week... turned off...2 sex scenes in 10 minutes...its ridiculous.
